I've watched several modular trench videos. They typically fall into a couple categories - quick to make, but too simple to look realistic, or diorama level builds that are too complex to repeat multiple times. I think you've found a sweet spot between those two extremes! Great looking gameboard!
really appreciate you explaining you reasoning and logic for each step of the process! I find that type of content really useful to be able to apply those sills to different things. Looking forward to more videos!
I just wanted to say I love the fact you incorporated some of the design process in your video. This is what helps people truly develop their own skill. I've been to a similiar proces recently building a modular board with canals and wharves and it's nice to see you going trough the same itterations. In the end I opted for just diagonals on fixed offsets from the centre. Keep sharing!
Best build i have seen so far, the finished product not only looks great but would be a blast to play on. Has plenty of space on top for some verticality set pieces to be placed as well, im going to give this a go, thanks for the video!
Unreal build dude! The Biplane addition was a master stroke. If I’m being nitpickie the build just needed barbed wire as it was one of the most effective defensive obstacles for trench warfare. In saying that, this is by far the best modular trench system I’ve seen 🤙🏻 kudos dude!
Thank you, just last night I was sitting making diagrams, drawing and searching for pictures of trenches on the Internet, and here you are with such help, thank you.
this is great, being in east germany i find it hard getting many of the products in some tutorials but im pretty sure i can get these, thank you. cant wait to show my son our next project.
Really great build on the trenches. Thankyou for using that plane from Stationforge, I forgot I even had the file and it’s so perfect for Trench Crusade
Great work, little critique trench floors were almost always wood if not bare mud, because the wooden duck boards were 6 or more inches above the ground to keep the feet of soldiers dry so the stone bits would be bad as the trench would flood
WOW man this is an incredible project!! I’m particularly impressed by the modularity of it as each game played can be different by only rotating a handful of tiles creating a completely new battlefield. You could also expand your gaming experience by building some new sections of ‘No Man’s Land’ to expand the battlefield. Now that’s a video I’d be willing to watch if you want to indulge your humble viewers 😉
The tiny flash of "trigger warning: airbrush" is so funny. You can use two foam cutters, miniature table saw, 5 different sizes of brush, 75$ of caulk and bulk paint and other materials, a 3d printer, and if you then take out a ~100$ airbrush and compressor you have to account for the guy on every hobby video who goes "b-b-b-but I don't have one of thoooooose this 100 hour project is suddenly not applicable to me anymore!!!!"
Amazing build and work, but your lapel mic needs to sit a bit higher. Maybe see if you can hang some acoustic dampening plates on your walls, too. The sound of your voice in the section in front of the camera stands out as lagging behind the rest of your otherwise great video.
This is an awesome build, Also, love that you use the White Styrofoam... because its the only one I can get in my country. Question... its possible to incorporate a Modular "No Man's Land?"
Thanks Jazaki! I used 300 ml caulk, 100-150 ml water, 300-400 gr sand and a bit of tile grout. But you can deviate from this to make it the right thickness for your project. If you let it dry for about 30 minutes before you use it, it is more like a sculpting clay
That is a very good question! These trenches are too wide for vehicles. A landraider would make it and all walkers and skimmers. I am planning to make no man’s land tiles soon to solve this.
@@SupernovaBuildingGuide hello! Great video, looking forward to making it. But a quick question. What do you mean that the trenches are too wide for vehicles? Did you mean too small?
Anyone have any tips where I might locate 12"x12"x1.5" styrofoam sheets cheaply in the US? Is this something I'd find at some kind of supply store I'm missing? My only sources I've located are kind of pricey. Like $30 for five pieces from amazon.
@ I can get all sorts. The challenge is getting it in precut 12”x12” sheets. 🤔. It seems like a precise cut on that will be super important for making sure the tiles align neatly.
everyone making dark brown muddy trenches for the western front, no one doing trenches for the levant where the soil is different (More yellow and red hues). And, you know, it's where New Antioch IS. Minor complaint of the entire trench genre XD.

Great looking gameboard!
I really appreciate this! Thank you Kristopher.
I had thought making something along similar lines, it is a great video showing how it might work, how the scale pans out etc.
The whole build was great but the plane was next level. Well done
This is some next level terrain building. I will absolutely be copying your trench layout method for building my own Trench Crusade terrain!
This is the first actual true modular trench tiles I have ever seen!!!!

Love modular terrain. This build takes it to the next level. Super detailed and thematic 🙌🏻
Praise the algorithm! Had this in my recommended so subscribed and looking forward to future videos! Amazing work

@@andywoods89 Welcome!
This is slick, dude. Great work.
@scannerbarkly when is the erie rangers vid coming
That’s an insane amount of work. Amazing!
Beautifully detailed and crafted 😊
Looks like it’s going to be an awesome board to play on 😊😊
Great build! It would be delightful to play on that table, bravo!

You are right! Thanks for pointing that out. But the stones gives a nice veriety in texture and color. A but more pleasant for the eye 😁
Yup, I'll be building this! Thank you for the inspiration!
Sure thing! Keep me posted on your project

wonderful build, looks also way easier than a lot of other tutorials (despites being quite similar in techniques)
I have zero issues with the sound, also epic build
A realistic, creative and great job, superb trench!
I was planning on doing exactly this for an early war ww2 table! Great video!!
Lots of great techniques here! Shout out to the algorithm for suggesting your channel! Subscribed!
Glad you found me!
A very entertaining video. I love your modular design.
Stunning job man. Well done 👍. Awesome details.
Well done! Most enjoyable journey. Thanks for sharing. Now I must go and copy for my own, Cheers!

@@Ced23Ric Thank you so much for the tips! I am struggling with microphone setup and didn’t find a solution yet.
Great techniques! 🙇
I'd kinda wanna try doing tiles like this, but with a [derelict/battle torn] city, so it can be swapped around to make all manner of areas for a city
This is a great idea!
Nice work
Fantastic work! I’m definitely going to use your template plan!

Really cool build. For me persinally the trenches are a bit to broad and "spacious" but that might just be me.
Great video & build! How thick is the MDF you used?
Thanks! The MDF is 4mm thick.
How tall is the styrofoam?
4 cm
@ thank you
I'm really curious on what black spray paint you used to coat everything. Was it Army Painter's version?
This is an awesome build,
Also, love that you use the White Styrofoam... because its the only one I can get in my country.
Question... its possible to incorporate a Modular "No Man's Land?"
Yes! I think I will makesome for a future video.
@@SupernovaBuildingGuide Great! I'm inspired to create my own trenches
If I could critique one minuscule detail it would be to have black burn marks on the crashed plane it looks too clean other than that this is awesome
You are so right! How have I missed this! 🤯
This board looks awesome, but how long did it take you to make??
Thanks! I didn’t counted the hours, but I think around 10 evenings.
@SupernovaBuildingGuide not as bad as I thought! Thank you for the response

@@SupernovaBuildingGuide big thanks!!
What foam are you using for the wood planks? I can only find EVA foam and it doesn’t hold the brush lines the same way
It’s called XPS foam
Wait a minute, wouldn't the hot glue melt the styrofoam? What black magic is this?
Ive never used styrofoam for terrain. You used 1 ft x 1 ft squares. What was the height? Any suggestion where to get them?
They are 4 cm. I get them from my local hardware store. Check the insulation isle.
Thanks for the reply! Loved your work here!
What is the thickness of the Styrofoam squares? 1.5"? 2.0"?
4cm or 1,6”. I wanted it to be just a bit higher than my infantry models.
How does this terrian acutally play for Warhammer? Can you actually use tanks/vehicles' or are they simply shot of the board?
