I've got so much advice and inspiration from your videos, so I think you more than deserve a massive thank you. I love the fact that vintage toys dont have to be perfect. For me it's nostalgia, a passionate trip down memory lane. yeah sure cared and figures are great and I do own a couple but I dont want to go down the road of perfection. any ways, thanks again and keep up the good work.
A bit of OxyClean powder - if you can get it in the UK - in the warm soak will quickly release almost any paper label (homebrewer bottle recycling tip!)
I've always loved the star wars carrying cases, Darth Vader, C-3po, laser rifle, and Chewbacca's bandolier. I had them all as a kid. The Darth Vader and C-3po case look good just setting on a shelf too.
Toy Polloi I just watched toy fair and they are making a Kylo Ren action figure case in the same model as the Darth Vader case. everything that is old becomes new again.
First use 2000 grit sandpaper to remove all of the scuffs and gouging, then Use car polish and a wool buffer wheel at a slow speed. Those cases will shine like glass! Trust me.... it’s an amazing transformation. A good way to fix the hinges is to glue black nylon straps inside of the case; lengthwise, much like a piano hinge. Love the videos mate! Your a great inspiration for those hard to do fixes! FYI, the CD singles cases are a damn good idea. Thank you.
I fell over a product today that would be great for fixing these:- Search for "CRL Black Acrylic Continuous Hinge" it's the same sort of hinge used for piano key cover lids but made from black plastic...
It might not be a bad idea to put tape across the working hinges as well. It would even up the look and the extra reinforcement might help futurefproof the working hinge
I remember this man that used to go to my neighbour's house and he had this case or a really similar case filled with vintage figures, I remember at the time I wasn't into Star Wars that much and I was more into Lego but those figures looked neat and vintage, I assume he still has them.
Nice work! I clean my case using armor-all and the shine on it is pretty good. Greetings from México city. Sorry about my bad English, my native language is spanish....
Just to let you know, Javier, your use of English is excellent. There were only two errors, Armor All and Spanish require capital letters as they are proper names. I have read worse posts from people whose first and only language is English.
Any tips on getting the locker door to stay shut? Picked up a minty fresh two hinge one for $5, but the locker door pops open after a second. Giving it to my kid to use with my '90s collection of figures.
an old video to comment on i know but have you tried using webbed black duct tape? insulating tape while looking the part really loses its adhesion over time and has a tendency to go all "gummy" which you may have already discovered in the years since you made this :)
Superb. I got two of these ages ago, but I wanted a C3PO one too. I store my vintage Star Wars figures in plastic bags inside them in the loft. What are your feelings on loft storage (and baggies) for figures?
Great video. What sort of polish would you suggest to buff up and polish the case? Was just going to use mr muscle furniture polish spray but not sure if you had a better alternative product?
You might try using nail polish remover (Acetone) to remove those stickers and sticker residue. I used Acetone to remove the adhesive left by old tape on a box from a vintage Star Wars Mini-rig just yesterday. It worked perfectly without damaging the cardboard or print on the cardboard. I use it all the time on plastic. I would recommend testing it on a small area first though. Best of luck with your future restorations and videos!
Does anyone know anything about a variant of these with a black and white Empire strikes back sticker, because I have one like that and I cannot find anything about that version anywhere.
Let another great video,But would you say it would be a good idear to store vintage figures in these cases and the vinyl cases that were released or would it be harmful to the figures ?

+Justin Cull Thanks Justin. I'm glad you have found my videos helpful. Toys are to be enjoyed!

“You have failed me for the last time, General Hinge. I find your lack of flexibility, disturbing.”

They do look nice. And can really take a beating.

Goof Off works great to take off sticky residue. Like your tips.

Great restoration! Great tips!

You can plastic weld the hinges, i have done quite a few, not hard to do and it looks like new.

Do you think you could come up with a way to replace broken tabs?
Superb. I got two of these ages ago, but I wanted a C3PO one too. I store my vintage Star Wars figures in plastic bags inside them in the loft. What are your feelings on loft storage (and baggies) for figures?
My figures are stored in all manner of ways. Some in the loft as i just dont have space for them.
Great video. What sort of polish would you suggest to buff up and polish the case? Was just going to use mr muscle furniture polish spray but not sure if you had a better alternative product?
I just used cheap own brand polish. Seemed to work fine.

I don't like using acetone as it often damages the plastic. Especially with old star wars and action man stuff.
Does anyone know anything about a variant of these with a black and white Empire strikes back sticker, because I have one like that and I cannot find anything about that version anywhere.
Oooh. I still have mine. The hinges are broken, though. Dusty, but not filthy.
Edit: Great tip on the hinges. I'm going to do that.
Did they make these for ANH too?
do u think that Liquid Plastic would work on hinges?
+Co⊙zeB○Yz Not sure. They bend a long way and are prone to breaking with age.
OMG..i had 2 of two of those...2 or 3 of C3PO...and several of the vinyl cases black, and blue ones!!!
Do you think Lighter Fluid works better than GooGone (TM)?
I've only ever used lighter fluid.
I have one of these from the 80s unfortunately it is missing a couple of the clasps that keep it closed, any way to fix this?
Not really. Once those are broken all you could do is replace it with some other catch.
i feel like you should have more fame for what you do
+Martin Holloway So do i :D People are slowly finding me.
Let another great video,But would you say it would be a good idear to store vintage figures in these cases and the vinyl cases that were released or would it be harmful to the figures ?
I found one complete for 99 cents....
i have a millennium falcon carrying case and one side doesn't full close. any tips on how to make it fully Close?
superermac55 is it packed with figures?
Dr. BYxPlayz nope
great video, as always.
today i got the star wars vintage koska reeves figure and lando calrissian vintage figure
wipe new will make them look amazing
I keep thinking, when I have time I'm gonna do a video on restoring the sponge on my dagoba playset..... who knows you may beat me to it.
+Jonathan Stokes Go for it. I don't have a dagobah playset at the moment. If I find one I will restore it.
Nice!
should buy some GooGone instead of using lighter fluid. its a lot less corrosive to the plastics.
+Co⊙zeB○Yz I think Googone is a US only product. Never seen it in the UK.
Love your videos when i first looked on you i thaught that you had like 100-200 thousend then i saw that you had only 5 thousend pretty shocking!
+Jordgubben Yeah, I know. I would love to have more subscribers. But I am happy with what I have so far.
