  • Vienna is such an interesting destination that you did not know much about. I have heard that it is a beautiful city, but what are the symbols of Vienna? I had no idea. Okay, of course very famous musicians and writers have worked there in the past, there are museums there, the whole neighborhood has been built on museums. But there was no way to point out certain symbols.
Let us take Paris, for example. At least five keywords will come up immediately: Eiffel, Notre-Dame, Louver, Champs-Élysées, Montmartre, etc. Or let us take London. Basically the same story. But for vodka, these keywords do not exist. And the city was even more surprised. Perhaps the lack of preconceptions contributed to this. Would you go to Vienna again? Definitely. Absolutely. So we visited Vienna in beautiful, warm weather, in the middle of July, when the sun was 25-30 degrees Celsius.
We took a trip to Vienna to celebrate the anniversary and were able to dedicate only 4 days, a sweet long weekend, to this city. And here is a brief description of what you can do in 4 days in Vienna. Of course TripAdvisor will help you with its recommendations and books, but in the end you can still choose what suits you the most, depending on your pace and interests.
    Number 1, the Old Town.
The Old Town is quite large, extremely compact, and most importantly, virtually completely traffic-free. What I liked was that car traffic was routed around the Old Town. The old town does not go through any serious traffic junctions. Therefore, it's a great walk through the old town. There is a lot to see. Vienna surprises with magnificent palaces and splendid buildings, powerful architecture, utmost purity and, as a good friend of mine said, "Vienna is somehow a human city." That was indeed the case.
What does it mean? For that, you should go there and feel how a developed country took care of the people in its capital. I can only mention a few key words here: There are free drinking points for clean water everywhere (very important), well-developed bike lanes (like a completely separate transport dimension), there are many beautiful parks not only for beauty but also for fun and water, simple and logical public transport, a very well thought-out subway, the streets were so clean that you could walk in socks.
There are quite a few interesting signs in the old town, many more, but the most memorable were: The Hofburg, St. Stephen's Cathedral, which is also a symbol of the freedom of the Austrians, as it remained completely untouched during the World War II, the City Hall, where the film festival was held, and of course the Opera, which made a rather modest impression, but did not look gone, the museum district, beautiful parks, of which there are many and which are somehow signposted and recommended, then more cafes, stores and restaurants, etc.
    Number 2, Belvedere.
Belvedere Palace is only about 1 or 1.5 km away in the old town. Very easy to reach on foot. In the sense of Tallinn, like Kadriorg Park and the Presidential Palace, but more majestic by a degree or significantly (depending on your point of view). Such places leave a deeper impression than just the noise of the old town, cafes and parks. Here there is history, such a beautiful idyll, beauty, gold and fear. A place you should definitely visit.
    Number 3. Schoenbrunn.
Schoenbrunn is the summer residence of the Habsburg dynasty. In other words: While the royal family stayed at Hofbug Palace in the Old Town in winter, they spent their time at Schoenbrunn in summer. You can also reach the Old Town on foot, or take a city bike to get there faster. Let us just say that Schoenbrunn was so powerful and majestic that his mouth opened 3 more times than Belvedere left his mouth open.
In some ways you could compare it to Versailles in France, but of course Versailles remains. Here you can spend the whole morning, from morning to night. This large palace with 1441 rooms was built on a huge area, with countless parks surrounded by high hedges where you can lose yourself. The oldest zoo is also located here. At the foot of the hill there was its own "terrace", which is a little more intense than you can imagine.
    Number 4. the Danube.
Due to its geographical location, Vienna is, of course, not a coastal city. But that's nothing to worry about. There are many cool city beaches and also real beaches along the Danube. We were at the so-called city beach, where there are sunbeds, cafes, beach bars, nice music and of course nice warm water.
