Old guy here. The Chiefs may 3peat IF they can dodge the injury bug. As long as none of the major contributors sustain any nasty injuries, they have a good chance.
Chris Jones almost HAS to double teamed, because he will blow up the Oline and their plays. The Chiefs need one more Dline guy to clean up behind him.
Worthy was amazing, the hype is true. On the end around, when he turned the corner, he hit 5th gear and just blew thru their defense like a hurricane. Ravens didn’t know what hit them. On the TD catch after the busted coverage, Worthy turned and caught the ball, then spun 180 degrees, and accelerated in 1 smooth motion. That was awesome to see. I’m waiting for his opportunity when Andy calls his #1 to just run down the field as fast as you can for the BOMB!
Once Brown comes back, and the Chiefs offense gets in the flow, they are going to be incredibly hard to stop.

The Pats were the only ones that didn’t seem to have the obstacles but just couldn’t get it done.
It’s not about no team ever 3 peating before. It’s just because winning the Super Bowl is hard. The Chiefs have maybe the most talented QB in his prime, an elite defense, a great coaching staff and maybe the best roster they’ve had Mahomes entire career.

Spags called one of the most vanilla defenses he's called in a long time. Those exotic blitz packages that generally end in an unblocked rusher to the QB were nowhere to be seen. I don't think he called a corner blitz all night. If he called a blitz, it was a linebacker who showed early and was the obvious extra guy. Also, i think Chris Jones gave Lamar a little professional courtesy on their first drive. Jones busted through the tackle and guard, then kinda got held, but through his hands up to try to block the pass instead of pummeling Lamar. If it was playoffs, i think Lamar would have been demolished on that play. Also, I do love the fact that they got Worthy a passing TD and rushing TD week 1. Chiefs said, "we're just gonna get that monkey off your back tonight." No season long questions of when is he going to find the endzone or when is he going to get a passing TD instead of just a pitch and run TD... Job done, let's play football. Soon Brown will be back to make the defense choose who they're going to double.

The Chiefs were very lucky to win this game. They left 10 to 17 points on the field and you typically don't win against a good team when you don't capitalize on your chances. But this was week one and they usually get better as the season progresses. They are also very deep on offense this year so when injuries happen you don't lose as much as other teams. This is week one, game one. Yes they CAN repeat but I'm very far from saying they will.

The Pacheco drop when Mahomes hit him in stride would’ve likely resulted in a touchdown, the Perine drop when there were no Ravens defenders in the area at MINIMUM cost them 3. In the not too distant future, teams are going to be FORCED to stop double teaming Kelce. At that point, it is literally game over for any defense. Even without HB, the KC offense had its way with the BAL defense for most of the game. Think back to the AFCCG. In that game, KC'd offense managed a couple early TDs but was largely impotent. The change is stark and it leads me to believe the KC offense is going to dominate in 2024.

Can we calm down a little bit and see a few more games before we call him a success. Dude might not get another TD for weeks. I think the Ravens will struggle to make the playoffs.
The reason is the combination of their depleted O line, the way Jackson had to run and take tons of contact as a result of that bad O line and the fact that he is really not a serious downfield threat, especially when under duress. He is a great runner and a great scrambler (not same thing). But he is oot on a level with a guy like Mahomes or Elway when it comes to making consistently GOOD passes when under duress.
The Ravens were fools to allow their Offensive line require 3 new players. It is also likely that their dept on the O line is not good either. When you have great talent at the QB position, you INVEST in the O line. This is even more important for a guy who needs a clean pocket to be an effective passer.
