Excellent rule. I run probably 1k per month through my guns but I also have dedicated carry vs. range guns.
I use three magizines, loaded with 2, 3 and 4 rounds each. I mix them up, and then shoot my controlled pairs and failure drills. This forces me to constantly reload and puts me under additional pressure. If I fire one round that I call as being a bad shot, I then fire an additional round to get that other 'good hit.' I tape my target between stages so I know how well or poorly I was shooting at each stage. I OWN the badly placed shots. I have to critical of my shooting to improve.

I try to shoot 100-150 rounds to the range twice a month. I wish I could do more but I work a lot too. Some months I'm lucky and I get a third range day in a month

I try to shoot them at least monthly 200 rounds or so. I was supposed to go today but my buddy cancelled. It’s hot here in so cal (as you know) so I decided to crack a beer & watch you tube. That’s why you are here lol. I’m kinda local to your range, would love to meet up & shoot.
If you are only allowed 3 carry guns I'm in the same boat as you. 1911 .45, SW3913 9mm, SW642 .38Spl.

Ohhhhhh i thought he was gonna tell me try and limit myself to one box a month. Thank God cuz i did not want to take that challenge. I go through 6 or 8 boxes a month. Lol.

600 rds per year? Thats nothing, bro, I fire 200 rds or I dont bother to go to the range and I go almost every Saturday, and shoot a match most Sundays. I also shoot a lot of airsoft and. .177 lead pellets in my home. To do less is missing out on a LOT of fun. I cast bullets and reload for 9mm, but a lot of my shooting is done with the .22lr conversion unit on the carry gun. 9-13c per shot makes more sense to me than 25-40c per shot, dont you think? Because I used the 'hand in pocket" start, i can toss up a couple of soda cans with my left hand, draw with my right hand and hit the cans in midair.. Hitting a 2" wide can at 3-5 ft of distance is the same thing as hitting a 12" wide man at 18-30 ft and that covers over 95% of realiistic, justifiable civilian self-defense. Most of the time, the attack is not made with a gun, so the range at which you can fire,, legally, is 10 ft or less. and a lot of gun fights are at 10 ft and less. Normally, when they see your gun ponted at them, they flee. Misses and warrning shots have changed a lot of minds, folks. So have poor hits, even with feeble calibers It's quite rare, actually, for a CIVILIAN to have to 'shoot him into the ground" with lots of fast, powerful hits to the chest.
i told my wife that the U.S. Government made a new law that i have to buy 1 gun per month.... SHE WAS PISSED...and i am not even married...
