  • One of the coolest tricks I know is this "smoke bomb". Fill an ice ball with smoke, only to smash it open over your cocktail.

    • @sylasviper715
      @sylasviper715 6 лет назад +5

      Don't ever go into a fine bar hammered.. it is very disrespectful actually. The idea is to taste and experience the drink. Most likely you only get buzzed, then you will order drinks that are stronger, less elegant, but mix well with the combinations previously, usually the bartender will know what drink combinations work best. ( That is for the hangover though )

  • @learnerlearns
    @learnerlearns 8 лет назад +80

    It's a nice trick, but I've found it's not good to have drunks handle hammers near glass.
    Instead, I use an ice pick and tap that with my wooden muddler or hand. The break is cleaner and far less likely to ruin your fancy cocktail. Also, I never have the customer or guest do the break. Leave that to the sober professionals behind the bar.

    • @Aeltrius
      @Aeltrius 8 лет назад +15

      This isn't exactly the kind of drink you'd serve at a place where people are getting smashed. And certainly not as their third or fourth drink. It's more of a starter at a classier joint.

    • @learnerlearns
      @learnerlearns 8 лет назад +2

      Ha! True enough! However, my experience bartending is that ANY place can have uncoordinated people, or nervous people, or those who can't follow instructions well, or horny people trying to show off, or... well, you get the idea. ;-)

    I have an improvement tip for this drink. If you were to ignite the drink, the ice ould slowly melt and as it pops the smoke koming out will put out the flames. Don't know if that would make a problem as the drink maybe would burn down to much but it seartanly would be a nicer way than smashing it with a hammer.

    I bet this would look really cool for iced coffee or tea. You could pour the hot drink over the ice ball and have it melt through instead of breaking it with a hammer. I don't know if smoked tea/smoked coffee would TASTE any good, but it'd LOOK cool.

    • @CocktailChemistry
      @CocktailChemistry  7 лет назад +4

      You can find the equipment here (www.cocktailchemistrylab.com/home/smoke-bomb), though it looks like Amazon is sold out of that hammer. You can try with a muddler, just need to aim carefully. Would not recommend making this your 4th drink of the night.
      The smoke will only last for about 5 minutes so you'll want to serve it shortly after preparing
