Man, your first bit with your campfire and all of it, I need to get out! This darn knee is keeping me off the trail for now, but I really can't wait to get back out there. Off trail is a whole other adventure for sure! Solid navigational skills are critical. Fun video, Crow!
if theres a sign, you are most certainly not in the "middle of nowhere" haveing been hiking off trail longer then hiking on trail, before gps, i have come so close to getting seriously lost it was sheer luck i found my way again, it seems as though you have little real experience
Great tips. I spend probably 80% of my time in the mountains off trail. You definitely get more solitude that way, although it usually means for slower going if you're trying to cover distance. I always have some flagging tape with me, just in case all of my electronics were to go out and I needed to mark where I've been. If I have a creek or ridgeline I can use as a reference, it doesn't matter, but sometimes when it's just rolling hills, it's easy to forget which little drainage you were in when you started.
Awesome bushwhacking! When hubby and I met y’all and the ATC.1 crew we had just come back from overnighting around the Clifty Canyon area. Wasn’t “off trail” but unmarked. Didn’t make it all the way inside the canyon, but it was still a gorgeous area. The waterfall near our campsite was really showing out that weekend, 🥾🏕️
Now that was an adventure! The only off trail excursion we did was in the snow! That was quite a trek! Boots and pants are almost a must... especially in the snow! ;-) I think Squid's tarp was the same one we have now. Awesome trip!
Reminds me of my old bow hunting days in the mountains of Washington albeit bigger mountains lol but mostly no actual trails just a map and compass also camp was on like 20 feet of snow but would start in lower elevation without it...
Hey i met ya at oak mountain a couple weeks ago, I was the guy who was former BPD. Love your videos! What is the best app for the AT for navigation? I got All Trails but i really don't like it. What would you suggest?

Appreciate it! Yeah, this was a lot of fun. Hope you get your knees feeling better. Thanks for watching it. Crow🙏
“Middle of nowhere” love it. What a perfect fire, great stuff. 👍🏻❤️

And that's why we call it an adventure. Nice hike, cool video. Thanks.

Great point! Yeah, that tape would be really good. I bet you have been waaaay of trail out there in Utah. ✌️
I like nature beautiful
I love the Sipsey. Great video!
Thanks so much! 🙏
Thanks for sharing! Takes me back to my Army days breaking brush.😝
😂✌️
Yeah! The hunter bushwacked hoping hikers wouldn't!
😂😂😂

That sounds awesome. That is my kind of off trail. It was awesome to meet you! ✌️
My tip to add: use a hammock. You aren't so constrained to existing campsites that way. All you need is two trees about 15-18' apart!
Great idea! I wish I had thought of that. ✌️
Loved watching your off trail fun. You and I did some off trail at the Red River Gorge 😁. Remember the stinging nettle.
Off Trails are the best trails
Stinging nettles are no joke! I should have taken them more seriously. 😳 That was a fun trip. Let’s do it again. 🤟🏻
Wow!! You have a video ready while doing the ATC , amazing!! I the only action i would have done between each day is sleep 😂.
Ima go off-trail one of these days. Looks like fun

Yep, that is the same tarp, Etowah Gear. Thanks for watching it. Crow✌️
That campsite looked nice (the one you said nope too). Looked like all the widow makers were already on the ground.
Awesome vid bush whacking through the woods. How is the tent holding up???
One the best parts of returning to the same trails is getting to explore around them. Did you find any bodies? Good tips! 🤙🍻
👍👍👍👍👍😀✝️

This was a blast. Thanks for watching it Grateful Trekker!
