and abandon into laughter
I have been on a deep path of disintegration for the past year. There have been many dissolutions before this, but this process has been the deepest. Time has slowed down somehow and given me the opportunity to meet myself in a way I never have before. I have seen and felt more than was ever possible before this time. It has been an incredibly painful, bewildering, confusing, clarifying and expansive time in my life.
Some of the deepest insights that have revealed themselves to me over this time and in the densest of moments, have been the most childlike. Today I finished a text that found its way into my hands this past summer in the height of some of my deepest egoistic pain. “The Laughing Prophet” written by OSHO, as a commentary on Friedrich Nietzches’ well known book “Thus Spoke Zarathustra.
The symbolism, the synchronicity of being gifted this text by a brother just as I was completing again for the 2nd time Thus Spoke Zarathustra was profound. I read this text in my teens, and my first tattoo on my right wrist at 18 years old was a line from Neitsche “Amor Fati”. Reading this text alongside a full mental disintegration felt like an ally walking alongside me in the void. Wide open, heart tears and laughter the words in this book felt like sentences from my own journal.
Some texts are allies in this life. These two are dear friends. Of course the last pages of the text brought me into such wild abandon, laughter and understanding of the comical and ridiculous nature of human life that I had to laugh at my self. My insecurities, my fears, my doubts, my confusion……such a silly human I can be sometimes. Such a silly little child wearing the costume of the world stage. May we laugh more and remember not only what we are…..but more importantly what we are not.
