This video goes over female hair aesthetics. There'll be another video for male hair aesthetics coming out soon as there's too much to properly fit in one video on the topic.
I have a co-worker with alopecia, she is completely bald and never wears a wig....she is so visually striking, she has a delicate looking head shape & beautiful features, also very petite....I have to remind myself not to stare at her (she is quite shy) she is so tiny & graceful, you just want to watch her...she dresses so feminine too...great vid as usual 👍
Adzack M I think my face is very feminine and “cute”. But I’m a guy. My skull is also very small. With medium longer hair I look my most attractive because it gives the illusion of a larger head. With long hair, I just look like a woman. Don’t mind it though.
if you think back when rihanna was basically just baby-rihanna, with that super-straight brown hair that made her forehead look enormous? meh. i'd alter that statement to: following the bob-era, her hair pretty much always looked great.
correction: if you're a man and ugly or average (which is the vast majority of men) you're fine. You won't be judged on your looks for jobs, your competency (which is to say: mediocrity) will be the only factor. Not your hairstyle, not your attractiveness, nor your age. Your looks will never matter much. You won't be reduced to an object. This world was created for and by men so of course. If you're a woman, you will be relentlessly judged on your looks and your only value will be your beauty (ie: whether or not you can make some dick hard). And YET, men will still whine and cry and complain on the internet about "being judged unfairly" because they don't look like Robert Redford. Male entitlement as always.
Valeria Sari you could always just shave the pointy part off to have it looking more straight. But it will most likely grow back so it would have to be a continuous thing
So weird I was literally talking with someone about this the other day! Average to unattractive people benefit so much more from the right hair color/style and good skin and makeup. A beautiful face will still be a beautiful face regardless of hairstyle. I've always cared so much about my hair and skin because it changes my look alot (obvs I'm below average 😂😭)
@@raven-kn6lv sucks don't it 😔 I'd love qoves to do a video on people's treatment of others based on appearance... Cause the difference can be night and day!
well, it’s more like: if you’re extremely attractive, you’ll look good with any hairstyle. most people in the world are not that attractive, so most people benefit from wearing the right hairstyles
A couple years ago I didn't care about my hairstyle AT ALL and I remember one of my friends telling me that I look like a fcking monkey and that pissed me a lot and now since I care about my hair and skin I don't get mocked as much as I was back then
A part of me is SO curious to have an aesthetic report done on my face. But at the same time I don’t have the self esteem right now to hear I’m scientifically ugly. 🙃
Why would u actually get that done lol. Thats seriously for ppl with BDD if youre thinking about your appearance to that extent go seek a psychologist forreal
@@ye23. I don’t know, I think it’s like getting your palm read or taking the Myers Briggs test. Just something to do to get a clearer understanding of yourself. I didn’t realize it was for people with BDD because I’m pretty sure the folks who run this channel offer it as a service?
Interesting, I have always perceived women with short hair to be more dominant and intelligent, as we can see in most movies with CEO roles, for example.
I agree, for example Rapunzel who is a textbook damsel in distress has looooooong hair and many women in such positions have long hair. Although those with short hair can also be pereceived as more playful.
I read up about this LITREALLY yesterday lmao. Its because when women compete for high positions they have to tone down their sex appeal and hair is a big part of that.
@@anderssong8707 yeah its more common in 50+ people but older people are usually the ones to be in high positions. Most of the time short hair also suites older people better bc their scalp is weak, think grandmas so they cut it anywats. It's not really a thing in younger women, think the pm Ardern of New Zealand vs Merkel of Germany.
I wonder how the study would change if they didn’t test only heterosexual attraction? Like would wlw have different views for which hair length/faces are attractive?
gremlins 347 I think most women look well with medium hair length because most women are average height. I do think there is a correlation between height, hair length, and perceived attractiveness.
I feel like girls appreciate a wider range of beauty(in themselves at least) There's a difference between what girls find attractive in themselves and what guys find attractive Don't know if there's any research on that.
It’s true, I’ve been thinking this the entire time. It’s been made clear to me by both this study and men in real life that they prefer “natural” makeup, long hair, and a slim body.
On the other hand I am super attracted to short hair and go back and forth between wanting Betty Boop hair and long hair 😅I shaved my head so it’s pretty short rn
I just want my hair to touch my shoulders in a twist out 😭 (I don’t really even mind shrinkage, I like that waist-length hair shrinks up, I just wish that I was already waist-length)
All hair is natural. How you choce to style it, its another thing. I love thick curly hair, but I also know how it looks when your hair is all over the place on the job interviews.
Alex Force you’re missing that among the black community there are people who to this day continually relax (chemically process) their hair. So their hair has been changed from its *natural* curl pattern to almost bone straight. Also in our community box braids, weaves, crotchet braids some styles use *synthetic* hair. These styles are very common to either emulate a more “acceptable” hairstyle for corporates environments or just personal preference.
@@ishish8816 I dont get the point of your comment. People in all communities do stuff to their hair. Its no different than making a choice how are you gonna dress. There is no discrimantion based on what looks afro and what doesnt.
@@alexforce9 Of course. But other race usually chemically alter their hair for aesthetic purposes. For years Black women did it solely to get a Job. That's the difference
@@irrelevance3859 I feel like there are other stuff black women could do to their hair to timid it besides playing with chemicals. Im not an expert hairdresser but there must be a few steps between letting your hair be as it wants and acid rain the shit out of it.
Have you seen that video of Boyinaband? Its called "how being ugly can make you attractive" or something. Its really insteresting. My advice is... Its not that big of a deal, there a are more things in life than being pretty 😌🤗
The interesting thing, is that what is considered and discriminated as Africentric hairstyles” is literally just women choosing the wear the hair that grows out of their head.
Yeah that part just reminded me why the crown act needs to be passed in all 50 states! So black women don’t feel the need to change their hair just to be able to get a job!
If your hair looks out of control or too frivolous then no matter what gender or race you are - people will not want to hire you. Its not anti African, its anti - unprofessional. A man or a woman from Scandinavia would not get hired if their long hair is all over the place. Or some german girl that looks like she is coming from the beerfest. All hairstyles are "literally just people choosing the wear the hair that grows out of their head"
@@alexforce9 I agree. Like you do you, but if I can't see the work/school presentation around your hair cuz you sat in front of me, you need to tone that down. My hair is very kinky and would be an afro if I let it down, but I have the decency to put it in a pony tail when I'm at work. On your own time, go crazy, puff that shit out, look fabulous. But at work/school, have some common courtesy. Like, black people don't have to straighten their hair. there are hundreds of hairstyles (that they're super defensive about. Blah blah cultural appropriation blah blah) that look professional and out of the way, but also really cute and even sexy. People that let their hair extend beyond the vertical limits of their shoulders in a work setting are just rude and unconscientious.
every two years I cut my hair back to shoulder length. Right now it’s almost reaching my hips, so I need to get the big cut again soon. It’s definitely interesting how different men see me with long hair vs. shoulder length . The hair lengths also seem to attract different kinds of men
hey! thanks for your comment, just out of curiosity: what type of men do you think are attracted to different hair lengths? for me, when i had short hair, it was no-one (lol), with really long hair, it was a lot of sleazebags and players, average guys didn't approach me and i feel like i was judged more on my perceived lack of intelligence, and now with mid-length hair, it's not as many as it used to be with the long hair, but it seems to attract less gross men and more normal ones. also, when i wore my hair wavy/curly i got less attention than now that i wear it straight. and i changed from brown to blonde recently but have noticed no significant change in men's behaviour. at the end of the day i don't care abt men's opinions on my hair and will do with it as i please, i just find it interesting lol
@@klara9698 I had similar experiences! Long hair definitely attracts more players, while the shoulder length hair seems to be more attractive to the nerdy type of guys. When I walk down the street and I wear my long blonde hair down a lot of men are looking at me. I also feel like there's a difference between brown and blonde hair, I think people don't take you as serious when you have long hair and its also blonde
@@xDRickiexD omg the brown/blonde thing was so true for me a while ago when i was obsessed with girly pink clothing. that plus the blonde hair somehow meant instant disrespect towards me from men and women alike. ridiculous. my fashion sense changes a lot tho, and when i caught an interest in baggy, cool skater apparel, people treated me with respect again. however i think that had more to do with my clothing than my hair colour. when you couple girly clothes with brown hair, you will still receive more respect than girly clothes and blonde hair. but i think hair colour alone doesn't dictate that, which is why i wrote in my other comment that i noticed no significant change in men's behaviour. it has to be the complete look 🤓
@@Izabela-ek5nh Curls are shit if you don't know how to take care of them. I have curly hair and is really bothersome to take care of the frizz and all the crap that has the curly hair.
I like your content...but I always get sad at the "there not much research/studies in this regarding black women". Seems to happen a lot. It can't be helped but it still hurts. 😞
Interesting, I personally find that women with shorter hair are more visually attractive (though I'm not romantically attracted to women I think). Longer hair feels more youthful, immature and warm to me, perhaps because it's usually kids who have (extremely) long hair here. On the other hand, short hair seems more dominant and intelligent to me. So I'm basically the complete reverse of these results... It's unfortunate that they only researched men in the studies mentioned because women, wlw or not, might have different perceptions on female hair beauty.
Well they didn’t have any information for black people so I’m sitting here like 👁👄👁 when he finally says it yeah they should have other women judge too
I agree long hair is associated with youth but I think that may be related to current trends. Long hair was much more common in the 60s/70s and you would often see it on people of all ages, today long hair is not as common, it's pretty rare to see long hair on older women.
Thank you for including the bit on afro textured hair. I have very kinky-curly, thick hair and when I first decided to cut my hair off and embrace my natural texture, my family was horrified. I realize that historically, this could alter my chances to be seen as desirable by men, get a good job, and avoid stares. Nowadays I wear my hair in a huge picked out fro and it gets tons of stares. People are amazed and perplexed by my texture as well as the fact that I actually like it. sad but true. There's always a fear in the back of my mind that because of my kinky hair I'm not actually attractive. As a young black girl you learn very quickly that long, wavy or even loose curls are more acceptable. Even with dating, I've gotten less attention from certain black men since they too prefer long hair (colorism+texturism for ya). I've fully embraced my texture and love it but it's certainly a journey to feel beautiful and feminine when you're taught from family and society that you won't be wanted if you wear your natural texture. Surprisingly, I get a lot of positive feedback on my hair texture from non black people compared to black people, and that just goes to show how conditioned we are to not like our own texture.
Yes, hair is so important. It either makes you look more attractive or less. If my hair gets really long it makes my overall appearance look frumpy and it doesn't go with my body shape. I go with a medium length style and bangs to enhance the youthfulness in my face.
@Sophia yeah like for instance right now withing teens (especially since im one) tend to keep their eyebrows shorter or thicker and sometimes make it look straight across their face making it look very bold. So eyebrows change quite a bit especially if you try to compare 1920s eyebrows (which are very thing, rounded, and long which is like the complete opposite)
That's pretty rare mate. Most of the Chinese people in my life have pin straight hair, unless they iron it (pretty obv to spot too). Where r u from if ya don't mind me asking?
If you are female it really doesn't matter you will still be attractive to some men at all times it's just probably what you yourself wouldn't deem as attractive but as a man in that situation they will be unattractive regardless to everyone.
(might have already commented this somewhere idk I can't remember) As someone with a more or less androgynous face, it's just a mix of masculine and feminine features. Take into consideration race as well - I'm east-Asian, so the lines between 'male' and 'female' faces are more blurred. Using myself as an example, I have: feminine features - softer jaw, oval/heart face shape, fuller (pouty-ish?) lips, smaller but tall straight nose masculine features - thick eyebrows, narrow long eyes (flat monolids lol), short hair (some kind of two-block haircut. idk search up Korean 2 block haircut and it'll probably come up).
Haha, just went from a bob to buzz cut. I love how androgenous I look instead of typically girlie-girl. Love Furiousa, Ellen Ripley, Natalie Portman, etc etc. I couldn't care less how attractive men find me, it's how I feel that matters.
Cloudy last month I cut my hair to shoulder length, I have a round face too and it worked fine for me! You can try it, you can just tell the hairdresser to cut off less first to see how it looks and then see from there:)
Cloudy I think with round faces the key is to cut the hair in such a way that it doesn’t put emphasis on the roundness. Don’t get me wrong round faces are beautiful but there’s no need to make your face look rounder than it actually is. For example if you cut your hair so it’s a Bob at say chin length it may distort proportions and make ur face look rounder and shorter than it truly is. That’s what happens to me anyway 😂 but I’d say go for it just do some research on your face shape and make sure it’s in line with your preferred style
@Cloudy Ginnifer Goodwin has a round face and looks pretty amazing. If you have some longer hair at the top it will balance your features a bit more. Slick your hair back and if it suits your face/body...just go for it. Hair grows back and hey, its quarantine so ugly haircuts can be very easily hidden hehe ;)
@@jonahschwickert oh damn idk for me i kinda have a oval/trianglely face shape i think and when i cut my hair short my jaw looks really round and my entire face looks bigger
All the people in the comments saying that they're ugly so they are damned, this video analyzes attractiveness only in respect to appearance. Usually the combination of some physical features with personality traits go so well together that it makes you very attractive. In the end of the day, the person that will be attracted to you will be someone that knows you to some extent (and this is preferrable to a total stranger being attracted to you) so personality is definitely something that plays a huge role in attractiveness. Don't be dissapointed!
He hasn't specifically covered foreheads but has mentioned the desirable shape. For females it was a large rounded forehead (1/3 of the face.) for men it was a smaller and flat forehead. Hope that helps :) For more accurate information watch his video on skull shapes.
I think bangs suit large forehead s.. depending on your face shape.. usually oval face shapes and heart face shapes have large foreheads so if you have oval or heart shaped face bangs would definitely suit you.
I really appreciate that you went into black women's hair as well, a lot of videos in this general genre just skip black hair but you really went into it so, BIG PROPS
I'm a guy and growing out my hair was the best decision i could make (+healthy weight loss, end of acne, better clothing and self care in general). It just made much more sense to my face, i can't explain in a better way (i do look good with short hair too, but not as much)
Can you do one on the affect race mixing has on a persons perceived attractiveness? I know that might be getting into some controversial territory especially when you consider topics like the history of colorism. But I definitely find it an interesting topic and worth exploring. I tend to wonder if the appeal of mixed race features has more to do with genetics or history.
Imo alot of the time people mostly date outside their race if someone is very obviously attractive whereas with their own race people might still date an average looking face. So when people of different races get together and are attractive they have attractive children. Alot of the mixed raced girls we know tend to be attractive, probably for that reason. It’s also probably to do with having the ‘best of both worlds’ in which they look familiar enough with your own race that you have a more solid opinion on whether the person is attractive or not (some people have trouble deciding on the attractiveness of races they don’t grow up around) but are also different enough from your own race that they stand out/look more unique.
I know people hate when I say this but mixed people are typically more beautiful than non mixed. I always have to clarify this because people are always on the defence, you have physically beautiful people and not as physically beautiful people in every ethnicity. There are times when a mixed person is less attractive than a non mixed person. When I say mixed people assume I mean half black and half white but mixed includes all ethnicities like half black half south Asian, half East Asian half south Asian, half white half south Asian etc. It doesn’t always imply half white half black I think people forget that. I have a theory that is isn’t unusual for someone of mixed heritage to be strikingly beautiful because they inherited unique dna from both parents such as immunity to specific diseases and the more healthier someone is the more physically attractive they are as a subconscious sign for potential mates to show that they’re very health. I also think some ethnicities have very small features in comparison to other ethnicities and vice versa so when two people procreate their offsprings feature won’t be so small or so big but somewhere in between making for a more harmonious and balanced face.
Sly CANdí I disagree. There’s a difference between who one finds physically attractive, and who one chooses to date, with a greater variability in the latter. But I do agree that familiarity + exoticism and societal biases for certain races plays a major role in what people find attractive. Race is not a biological construct, it is a social one. And particularly within the US, it is used as a marker of status and potential social mobility within the economic system. In other countries that value homogeneity in their society and beauty constructs, those who would be considered pretty and exotic in the US would be considered average or ugly in respective countries.
Ash Ash I actually remember reading a study awhile ago about how black-white mix faces were considered more attractive on average in comparison to just black or just white faces, but I don’t think it has to do with features being too big or too small in other races and in mixed faces the features are just right, things like having a small narrow nose or pretty, fuller eyes are generally viewed as attractive because it’s correlated with higher levels of estrogen, but that only applies to females. I guess that also depends on what your defining as medium sized features though. But yeah you’re definitely right about mixed faces being more attractive, at least when it comes to black-white mixes, here’s two quotes from the study I’m referring too. “Experiment 1 provided evidence that facial features and skin tone have an interactive effect on perceptions of attractiveness and mixed-race faces are perceived as more attractive than single-race faces.” “Experiment 2 further confirmed that faces with medium levels of skin tone and facial features are perceived as more attractive than faces with extreme levels of these factors.” I have no idea why this is actually the case though because the study didn’t present a theory, I think you might just be more likely to get features that are the best of both worlds, fuller lips (because they’re more common in Africans,) smaller nose (because they’re more common in Europeans,) straighter hair types, some levels of skin pigment (reduces your chances of skin cancer and helps prevent sun damage on your skin, one of the leading cases of aging, etc) but I have no idea
appreciate the scientific take supporting what we already suspect - if you're beautiful, you can wear any hairstyle. if you're ugly, better stick with the norm for your phenotype.
Storytime (it is a bit stupid, but i need to get this of my chest, especially bc i saw this video now😅) i always liked short hair on myself. but about 4 years ago I was often in clubs with a friend who has very long, blond dyed hair, which is quite noticeable. I noticed that the guys usually approached her first. and i know that sounds stupid now, but purely from the appearance i have a face that corresponds more to the ideal of beauty. That made me very insecure (I know you shouldn't measure your worth by it, but I was 16 years old and just wanted to be pretty). I decided to let my hair grow out, to see if it would changes anything. I have very thick, blonde hair that now reaches my waist. And my plan "worked". Whenever I wear my hair down, I notice a lot more looking and am often spoken to. But to be honest, that confuses me more and more. I don't want my self-confidence to depend on such a mundane thing. I've been thinking more and more about cutting it off lately. But i'm afraid of being overlooked again because i have short hair. I know that sounds stupid, but i've been clinging to my hair for so long that i have trouble believing i can do without it. Of course, the character counts much more, but still, one first perceives the external appearance. I also like my hair very much, but I'm always hot, especially in summer, even when I tie it up. I'm trying to convince myself to just do it. To all who are still there: thanks for reading this, i just wanted to get rid of it😋, by the way, it is translated with google translator if there are any errors
Girl I feel the same . I always had thick long hair since young age and was often told that your beauty is measured by your hair. I would cut it only to my shoulder length to hide my round face. But this year I went all out I got my long hair shorter to my chin level. I feel so relief and accepting it that I am beautiful regardless of my hair. 💓
Same. I had very short hair and none approached me in the clubs we went to. When i grew it out the difference was huge. And now i don't know what to do because i loved my short hair but my confidence really depends on being hit on by guys and i know it shouldn't.
i had 24 inches of hair before i got a buzzcut.i cut it last year and now i am 17.personally iam more confident now than i was before. But even now when i feel great there are some people who would decide to take time of their day to come up to me and tell me that i am ugly with short hair and that a "women is supposed to have long hair".I dont even know how to reply to these people. just cut it and the feeling is just so liberating.
So basically if you're beautiful then no matter what hairstyle you wear it doesn't make that much of a difference but people lower on the looks scale can greatly benefit from the right long hairstyle? Qoves, I'm curious on your opinion about different men having different starting points for what they perceive as being attractive and this affecting the rating they give women. You listed a study in which men were asked to rate women and it made me think of all the times where I have seen women who I thought were just average looking or even pretty but nothing spectacular, yet other guys ranted and raved about these women being the pinnacle of gorgeousness. I realized that the common theme with all these men who did this was that they never dated a woman as attractive as the women I normally date. So in a sense I was so used to being around a certain standard of attractiveness that it no longer wowed me like it did them. I can almost guarantee that if me and some of those men were on that survey panel we would rate the same woman vastly differently. Anyway I'm agreeing with you that there are certain features that define beauty, however, what are your thoughts on this?
Thats a good point, although not mentioned in the video, scientists do account for these confounding effects in the participant and judge selection process and often dismiss upto 75% of the applicants for failing these controlled variable criteria such as neurotypicality.
Am I the only one that wants a video for big heads? Not foreheads, the whole head as a female. I’d be so grateful for a video about this. How to style it, does it make you unattractive?
As a black woman, I can say the chemical straightener did nothing for my features. I find it made everything on my face look overly large. The reactions people have to me with my kinky hair went from neutral(with straight, flat hair) to quite positive (with my kinks). This is literally the only reason I'm keeping it natural at this point, even though it's more time consuming 😥😥😂
Yeah I think 99% of the time the hair we are born with compliments our features best. In my opinion there's nothing prettier than a black woman with her natural hair.
This is great. I appreciate the work you put into researching this subject and making sure to cover different hair types and textures and the social implications that come with them. More people should watch this.
I love short hair on females, its a nice change to see a difference. Looks hot as hell too, long hair is nice also but 99.9999% of females have it and just feels bland.
This is so interesting . I’m black and I’ve previously worn wigs with round hairlines , this completely masculinised my facial features abs made my face look bigger . I then cut the hairline of the wig to fall in line with my natural hairline , this helped and now I wear my natural hair more and I must say I love my hair line and curly hair . It makes me look feminine and softer . Knowing what suits you hair wise is so important!
@@caseyjc5 my comment wasn't a diss, but an actual realisation that this is accepted worldwide. Meaning, some people can never attain the beautiful/attractive status simply due to them not meeting a criteria.
He has explained time and time again that there are universal features that are beautiful everywhere. He must be sick of reading these comments after he has pointed this out kindly many many times!
I disagree with some points of the video, I think that you need to take into account kibbe types or basically the type of face you have into consideration with hair too. Yes a pretty face looks pretty no matter what and an a conventionally “unattractive” face will not magically get pretty with a different haircut. But for example, the short bangs and pixie cut look perfect on say Audrey Hepburn but would look kind of awful on Megan Fox. And long wavy hair would have dragged Audrey’s face down while it looks exquisite on Megan Fox. So your type of face (meaning shape, shape and size if features, bone structure) are important to consider for hair
Yes! I look amazing with pixies, but I always wondered why long hair made me look tired. It's exactly what you said about Audrey: it drags down my face and hides my features. It's weird explaining that though, to look better bald then with any hairstyle that goes past my chin. But there's another channel on YT called Aly Art who goes into beauty and face shapes and which hair looks best with which features, and I think you might like her channel/find it useful.
okay but why this is all solely based on female attractiveness from a male's perspective???? what about women's attractiveness from the female perspective?
i just love short hair in women, either have gamine face or round face. i feel it makes faces brighter. for me long hair must be healthy to look good or at least to not look flat. also when i cut it til my chin i notice i do more eye contact with people in street, also feel strangers tend to be a little more kindly with me in daily situations... than when i use it long. i think its because it makes my face looks more joyful or childhish (i also use straight bangs) so yeah, this is funny but a REAL feeling.
gremlins 347 it’s so confusing why women are typically expected to have long hair when men have more testosterone so their hair can grow faster and stuff lmao
I am a white person and i was born with curly hair. It is true that people perceive me as an older person. People see my hair and say things like "80's hair". I am only 19, and people treat me as 25-30 y.o.
So glad you touched on the black hair issue. Well done video across the board. Even among black people we get strife for wearing our curls. I have mine out lately and my grandmother thinks it is 'too big" and "messy" she grew up when it wasn't done to have afro hair. Even I have the same 'too much' feeling in a way because when I leave to go out of the house I pin down much of the hair on the sides to form a 'more respectable' 'neater' side parted bob framing my face, and make sure as they say, to 'define my curls' rather than have the high statement hair surrounding your whole face like a flower. And this version of my hair is the only one said older black woman will compliment.
I would say i'm not the most attractive person but short hair makes my face look better than long hair. Long hair just makes my face look out of proportion.
Oh yes let's judge our beauty through men's eyes. That's been really healthy over the years. Wear the fuck you want, its about how you feel good not about how appealing you are to the male gaze
This is true, I always put so much effort in my hair, taking good care of it, growing it long, curling it overnight every night, and putting it in a specific shape that alters the shape of my face, making it look less flat and more curvy and hiding my rather big forehead, it's especially obvious on a more side view, and I cannot go anywhere without my hair looking at least somewhat decent, or else my self-esteem goes 📉
I like how you discussed the cultural perceptions because people are going to see a deeper beauty in what they are used to. I am guessing those who took the survey and rated long hair as very attractive are used to being around women with long hair. I will give you an instance: In this video, I personally think the most beautiful woman is the black girl in a black dotted dress and short afro hair at 7:49 . I had to replay her part several times because to me, she is absolutely gorgeous, however, some others will not perceive the same due to the effect of unfamiliarity. When humans advance mentally to being able to appreciate the differences in the world around them, then we can all start to see the beauty in everyone and everything.
I have a neighbor who is 18 and he is 5'7, recessed chin, healthy well kept hair but bad hairline, with crossed eyes, asymetric skull, but he got a great shredded physique and a lean and clear face. He looks like a Greek statue even though he was born with disadvantageous features. Don't lose hope.
As a woman with strong and masculine features I can't have short hair. It makes my face looks harsh. I was in a relationship with this man while my hair was long and beautiful; I went so short that he started loosing interest in me. I know ya'll gonna say" Well he didn't love yoy" although partly of it was true I must say that the hair does play an important part part in a woman. I've seen men totally in attracted to women and showed them off, they would cut it and boom!! All attractiveness dissapeared.
Parent wouldn’t let me cut my hair short because I’d “look like a boy”. Tbh if just cutting my hair makes me look like a boy, I already looked like one in the first place lmao
Well I'm a guy with long hair & I occasionally get the "you look like a girl" & "get a haircut dude" comments but I simply don't care what others got to say about my appearance.
@ QOVES Studio make a video about long hair on men . cause its very different there . its like a magnify glass which enhance good looking rugged masculine faces and works very bad on allrdy below average or very feminine faces . - increase perceived necksize of men ( if we talk about ideal brunette wavy hair on men ) looking like a lion mane increase skull size and intimidate therefore - works best on males on extreme physical end like jason momoa type . very tall , broad frame , rugged face can counteract very sharp rugged face and make it softly and get that maesthethic look . only makes feminine guys more feminine but extreme masculine guys dont look more feminine
I'm grateful I can pull off short hair. I actually shaved my head completely before. Men, women, and children all respond positively. Good that you pointed out the discrimination against Black people with our natural hair.

As someone with a more or less androgynous face, it's just a mix of masculine and feminine features. Take into consideration race as well - I'm east-Asian, so the lines between 'male' and 'female' faces are more blurred.
Using myself as an example, I have:
feminine features - softer jaw, oval/heart face shape, fuller (pouty-ish?) lips, smaller but tall straight nose
masculine features - thick eyebrows, narrow long eyes (flat monolids lol), short hair (some kind of two-block haircut. idk search up Korean 2 block haircut and it'll probably come up).

Finally, it's here!

Ooooooo as a halfie boi this would be hella interesting
Ash Ash
I actually remember reading a study awhile ago about how black-white mix faces were considered more attractive on average in comparison to just black or just white faces, but I don’t think it has to do with features being too big or too small in other races and in mixed faces the features are just right, things like having a small narrow nose or pretty, fuller eyes are generally viewed as attractive because it’s correlated with higher levels of estrogen, but that only applies to females. I guess that also depends on what your defining as medium sized features though. But yeah you’re definitely right about mixed faces being more attractive, at least when it comes to black-white mixes, here’s two quotes from the study I’m referring too.
“Experiment 1 provided evidence that facial features and skin tone have an interactive effect on perceptions of attractiveness and mixed-race faces are perceived as more attractive than single-race faces.”
“Experiment 2 further confirmed that faces with medium levels of skin tone and facial features are perceived as more attractive than faces with extreme levels of these factors.”
I have no idea why this is actually the case though because the study didn’t present a theory, I think you might just be more likely to get features that are the best of both worlds, fuller lips (because they’re more common in Africans,) smaller nose (because they’re more common in Europeans,) straighter hair types, some levels of skin pigment (reduces your chances of skin cancer and helps prevent sun damage on your skin, one of the leading cases of aging, etc) but I have no idea

Storytime (it is a bit stupid, but i need to get this of my chest, especially bc i saw this video now😅)
i always liked short hair on myself. but about 4 years ago I was often in clubs with a friend who has very long, blond dyed hair, which is quite noticeable. To all who are still there: thanks for reading this, i just wanted to get rid of it😋, by the way, it is translated with google translator if there are any errors
gurl, same.
Cut it and donate your hair to a cancer charity. You will feel better 😘
Eagerly waiting for Your video about men hairstyle
This was a soft flex

Love your channel, was talking to my boyfriend about it yesterday. Your content is very informative and entertaining. Thank you!
But I love my shorter hair - I feel it looks so much better and well groomed.
then keep it!!
Same here. I love my short hair, it makes me feel more comfortable, beautiful and confident. Also I've noticed that people look at me more than ever.
Am I the only one that wants a video for big heads? Not foreheads, the whole head as a female. I’d be so grateful for a video about this. How to style it, does it make you unattractive?
I really appreciate you talking about the negative perceptions of black kinky hair. it’s nice seeing this issue get awareness ❤️
The back of my head is very flat, so I can’t ever cut my hair because my head will look like the letter D
I have that head shape too, but I have a pixie, you just need to inform the hairdresser, they can make it work
Candace from phineas and ferb kind of vibe?
i absolutely love that this channel includes beauty standard issues/complications for people of color.
YESSSS best way to start my day ✨
The amount of thought and work put into these videos is really appreciated
I love short hair on females, its a nice change to see a difference. Looks hot as hell too, long hair is nice also but 99.9999% of females have it and just feels bland.
This is so interesting . I’m black and I’ve previously worn wigs with round hairlines , this completely masculinised my facial features abs made my face look bigger . I then cut the hairline of the wig to fall in line with my natural hairline , this helped and now I wear my natural hair more and I must say I love my hair line and curly hair . It makes me look feminine and softer . Knowing what suits you hair wise is so important!
Was there any research/data about non-women of color who went to job interviews with curly hair and their call backs?
Im a white girl and I have really curly hair, I got scolded by my advisor for having my hair unkept 😑

this channel is heavily concentrated on western beauty standards!! makes sense why it is so desired everywhere!!
@@caseyjc5 He is from Australia.
@@caseyjc5 my comment wasn't a diss, but an actual realisation that this is accepted worldwide. Meaning, some people can never attain the beautiful/attractive status simply due to them not meeting a criteria.
@@caseyjc5 No definetely Australia.
He is also either Indian or south east asian by ethnicity.
So your type of face (meaning shape, shape and size if features, bone structure) are important to consider for hair
agreed. I am average looking but short hair makes me look really attractive because of my face shape.
Hey, love your videos! Why did you delete a couple of episodes in the defining beauty series? I would love to watch the complete series
They'll be back up soon!
QOVES Studio were u updating them on accuracy? (I only ask since I noticed u took down the vid w the mewing which is hella controversial)
@@QOVESStudio Could u plz specify who the model at 4:17 is?? 🤔✌️
okay but why this is all solely based on female attractiveness from a male's perspective???? what about women's attractiveness from the female perspective?
i just told my friend that my natural hair texture suits me better.
I really want more research on how women view other women's attractiveness. Especially sapphics.
I'm an woman and i think long hair looks best on the female gender
Great video. I just wish there was more about bangs and hairstyles
i just love short hair in women, either have gamine face or round face. i feel it makes faces brighter. for me long hair must be healthy to look good or at least to not look flat. also when i cut it til my chin i notice i do more eye contact with people in street, also feel strangers tend to be a little more kindly with me in daily situations... than when i use it long. i think its because it makes my face looks more joyful or childhish (i also use straight bangs) so yeah, this is funny but a REAL feeling.
I personally think long hair makes men more attractive. If guys didn't cut their hair it can often grow thicker and longer than women's hair.
gremlins 347 it’s so confusing why women are typically expected to have long hair when men have more testosterone so their hair can grow faster and stuff lmao
I don't find long hair attractive in men at all!!Such as Jason Momoa😶
I have no idea of how other straight woman perceive men with longer hair, though.
Men have better eyelashes and long legs, too
@@ojyochan exactly! And men also have thigh gaps more often than women. Some of the things women compete to have are often masculine traits.

you're beautiful with any hairstyle you feel most comfortable in, don't change yourself for any man

I am a white person and i was born with curly hair. It is true that people perceive me as an older person. People see my hair and say things like "80's hair". I am only 19, and people treat me as 25-30 y.o.
This makes me happy since everyone says short hair looks better on me
Ladies do whatever hair you want....your partner will love you with or without hair!
Do importance of cheek bones and ian somerhalder
he already made a video on cheekbones
Oh yes let's judge our beauty through men's eyes. That's been really healthy over the years. Wear the fuck you want, its about how you feel good not about how appealing you are to the male gaze
this! im nonbinary and i want to cut my hair short to look androgynous for myself, not for some random men
this gives me aggressive 'go best friend' vibes and im loving it
that’s what I was thinking lol. If people want to follow this good for them but I like short hair so I’ll keep mine short even though I’m ugly ^^
It's an educational video about perception. No one is suggesting women alter their looks for the male gaze.

You should do one on physiques
Well I'm a guy with long hair & I occasionally get the "you look like a girl" & "get a haircut dude" comments but I simply don't care what others got to say about my appearance.

make a video about long hair on men . cause its very different there .
its like a magnify glass which enhance good looking rugged masculine faces and works very bad on allrdy below average or very feminine faces .
- increase perceived necksize of men ( if we talk about ideal brunette wavy hair on men ) looking like a lion mane
increase skull size and intimidate therefore
- works best on males on extreme physical end like jason momoa type . very tall , broad frame , rugged face
can counteract very sharp rugged face and make it softly and get that maesthethic look .
only makes feminine guys more feminine but extreme masculine guys dont look more feminine
Zendaya and other celebs with small ears can pull of hoops but sometimes it can be too enlarged 😮
can you please take about the beauty standards in African cultures
I'm grateful I can pull off short hair. I actually shaved my head completely before. Men, women, and children all respond positively. I found that elderly men of all racial groups really like it, and a few have associated it with Vogue (not sure why, but it's a common response). I feel like a lot of women have the luxury of hiding behand their hair, so if you're a woman and are still considered beautiful without hair, that says a lot.
