Unfortunately you can't craft the remote detonators. You find them in the same places you find C4 explosives. You can craft an improvised explosive and use an alarm clock instead of a remote.
You might be right on console, but alternate accounts are less of a problem on PC due to not being able to share the game, so you'd need multiple Steam accounts and have multiple licences for the game too. I've heard that duplicating isn't really a thing on PC as well, but I don't know how they duplicate items in the first place so it may be possible.

Breaking in destroys everything I think. Breaking out leaves planks and nails. They may be finding a way in by crawling or climbing through a window?
