    • @PrimaryFocus
      @PrimaryFocus  7 месяцев назад +158

      Don’t stop- just ask. I talk about this a little more in the linked video on this short, but there are a number of reasons why it’s more considerate to plan with the teacher ahead of time instead of sending in treats unannounced. But for this short, the point is it’s not actually a gift for the teacher, it’s a gift for students.

      Teacher here. Don’t stop. I love when parents or kids bring in something for special days. It warms my heart thinking about parents taking the time to go to the store to purchase items and caring enough to share with everyone. Treats can always be distributed at the end of the day. No problem.

    2. How to you politely ask a teacher if they drink wine?

    • @PrimaryFocus
      @PrimaryFocus  10 месяцев назад +192

      Great question! This video is a parody, but I actually have a whole playlist of teacher gift guides on my channel 😃
      When in doubt always yes to a gift card! Not sure your age or what country you live in…Wine is tricky if you live in the USA because it’s illegal on public school grounds or for the child to possess it (even if it’s a gift). But otherwise just have the parent ask what kind of wine they like. It can feel awkward, but we’d rather be asked than have you waste money.

    • @crystalkerstal

      See, this is everything. A couple of my daughter’s teachers had told me that they never got anything from a parent and they appreciated everything I did for them. I didn’t only spoil them for teacher appreciation, but on random days, with some coffee, bagels, muffins, etc. Or the list you get from pta that teachers fill out. I appreciate all teachers and staff because you never know when a conversation or an incident will shape or change the direction for any kid for the better. Plus, teachers and staff are literally our child’s parents for the same amount of time we spend during the week with them. Because a third is them sleeping, while teachers spend almost one third with them🫶🏻 I tell some of the teachers I trust, in telling them they have permission to give her detention, take away her lunch, take away privileges, and wink wink i tell some I say they have permission to pull her by her ears or throw the chancla at her if she ever disrespects them/talks back, staff, or anyone at that, etc. LOL They all laugh and say she’s a good kid. I just know you guys deal with so much and kids nowadays have parents defend them even when they are wrong and disrespectful. I didn’t grow up that way, and try my best to instill those values to my daughter. As a parent who’s volunteered a lot, you are very much appreciated🫶🏻

    I don't mind class treats too much. I just let them sit until dismissal and then pass them out as the kids go out the door. Thankfully we are still in No-Parents-In-The-Classroom-Unless-Volunteering mode, so they can't show up unannounced with boxes of sugar. Best rule ever, hope it never goes away!
    What I can't handle is parents who send treats and there isn't enough for all children to have one. You would THINK this would never happen, but it's amazing how many times we've been sent a pizza cut into too few slices, or packs of cupcakes where the packs are different flavors (maybe good intentions, but I've never had this happen without at least one kid crying as a result), not enough birthday goodie bags, etc. If we get goodie bags, I spend part of my lunch doing a count. Too many bad experiences. Once a parent sent 20 Trader Joe's advent calendars with chocolates. Would have been an awesome holiday gift, but we had 22 kids... thankfully some were absent that day!!! I almost had a panic attack when I saw those things and didn't breathe a sigh of relief until after morning recess when it was finally safe to assume those kids were truly absent and not just late (we have a chronic tardy problem at our school).
    Coming in at a close second, parents who send treats that require cups, plates, spoons, etc., but don't send those things. Really? 🤨

      That handmade painting is a wonderful idea. Before giving chocolate and coffee, it should be considered whether or not they enjoy consuming those things. When I was a teacher, I received SO MANY gift cards for coffee, and I can't drink it. So I would have much rather have something handmade like a painting or note instead of them paying for something I couldn't use.

    I use to always let parents know that any treats should not include anything from the common allergy list and that they will be given in the final hour of the kids time with me. So have fun with your hyperactive kid! 😂

    Some of these comments are so full of angry, hostility, bitterness, and rudeness. Even on my most miserable days I would never think about saying some of the things I've read in these comments. I'm not a teacher, but if I were, I would want a Dad of a kid in my class coming on to me either. I can certainly understand about doughnuts not only for the sugar high but for the sticky fingers all those kids are going to have afterwards. As for the Victoria Secrets, that's a preference and is her right. She's not being rude, mean, or even saying she doesn't appreciate the gifts she's given. She's simply giving a point of view.

    Yeah, you might not want sugar for your class, but you could do it always at the end of the day! It’s perfectly fine because nothing will interrupt your class cause it’s time to leave anyway.

      I appreciate your opinion, however I would like to point out that that is not always an option depending on the school and policies. At one school I've worked at, aside from designated "celebrations" that were school-wide, no treats could be given out anywhere aside from the cafeteria. That means the treat has to happen at lunch.

    • @Avocado_Jessiplays
      @Avocado_Jessiplays 5 месяцев назад

      @@desslou very true! But you realize there are different schools! Like some private** schools that are don’t have many policies or some public schools they don’t have many policies, so some students cannot bring loot bags they usually bring some snacks like candy that they could eat in the car or at home for a policy.

    • @Avocado_Jessiplays
      @Avocado_Jessiplays 5 месяцев назад

      @@desslou they might be talking about the school that they work at and not other different schools because some schools can allow treats but I’m just stating that many schools can allow them so I also know that some can’t so please don’t reason that put as she already mentioned it

    I think that the girl needs to just accept the gifts- if ur really that uncomfortable with the Victoria secret bag on your table then either big it in your back pack, under the table or even just take the thing out.
    For the cake it’s not like they are going to have a sugar rush on a tiny slither of cake.
    In my school the just cut very small pieces and we all accepted it just the same way
    Just be grateful you get presents like that as a teacher!
