This is all we could have afford to go to back then for vacation and we only lived an hour way from Myrtle Beach . And the pavilion amusement park was the place of fun back than 🤭
Yes! We couldn’t afford anything else either. We would stay on the second or third row and walk to the beach because we couldn’t afford beach front. We ate at the room almost every meal, sandwiches and chips. If we stayed a whole week we got to go out for one “good” meal while we were there. They were still the best times. ❤️
Same here! Im in Florence SC. We go every year and stay at the same place but it just isn't the same anymore. All the fun is gone. So many rules & it's an absolute money trap.
Wow...thank you for sharing! My old stomping grounds before I moved here way back in 91...NOT A CELL PHONE IN SIGHT..LOL! Ah, the good Ole dayz! Mixon Dixon on the radio..Vanna White at Sun Fun...Hawian Tropic & Panama Jack..smelling like coconuts!
@@StumpandDi Back in the 80's My wife and I would a week at a time. Rooms were 35 to 45 dollars a night. Plenty of Buffet restaurants. But things do change. I could go to the beach on a single paycheck.
Taking down the Pavilion was so sad and I could never figure out why. That land sat there vacant for so long my kids had so much fun there. I have been here for 24 years and cannot remember the last time I went to the the Boulevard. I think it had to do with the outrageous prices to park your car.Thank you fof this video I really enjoed it..
You had one of the coolest jobs in one of the best years ever! When I was a teenager that was my ultimate desire; to live and work at Myrtle Beach. :-)
It was certainly different then. So much better than it is now. It breaks my heart seeing what has been done to the place. I hate that you didn’t get to experience it.
Watching this is nostalgic, but tragic as they made the biggest mistake by tearing down the pavilion. The pavilion was the only reason I loved myrtle beach other than the ocean. Sad truly sad.
I completely agree. For us we spent all day in the pool or in the surf and sand until burned. Then we came in for showers and dinner. Night time we headed to the Pavilion where we as teens could see and be seen (and do an awful lot of flirting). I do miss it.
Well, it’s been almost 35 years. RUclips wasn’t even an idea. Camcorders hadn’t been out very long and most people didn’t have them. The ones who did pretty much shot what they were looking at. 🤷♀️
It was definitely 1990. This was my parents’ first trip to the beach without me. I had a 6 month old at home :-) If you look at 6:13 mark there is a banner in the T shirt shop that says selling out for 1990. There’s another at 16:25. Those cars really are a throwback though!
Oh, how I wish we could go back in time. So many memories of that wonderful place.
Thank you for sharing. It's great watching this.
As a local in MB, I miss those days just walking around the Pavillion. I spent so much time at the Magic Attic. Its so different here now.
We just came back from a trip on Sunday. I do miss old Myrtle Beach, but it’s still beautiful and an amazing place to spend some time.

@@StumpandDi Yeah your absolutely right … the best times back than . This video brought up those Innocent childhood memories .

I loved the beach when everything was on the strip, and the Pavillion was so much fun .
I did too. I miss old MB so much.
Yes! Miss the old days and the old Myrtle Beach.😢
Me too. 😢
I miss the old everything!
Most of these motels have been replaced by big resorts
Good memories, I have been there many times, since 1979.🥰
Love this video! Brings back SO many memories from my childhood!! Thank you for sharing this!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. So much has changed there.
@@StumpandDi It looks almost nothing lime this video anymore..it's so sad!
I actually had more fun watching this video of Myrtle Beach than I did the last time I was at Myrtle Beach😂
Glad you enjoyed. And I totally get that!
The beach is so boring now .
Thank you so much for sharing this. I remember!,
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it. ❤️

Thanks for sharing this. Great video!
Thank you for watching! ❤️
I miss the Myrtle Beach of the 80's and 90's. You could have fun without spending your life savings.
It used to be a fairly cheap vacation. I never wanted to come home either. I miss those days so much.

I worked at the grandstand amusement park in 88..It was cool back then...peace

@StumpandDi back then,it was cool working there. I was 20 and it was an adventure, getting ready to move back there for awhile...peace
Here we are in 2024 and a ...lot of the landscape in Myrtle Beach has dramatically and drastically changed over the past several
It really has. I still love Myrtle Beach. It’s my second home and go-to for weekend getaways and take-it-easy vacations.
Thanks for the look back. Chances are I was cruising the strip there that night. I moved back to the West Coast about 2 years later. Sure miss it.
Great video Ty for posting
Glad you enjoyed it!
Been coming here since 1993 good times 😊
It's a shame most of that is gone now
ITS PRETTY MUCH NEW HOUSING NOW
SO MANY PEOPLE MOVING THERE
I was there in 1990. Where did all the time go? Didn't have a video camera then. Thanks for posting the video. Brought back great memories.
I was born in 01 and moved here in 2012... sure do wish I grew up around this kind of myrtle instead of the trash we got here now.
It was certainly different then. So much better than it is now. It breaks my heart seeing what has been done to the place. I hate that you didn’t get to experience it.
Man i miss this MB, it’s a shell of what it used to be, but it’s still home
It’s not nearly what it was but I still love it there.

Good video 😀
Glad you enjoyed it
I think my parents moved here in '92.
I’d have loved to have lived there in that era. Thanks for watching! ❤️
Wow, nice!
The videos you see today are so much better than this is! 😊

After watching judging by the cars looks like late 1980s.

What’s the name of the first song that’s played?
2as there 2mo.ago it's nothing like this now. No longer family minded. Just not safe now
God I miss the Pavillion! Worst decision Myrtle Beach ever made was getting rid of it!
I agree 100%!
Music is horrible.
