    Hello viewers,
    Welcome to my channel EASY ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY. This channel aims to make chemistry easy for Engineering students.
    ABOUT THIS VIDEO
    In this video I am going discuss Numericals based on Zeolite or Permutit process of water softening . Zeolite/Permutit method is an External method of water treatment. In exams Numericals based on Water softening methods are frequently asked and numericals are always marks scoring if you do correctly. In this this video zeolite process based numericals are explained in three very easy steps with short trick to solve this type of numericals.
    Viewers,
    If you find this video helpful then please LIKE it , SHARE it and SUBSCRIBE my channel EASY ENGINEERING CHEMISTRY.
    It will be a motivation to keep making such videos. Do share your feedback and suggestion after watching the video in comment box.
    It will take your few seconds only but it is very important for me for further improvement.
    Thank you for watching.
    In Short trick we take weight of NaCl in mg for one litre. So you write unit of W mg/l instead of mg.

    Ma'am can we do it through normality equation

    • @easyengineeringchemistry3057
      @easyengineeringchemistry3057  10 месяцев назад

      yes. First we have to calculate normality of NaCl solution from given strength then we can apply N1V1=N2V2 for water and NaCl to get normality of water and finally calculate strength of CaCO3 in water then convert it in mg/l.
      Hope you got it. Keep watching and sharing😊

    Equivalent weight of calcium carbonate is 50 and mol wt is 100 so it means mam is making mistake at 9:01 in video multiplicating factor should be 100/58.5 because we are taking molecular wt of both compounds

    • @easyengineeringchemistry3057
      @easyengineeringchemistry3057  4 месяца назад

      No, there is no mistake actually it is misconception that multiplication factor is = Molar mass of CaCO3/ Molar mass of salt but
      multiplication factor = 100/ 2x chemical equivalent of salt/substance. Here salt is NaCl and its equivalent weight is 58.5 (Molecular and equivalent weight are same for NaCl) So
      M.F. = 100/2x 58.5 = 100/117.
      To clear you concept of multiplication factor watch video "Hardness and its units".

      Hope your doubt will be cleared if not feel free to ask.

    Molecular wt of nacl is 58.5 why there put 117

    • @easyengineeringchemistry3057
      @easyengineeringchemistry3057  2 года назад +2

      Molecular weight and equivalent weight of nacl both are 58.5 and 100/117 is the multiplication factor of nacl to convert nacl into CaCO3 equivalent.
      Formula for Multiplication factor is
      =100 /( 2x chemical equivalent )
      so for nacl 100/(2x58.5)
      =100 /117.
      You can also use 50/58.5 instead of 100/117.
      For concept of multiplication factor watch video Hardness and its units on channel.
      keep watching.
