Your Pump not working? understanding how your Pump works plus Pump smart head

That head is a form of a water pressure sensor. It maintains a certain pressure in the pipe, that is why when you turn off the water in the house it sense that the pressure stabilized in line and shuts off. As soon as the water is turn on the pressure decreases and pump kicks in to try to increase that set pressure. Normally you would have a pressure gauge on the side.

You are so right it needs a body of constant water flow to work efficiently also dont use a smaller id pipe for your suction pipe from tank and yr distribution pipe should be the same size for at least 30 feet then you can reduce the id of yr pipe
