love the video Shane, what do you think about Business Marketing Informatics
Can you please make videos for accounting graduate?!!?
can you do one for healthcare please
Stop with the embedded ads in videos bro.
If you’re in college don’t expect to just walk into these roles without either A. Going to a target school or B. Getting a very good internship. Something I wish I knew. Everyone has a bachelors these days so that really has no merit
and to get a good internship you need to go to a target school.
How people can go so deep into student loan debt for a job that they cannot just walk into is crazy to me.
If you cannot walk into it, is it really a career?
Actually only 25% of adults in the United States have a bachelor's degree or higher, hardly "everyone".
@@jamesw7072 comparatively to the amount of these jobs available, everyone has a bachelors

I am at the beginning of my "investment journey", planning to put 85K into dividend stocks so that I will be making up to 30% per year in dividend returns. Any advice?
Investing without proper guidance can lead to mistakes and losses. I've learned this from my own experience. If you're new to investing or don't have much time, it's best to get advice from an expert.
The issue is people have the "I want to do it myself mentality" but not equipped enough for a crash, hence get burnt. Ideally, advisors are reps for investing jobs, and at first-hand encounter, my portfolio has yielded over 300% since 2020 just after the pandemic to date.
Glad to have stumbled on this comment, Please who is the consultant that assist you and if you don't mind, how do I get in touch with them?
My CFA NICOLE ANASTASIA PLUMLEE a renowned figure in her line of work. I recommend researching her credentials further... She has many years of experience and is a valuable resource for anyone looking to navigate the financial market..
I just googled her and I'm really impressed with her credentials; I reached out to her since I need all the assistance I can get. I just scheduled a caII.

That one would be S++++ tier for sure 😂

Work for a third party banking call center and I love it man! I don’t care if I make 100k a year as long as I’ve got a roof over my head and a warm bed I’m happy!
Very useful video for a college student going into the job market.
Thanks! Glad you think so.
You read my mind. I was thinking about how cool a video like this would be a few days ago. I majored in finance and I'm currently working as a Finance Intelligence Analyst for a big tech company. Finance is extremely interesting and a lot of passionate people seem to be getting involved in the field. Anyone out there thinking about majoring in finance, do it! It's the best major in terms of understanding the "ins and outs" of businesses.
Hi Rafael, I'm also planning to pursue US CPA, is it a good career path?
Thanks my guy. Wasnt sure if I should study it
I have my bachelors in business management and I’m going back to school for my MS in finance corporate finance.
@@darnellebeckford9631 which school?
Kool,
What is an average realistic salary for the type of work you are doing?
Now I understand why so many people get finance degrees to work in banking. I didn't know you could make salaries this high.
bro.. Finance, Technology, Medicine, Engineering, & Consulting offer the highest paid salaries in the world, on average sub six figures. And they’re ALWAYS in demand.
I hope that is still the case after I graduate because I’m sick and tired doing hard labor job. I’m going back to school for finance

Aside from the accounting related jobs, a lot of these positions are highly competitive and don’t have a lot of job openings. Some of these jobs are only available in major metropolitan centers like nyc and the firms hiring want graduates from top universities
This video has made me confirm that I want to work in finance, I suggest you make a video on how to get some of these jobs if it fits in your interests.
I think this video just did the same for me. What school are you thinking about getting your finance degree from?
Asset Management here!
Really nice video!!
Thanks!
Its hard because the S tier positions pay well but with insane hours. Most people wouldn't mind working hard to become an expert at something if they're compensated fairly. It's the being expected to work long hours even after acquiring the skillset that bothers me. Is there any career that comes to mind? The closest thing I have heard is software development in Fintech.
Why don't you become head of cyber security at Citibank in London? Delegate out the work to your team, use some tracking tools, and put your feet up with a cigar. If it goes wrong blame a lawyer for misguided advice or refer to some ts and cs

Can you do highest paid accounting career’s next?
Those don't exist
The top accounting position is controller which was already covered in this video. Most other jobs in accounting are middle income roles like staff accountant or accounting manager. There’s also low end accounting jobs like accounts payable and accounts receivable which don’t require a degree. That said accounting jobs are much more attainable than high finance jobs like asset management and private equity
Shittt broo finanace is actually so underrated for making mad amounts of money. Never understood why people go into medicine if they want to become rich. Finance is the way! Also will each you how to invest your own money so you'll make way more than your salary
No, everyone has different perspective how and which major will help them to money!!
If u want to make money
Why not coding and computer?

For me finance and accounting is best. It suits me.
The best video I have seen in my life.

Thank you a lot for the video! Really helpful
When I grow up I hope to spend my life groveling over finance, worrying about people screwing me and scheming about how to screw them.
Been waiting for this. Thank you so much Shane!!
80-120 hrs a week of work??? I don't think the week even has that many hours lol, when are you supposed to sleep?
In a 120 hour week which is worse case scenario you would probably be getting 3-4 hours of sleep on a bad day. Which obviously isn't sustainable long term but not every week is like that
He’s capping. No banker works anywhere close to 100 hours a week. 70-80 hours are most realistic. Bankers do work 100+ hours a week, but it rarely happens, probably 10% of a year. And a banker works around 50 weeks a year, so if 10% of those weeks are 100+ hour work weeks, it’s only 5 weeks which isn’t bad.
Nah my eldest bro is in banking sector and I asked him whether it's true, he said people like to over exaggerate to make themselves sound tough and bad ass. He said it's like once a year thing. Like the end of the financial year or have very big project.
Thank you! Been looking forward to this video for awhile now. I’m a sophomore finance MIS double major and I loveeeee your videos! Super helpful. You are part of the reason I added the MIS major

What kind of banking? Where to work? Paid until a million dollars a year? that is unimaginable unless you are holding a very high position...
Looking to move from my beginning teller position at a savings bank to a brokerage. There’s quite a bit of difference in the professionalism between the two, so hopefully this won’t be a problem.
As someone who’s had a career in banking, I would never recommend taking a job as a job as a teller or any bank branch job. No offense to anyone who works in a bank branch but these are dead end jobs.
Id be interested in you evaluating the different subcategories of consulting! There’s so much variety in consulting
I'm looking for a man in finance. Trust fund. 6'5. Blue eyes.
My uni has a finace major w/real estate concentration. I know of real estate brokers and real estate consulting careers. I think those would have been interesting additions to the list.
That is my base education. Believe me that in order to be successful and competitive, you will need to branch out and obtain numerous additional degrees and/or certifications. I ended up spending 12 years in school with 6 of those years also working with multinationals. I can safely say I am now in the top 1% within my specialized field. I left the rat race of the big dogs and opened up my own investment management fund with a major public sector client that accounts for 99% of my fund so far. I transitioned back into all things real estate and I couldn't be happier.
What is your company name ? I would like to learn about it:)
What uni
Covered everything in the most consice manner. Bet a lot of time has gone in research. Awesome Shane, love your videos
Shane, you talk about how accounting is a better degree than finance because accounting can do finance, but finance can’t do accounting. How many of these jobs can you get with an accounting degree? I’m thinking of switching majors from business admin to accountancy. I appreciate all the videos you put out!!!
This is so inaccurate... Please, do not believe this
Accounting is very broad, be careful
You can make the switch from Transaction/ M&A deals and Financial Due Diligence (all of these are accounting) into the finance world
But you can't make the switch if you're in tax because there's less overlap.
@@TDesting its pretty true. I did big 4 audit first and then went to corp finance. The work in finance is wayyyyy easier to do and understand than the concepts of accounting
@@dar7279 You are oversimplifying a lot. What does "I did big 4 audit" mean? What does "work in finance" mean? There are 1,000 different jobs in finance. Market risk analyst? Trader? Portfolio manager? Research analyst? Investment banker?
An accounting degree will focus a lot on learning about financial statements, taxes and business law, while a finance degree will focus a lot on learning about financial markets, derivatives, investing and economics. The two are literally not comparable, and you certainly cannot say that an accounting degree contains all of the elements of a finance degree and more. That is just plain nonsense. The two degrees are barely overlapping to be honest.
If you believe the statement in the OP to be true, then you do not have enough insight into how the two types of degrees/areas differr and I believe chances are that you do not have a master's degree in either.
@@TDesting your talking all this and dont know what big 4 audit is…

I have so much regrets about not taking a finance major in college.
English was my second language (I'm French) and I was lost in my classes not understanding the meaning of the terms. So I decided to get a "management" major because it was easier and I thought that was the best way to become a "manager" 🤦🏽♂️
Year 4 at college I became fluent in English and realized how dumb my choice was.
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Management and struggled af to get a shit job while seeing my friends who majored in finance beginning an international career and making +$90,000/year after 2 years of experience.
I'm now 28. And I'm thinking about getting some financial certifications to change my career path.
dommage
Just get a masters of finance, it takes just 1 year to finish
Maybe you should consider joining the actuarial profession. You don't need a finance degree, you just need to pass actuarial exams.
@@t.s5806 doesn't work like that in france
what do you think would be the highest paying job that someone can get with a computer science degree in the finance industry?
Look into Quantitative Development
Thank u so muchh for thiss 🤗
You're welcome!
I missed this Shane, the informative one about jobs insight not the 1000$ daily-weekly-monthly video spam
Finance is a good industry but is pretty saturated. All the ones on the quantitative side are booming. I think supplementing a general business or finance degree with programming or statistics is a good idea.
I agree. I was thinking Fintech Data Scientist
A relationship manager at Morgan Stanley for top ten percent in performance makes 200k+ and for senior relationship manager they are making 400k-450k if in the top ten percent for both bonuses in a year where the firm did good. Since performance bonuses are based on firm performance. I am pretty new in the role and its pretty much glorified customer service. Obviously for high performers that is freaking good money. I guess that would be under "sales" but you are only doing sales referrals to local FAs. Not closing anyone. So not high pressure sales.
“You could be working 80-120 hours a week with this one…. S TIER” bro how are you rating these 😂
Just what I was looking for
Scum also tends to migrate around and congeal in the cesspool. It never tends to evolve into anything though.
Make a video ranking insurance Career /agents ( life, health, and p&c agent )
Also, real estate agent, cfo
Just skipped to the end. Ranking "Hedge Fund Manager" like it is something you just have to work hard for is totally insane.
No one looking this video will ever become one
And wealth management ?
Equity Researcher here. True, it pays well.
Whats the point of a tier list where everything is either A or S
I’ve researched these careers so much so it was cool seeing a video from you on it. I’m personally trying to get into quant trading and asset management but I’m also interested in Data science.
Have you done a video like this on the tech side? I’m kinda curious to see how Machine Learning Engineers, Cloud Engineers and general SWE’s scale up to these high tier finance careers
Tech destroys finance in salary. All the good finance jobs (like PE and hedgefund) are reserved for j3w$ and their kids.
At most you might get lucky and get a front office job, make 200k after 3 years, while roblox devs are making 250k tc first year lol.
I will be a hedge fund manager someday
that's my goal.
Not sure the FP&A director number is correct. Most directors top out at like 300 base with 100-150k bonus/equity options for a TC of around 400ish.
Great information Shane, have you heard of supply chain finance careers. Thanks for the helpful information 👍
How about HFT (High Frequency Trading) like Optiver, Citadel or Flowtraders?
You need a quantitative background, in terms of pay: Citadel > Optiver > Flowtraders. However, it is worth noting that flowtraders is much lower in salary compared to the other two.
Sorry I’m still not clear on why you forfeited the 6 figure bonus …
i’ve always known i want to work in finance so i want to get a finance degree but my parents say it’s a useless degree and i should do engineering. advice??
First and foremost, do what's best for your life, not your parents. An engineering degree in any field will pay a 6-figure base salary for life. Finance, you have to get the right job, or you could end up being a manager at Walmart
If you get a finance degree but not from the best school is it still possible to get the high end finance jobs?
You never have a guarantee. I think it depends a lot on your CV and your experience.
is there a program, video, or some kind of guide, that’ll help newcomers enter into the financial space?
Wondering the same man but I been learning it for the past 3 years recently started to invest in myself n getting more insight from asset manager without a curriculum/ program I enjoy the trading side of it but equity analyst sound I can see myself do but I have no degree for some sort of school so I need some I can enter with some sort of certificate
Internships are the only entry point unless you got family in these businesses or very deep connections. Also you need to live in a city where these businesses exist.
