    Will you please look on X the picture of bowers and gronk. Brock looks maybe 6'2 220 in that picture and I think after the combine measurements a lot of people are going to be put off using a premium pick on him and I suspect he'll go mid first 15-16th pick

    • @AlexReganNFL
      @AlexReganNFL  7 месяцев назад +1

      I saw the picture. Brock is an undersized “TE” he’s really a big slot, but the film doesn’t lie. Dude is more of a big slot receiving threat, and we’ve seen receiving TEs be crazy good in recent memory. I don’t care if he’s undersized, cause he’s way too good for me to care about measurements. He should be a Top 10 pick but will probably go mid round. I see him as a future All-Pro at the position, so I don’t care where he’s drafted he’s going to do great regardless.

    • @MrSepl12
      @MrSepl12 7 месяцев назад +2

      This is a significantly slimmed down Gronk too. Massive hands and could be a great receiver but calling him a TE feels like really stretching the definition of the position.

    • @AlexReganNFL
      @AlexReganNFL  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@MrSepl12 “TE” always in quotations. He really is a big slot, but it doesn’t matter. Dude is gonna be a beast regardless.

    • @MrSepl12
      @MrSepl12 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@AlexReganNFL The NFL can absolutely find a role for him. I would classify him as a slot back even though that's not a traditional position. I would expect him to line up in the slot, backfield and as a wing but would be pretty shocked to see him put a hand in the ground at the NFL level. He's not a slot receiver as that "role" is meant for the Edelman/Welker agility type, but he will be able to use his size and speed to excel as a receiver and should be able to match the blocking ability of an above average 3rd down backs.

    • @rodneyhewitt2772

    I'm not sold on tight ends that aren't blue-chip blockers. Guys like Kittle and Andrews just have a way of maxing an offenses all-around output that we seem to forget about every April.

    • @AlexReganNFL
      @AlexReganNFL  7 месяцев назад +1

      Kelce would like a word. Same with Kincaid, Njoku, Hockenson, Engram, and McBride. All those guys are slots who are receiving monsters who don’t block. Kittle and Andrews seem like the outliers who can receive AND block. Bowers gonna thrive as a receiving threat, and he might be the best at it. If he is, I don’t care how he blocks, and he’s not a terrible blocker, just not a plus blocker.

      @andrewcarlson4402 7 месяцев назад

      @@AlexReganNFL Those are some great receivers, but of the teams listed only the Bills were consistently a top-10 offense,. All the others struggled from a lack of balance, and even the Bills struggled mightily with RB production. All I'm saying is don't be surprised when blocking becomes cool again.

      @@andrewcarlson4402 I’m a blocking FANATIC! Offensive and defensive line were the positions I played in middle school (why did my coach put me there) and I’ve always loved the art of blocking and trench warfare in football. But a player like Bowers I can look past it. The Lions, Chiefs, Ravens making blocking and run game imperative. But if I’m a GM let me mess around and get a guy like Bowers that can replicate Kelce/Kittle/Hockenson production.

      @@AlexReganNFL I feel like it's fair to point out that the Lions traded Hockenson to what was (at the time) the best running team in their division, and their roles reversed not long after. The shift I'm thinking of might have already started.
      I'll be fair though, a lot of athletic tight ends do become great blockers when their coaches prioritize it. La Porta was widely regarded as ass in college (Iowa, go figure) but even as a rookie he stepped it up big time.

  • @wirebug42

    Honestly he reminds me of Jordy Nelson. I know thats a weird comp, positionally, but Brock is a weird prospect, positionally. And while it might look like I just did the white-player comp to white-player thing, I really do hate that and usually avoid it but I feel like Jordy fits too well. If I had to pick a TE to comp him to I'd actually go Waller instead of Kittle. Kittle is too good of a blocker, and was even good at it already as a prospect. Not to mention theres obviously a size discrepancy, but I think that will be true with essentially every single NFL TE comp since Brock is just undersized and theres no real getting around that. He plays much bigger than he is in the passing game, but has a lot of room to grow as a blocker. His playstyle in the passing game reminds me of Waller alot. The RAC and the catch point skills. Even though Waller is tall and that is a big part of how he dominates as a receiver, Brock seems to play alot taller than he is when it comes to contested catches and ends up looking like Waller. With the ball in their hands, speed is by far the biggest similarity I see between them. It's not often you see TEs pull away from DBs but they both seem to make it a habit. Granted, Kittle is pretty much the only other TE I think also has that same juice but his game is just all around too physical for me to see Brock. I think early-career Kelce wouldn't be a bad comp either, since he barely ever blocked and has always been more of a "finesse" guy than "power" in the passing game. But the second you throw Kelce out as a comp its hard to not think youre calling the prospect a HoF'r already.
    Great vid! Keep up the breakdowns!! Would love to see Rome, Penix, and Nix come soon

      Jordy Nelson is an interesting comp I’ll say 😂 They are similar sizes being 6’3 and great recievers. But Waller to me is a lot taller and plays a lot taller. To me Bowers is a tuck it and put your head down and run guy. I compare him to Kittle cause of their similar ability, route running, and speed. They feel very similar, but Kittle is a superior blocker. Love the long/essay comments ❤️. Rome Odunze is coming out this Tuesday/Wednesday

    there are videos on youtube of every bowers play in 22 and 23. you should watch them. 95% of bowers production comes on go routes, drags, screens and hand offs. he doesn’t run routes at all.
    his game won’t translate to the NFL. he rarely sits down in zone.
    great athlete but he is the debo samuel of TEs. can he “debo” the nfl? i doubt it.
    i am not saying he is a bust but he is not like sam laporta who is a great route runner. it’s gonna take bowers years unless he plays on a team where he is the #3 option where eyes are elsewhere

      Showing a dude running 10 Routes in 2 years isnt "showing his routes." anyone can do that. the question is: on what percentage of his plays does he actually run routes.
      Bowers is a very very awesome athlete, but to me, Bowers is more Xavier Lagette than Marvin Harrision Jr. He is an uber athlete with intriguing upside but i would not bet the house that he ever lives up to those athletic traits.
      Go through the following if you actually want to see how he produces. its 90% gimmick bullshit that wont work in the NFL. He isnt about to run end arounds in the NFL and go for 50 yards. he'll get stopped in the backfield every single time in the NFL on a jet sweep cuz at least 1 LB & Safety on every team runs a 4.55.
      There are very very few guys that i've seen "out athlete" the NFL. moss. TO. Debo for year and a few others. is bowers really in the class of athletes at those guys?
      Each video is about 20 min. you can forward through them.

      L comment. The videos on Bowers say the opposite. He's effective in both route running and wham blocks etc he's a multidimensional threat and was often the best player in big games at all positions on both sides of the ball. Against and alongside future NFL first rounders he was the best of them. Dude would be deadly receiving passes from either Herbert or Rodgers.

      I told you: Go through every single one of this touches in college. its like 15 real routes and 200 gimmick plays. he is basically the TE version of Debo samuals. Debo has had 1 great year in his career and got paid.
      To me, bowers is Xaveir Lagette. Amazing athlete. worth taking a chance on but he could be a big disappointment. Given the fact that the TE position is not that important, (a great slot WR usually out performs a TE), i wouldnt take Bowers before the middle of the 2nd round.
      I dont even think bowers is sam laporta.
      "multidimensional threat and was often the best player in big games"
      College aint the pros. you dont "out athlete" people in the pros. you have to be technically sound. There are plenty of super athletes that couldnt do well in the pros, like justin fields and chase claypool.
      Brock aint catching 5 yard screens or hand offs and taking it to the house in the NFL. in the NFL, he'd be a slow guy that runs a 4.6 and get caught by Defensive ends.
      These videos will show you every time bowers touched the ball in college. its 95% gimmick. He is an athlete, not a technically sound football player. buyer beware.
