The questioning of the university presidents has been heavily edited in the university presidents’ favor by NBC here. In watching the vast majority of their testimony, I noted a deplorable lack of leadership, and constant prevarication. They refused to say that declaring intifada and a desire for the slaying of Jews was wrong or even against their code of conduct. Only the MIT president attempted to answer questions sincerely. The others showed an utter lack of leadership character and should have no place leading places of learning.

Surprise surprise
This was just awful reporting of the real substance of these hearings - but who should be surprised by inaccurate or incomplete summarizations coming from NBC News?
Expect the antisemitism at those institutions of supposed higher learning to continue unabated because it has become clear that despicable point of view reflects the true sentiment of a large segment, maybe majority, of the administrators professors, & students there. All 3 of these disgraceful college presidents consistently refused to answer reasonable yes/no questions or reflect honestly on what is really going on at their campuses because they knew if they had done so, they would very soon be facing serious campus protests aimed directly at themselves.
It makes "their side" look horrible, which is why we never get any objective reports about these things.

The issue here is these Presidents knew Stefanik was referring to the phrase “from the river to sea Palestine will be free”. They should have said explicitly calling for the genocide of the Jews violates their code of conduct and then used the context argument to debate her on the phrase…..

There were a number in 2019 and 2021 focused on anti-black hate. Not sure how you missed that. In March of 2021 there was a congressional hearing on anti-Asian hate. Though I do agree focus on Asians is underrepresented politically, I disagree with your suggestion that there’s not enough attention paid to anti-black hate. It has received an extraordinary amount of attention from the media and government the last few years, far more than paid to anti-semitism.
Indeed, the contrast in parallel is what is upsetting so many Americans. If students marched on campuses advocating for the slaughter of people of African descent, we would all rightfully condemn that and they would be expelled. That is what is happening on many university campuses in regards to Jewish people, without consequences. It’s wrong and should not be tolerated.

Share the specifics of the congressional hearings in 2019 and 2021 that *focused* on enacting *serious consequences* for acts of violence or threats *aimed* at the Black community. In the United States, hate crimes against Black people have grown so commonplace that no one seems to care when black people are the targets of racial threats and murders. More widespread than the anti-Asian hate crime you claim is "politically underrepresented," hatred toward Black people not only goes unnoticed but some outright *deny its existence.* People become outraged over hate crimes only when *a few high-profile incidents* enter the news. The attacks by the questioner and many of the comments are completely off the mark. The question was about a metter of fact, i.e., whether current codes of conduct at those institutions are violated by certain statements and whether those statements constitute bullying. The responses were 100% fine. First, they replied by stating what current codes of conduct actually say (rightly or wrongly). I.e., one could have a discussion about whether those codes are right, and one could follow up the question by asking whether the responders personally think that those codes of conduct should be amended; but yelling at those people just for stating a fact is plain stupid. Second, bullying and harassment are technically about personal attacks, so no generic statement that is not addressed to a person is technically bullying, no matter how unacceptable it may be for other reasons. The fact that it's not bullying does not make it OK. Simply, it's not bullying, in the same way that murder by firearm is not technically the same as murder by poisoning (and so, if someone is murdered by poisoning and the question is "was it murder by firearm", the correct answer to the question is "no"). It saddens me to see how low the level of public debate has sunk.
