    Vienna resident here: Visiting Prater is a good tip! Just one thing, though - Prater is the name for the whole extensive big green park area, which is as important for Vienna and its citizens as Central Park is for NYC. Prater used to be an imperial hunting ground, it was opened to the public in 1776 and has remained open since then. The amusement part is just a small portion of it. Vienna boasts many wonderful, extensive green spaces, like Stadtpark right on the Ring. As a tourist, you could also consider going to Donaupark (a short walk from U1 stop Alte Donau) and visiting the Donauturm, with a revolving restaurant at the top that offers the best view of Vienna and its surroundings, if the weather is good.

      Thanks for your feedback! We know the Prater is a lot more than just the amusement park but focused on the latter as this is a video addressed to first-time visitors who most probably won't have enough time to roam around the rest of the park. We also wanted to visit Donaupark but saved it for next time as we didn't have enough time. Vienna is a city to visit again and again after all 😉

    Hello just wanna ask how to get to major attractions? By walking or by public transpo?

    • @ItsAllTripToMe
      @ItsAllTripToMe  Месяц назад

      Hey there! It depends where you're staying. If you choose a central hotel, you can walk to many of the best Vienna attractions and only use public transport for the ones that are a bit farther like the Schönbrunn Palace. For a list of the best places to stay in Vienna, you can read the thorough guide we've published on our website. The link is in the description of this video 🙂

    Good video, but that was not the Danube river (which is much wider), it´s the Danube Channel.

      The Danube Channel actually is the original river bed of the Danube, what is the main bed now did not exist until the late 19th century, when a large building project to divert the stream and its devastating floodings away from the city was executed.

      @@nina1608 Correct, that´s why the "Entlastungsgerinne" with the Danube Island was built, which now is called "Neue Donau" - New Danube. You from Vienna, too?

    0:52 Dont particularly recommend them, far too toristy and overhyped - rather recommend the Imperial Treasure Chamber.
    3:15 Since when do they have concerts in the opera house? And I would have rather added Musikverein then Karlskirche to that list.
    3:59 Dont recommend either of them - there are better locations with better prices and quality. Demel does have very good pastries - but I would take them to-go.
    5:34 5:43 5:46 6:18 7:45 Also part of the Hofburg
    6:04 Dont really recommend the Freud Museum either, kind of a tourist scam.
    6:54 The Prater IS the large central park of the city - it also contains a small amusement section in one corner. It also contains several historical coffee houses and a casino.
    8:21 Thats not the Danube river, its a small artificial channel built some centuries ago to allow merchant ships closer to the markets. The actual Danube is considerably larger then that. I agree, it might be interesting to stroll along - if you r into nature and relax.
    10:15 Ehm...every stop of the U4 line looks like that...there is one pavillion in particular I would mention - unfortunatly its the only one, which is NOT accessible to the public (the emperor got his own subway station).
    10:28 It was never the center of jewish life in the city - in the 1200s Leopold I (of the Babenberger Dinasty) forced all the jews out of the city onto an island in the middle of the Danube (at the time). Nowadays its the 2nd district of the city (still named after that jerk). That district has been the center of jewish life in the area ever since.

      Thanks for taking the time to watch our video from start to end and for the detailed feedback. You seem to know Vienna pretty well. However, this is a video addressed to anyone visiting Vienna for the first time, hence our recommendations for what might be considered by a local as touristy places etc and the lack of going TOO deep in the specific history of each location. On that note, though, allow us to strongly disagree about the Freud Museum. We don't think it's a tourist scam at all as it gives great insight into the life and work of a great personality.
