    2:38 what are the sound differences between the E070 and E080? It would be SUPER helpful if Aprilaire actually had a comparison tool on their site. It's super confusing to be able to tell the exact feature and performance differences among the options, other than the pints per day.

      The E070 is 53 dBA ducted, the E080 is 45 dBA ducted. This information is found on the spec sheets for each dehumidifier available on our website in the Product Information section if you would like to verify and compare other specs. diy.crawlspaceninja.com/

    I just installed an E080 in a return to return configuration controlled by the Google Nest via a relay. The Nest programming was incompatible with return to supply because the Nest would kick on the HVAC fan on AC calls preventing air flow in the dehumidifier if it so happened to be running. No way to select options to stop it. I also have an Aprilaire 700M humidifier and switch between the control relays via a rotary cam switch since the Nest only supports one device at a time. I live in the Chicago Suburbs and we get the worst of dry and humid so I have to run both a humidifier and dehumidifier. The undersized AC trick used around here is an imperfect solution. I am actually surprised that most people along with HVAC people in this area never heard of a whole home dehumidifier when people constantly complain about humidity in their homes. This unit has turned my house around. I might look at an E070 to replace the portable unit in my basement in the future (the basement is a completed basement with no vents).

    All I’ve got is a whole house air exchanger that is ducted to every room in the house . Finished basement and main floor.
    We get condensation buildup on the bottom of glass in the winter time just because of the house being tight. The air exchanger doesn’t really help that much because most of the time even though it’s winter the humidity level outside can still bring humid air inside and the air is cold coming in even this a heat recovery. What’s my best solution?
    When I use a stand alone portable dehumidifier upstairs it works and helps but it’s noisy to use .

      A whole home dehumidifier on the lower level may help. Get one that is rated for your square footage: The E100 does up to 3300 sq feet: diy.crawlspaceninja.com/aprilaire-e100-dehumidifier/

    Great video. Wasn’t sure the difference between 70 and 80. 80 is quieter more energy efficient and more capable. Nice to know.

    Mike, you do a great job with these videos. I just added a stand-alone (non ducted) E100 in to the basement and hope for eventual humidity reductions. Will a stand-alone unit eventually reduce the humidity levels in the house, or is my desire just a dream until I duct into the HVAC system??

      Since my original post, I ducted my e100 and it does a great job. However, third floor is a separate system and I need to add an e80 into the attic to control bedroom/bathroom humidity. I do like the performance!

    I think I'm with ChurchNinja on this. According to the specs, the E080 does blow less CFM than the E070. 185 vs 200 according to the specs that the Aprilaire rep needs to either read, or fix, depending on what's correct.

    💥Hello, I'm finishing a 1250 sq ft basement. The basement will have air conditioning but would I put the dehumidifier on the unfinished side, behind the drywall since the ac will help with the finished side?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  2 года назад +1

      Hi, Billy! Yes, you could that but you could also put the dehumidifier on the unfinished side and duct a small amount of dry air to finished side if your ac can't keep finished side's humidity low enough.

    This dehumidifier was recently installed in the living area of our basement. What is the best way to cover it without diminishing it's efficiency?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  Год назад

      Covering the dehumidifier may affect its efficiency. Most people have potted rubber plants, peace lilies, and ferns indoors to conceal their dehumidifier.

    What's the difference between E080 and E080CS? If they're the same, why label them differently? If they're different, why is that info so difficult to find?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  Год назад

      I agree Aprilaire doesn't give a lot of information. For the most part the E080 and E080CS are similar in size and capacity. The one difference we have found is the E080CS comes with a drain tube but the E080 does not. This is why we offer the E080CS on our DIY store. Also, not verified but the E080 may have casters, we don't offer that one so not sure. Hope that helps. Here is a link to the E080CS if you need one. diy.crawlspaceninja.com/aprilaire-e080-dehumidifier/

    I got an E080 and it is ducted to HVAC.in the attic. My only issue is that Ii takes longer to decrease the RH to my set point. It takes almost 18 hours. For example: If I have a RH of 55% and I wanna reach 50%, it will take all that time. I don't if it normal or no. It was installed by HVAC licenced technician.

    • @CJ-jf9pz

    I have a Honeywell Equipment Interface Module THM5421R and Honeywell TH8321R1001 thermostat. Can the E080 or E070 be controlled from these 2 devices? I will be installing the dehumidifier in the return line of my HVAC system. Also, can the E070 be used inline with the HVAC system installed in an attic?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  2 года назад +1

      Userundefined01 - A short is usually all that is needed to activate DH terminals. DH wires may already have some voltage, but new voltages cannot be introduced. When using an Aprilaire external control, dry contacts would be used to activate the DH terminals. There is no voltage on the terminals of dry contacts. In order to activate the dehumidifier, you need to connect it to your EIM, which provides 24vAC. There is a chance that the 24 volts and the voltage already present on the DH terminals will clash, causing damage to the terminals. Honeywell EIMs may have two terminals for controlling dehumidifiers. In general, two like terminals indicate a relay output or dry contacts, and those are the types of connections that can switch the E130. A compact unit measuring only 12.5 x 12.5 x 25 inches , it can easily be ducted into your HVAC system or used as a standalone in tight crawl spaces or basements. In addition to fitting into attics and other confined spaces, its leveling feet keep it sturdy even in crawl spaces. We appreciate you watching and hope you have a happy & blessed weekend.

    What is the CFM of the E080 and the E070?

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja
      @CrawlSpaceNinja  2 года назад +1

      Hi David, according to Aprilaire's spec sheets for their dehumidifiers, the CFM can vary depending on external static pressure. Please take a look to determine which is accurate for your situation:

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja

      DavidJ - the filter size is 13.5". Designed to be used with the E080 and E100 models of Aprilaire Dehumidifiers, the Aprilaire 5881 Replacement Filter is a foam core and aluminum frame filter. Thanks for watching.

    I have heard Aprilaire requires professional installation or the warranty is invalid. Do you know if this is true or not, and why they would require it since in most cases all that is needed is to level the unit, provide a drain, and plug it in. I apologize if you have already addressed this issue and I missed it.

    • @CrawlSpaceNinja

      Hi Randy, the required professional application applies to repairs in most cases. Aprilaire honors the warranty on units purchased from our DIY Store at diy.crawlspaceninja.com. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact our specialist on there who can answer your questions in more detail.

      @@CrawlSpaceNinja What do you mean by "applies to repairs in most cases"? It would seem that a repair is what people would need if seeking a warranty claim.
      Is there a different warranty when purchased from crawlspace ninja than other stores?

      Correct, you will need to contact Aprilaire regarding warranty claims. The warranty can also become void if you do not properly maintain the dehumidifier as recommended by the manufacturer.
