Hey Toby, your two Apistogramma Cacatuoides "males" are actually females. The females of most apistogramma species have half-black ventral fins like yours. Males often have long drawn dorsal and anal fins. Keep up the good work :)
Btw - Love the new betta ! Sorry to hear about Chris. I love the dark bettas also. I have a solid black HM PLAKAT named Marty. He's a very cool guy - Lots of personality, very chill, active, good eater, etc. Just an all around great fish. He's right at year old so hopefully he will be around for awhile. Had him since he was 4 mos. He lives in a 5 gal tank all by himself but is thriving & seems to like his solitude.
What kind of substrate are you using in the 40, I see some nice plant growth at the bottom wow, is it dirted, or an active substrate of some sort? Or just sand and root tabs?.. I love checker barbs, I kept them for years.. great choice in fish, gold barbs are also great, it's amazing how big they can get! I've been thinking about doing a small barb tank, with dwarf barbs or albino cherrys, but I have my hands full with juvenile T barbs, but love barbs, I've kept alot of diffrent species throught the years and my fav.'s would have to be black ruby's or red pandas 🐼.. I love fish that turn colors, especially male black ruby's, there great fish to keep and view!p.s- your no filter tank looks great, does it ever have algea blooms?
Dang dude you’re growing up so fast! Love the authentic videos of your tanks :)
Great to see you - I've missed your videos !!!
So good to see you back!

Its been while....but you are back 👍
Really enjoy your update videos. 🤙
Can’t wait to see what creative ideas you have next for your aquariums.
Amazing.
Good to see you again! For the new betta, consider making the background green, especially if you're going for a more planted tank.

Looks great! I especially like the Blackwater tank.
P.S. is that a Boston accent? I'm Australian so I could be wrong.
Have you had any issues with humidity/mold in the fish room? I've been considering ventilation because the evaporation is so bad in mine.
Have you had reef tank before or no if so do you still have it I have 10 gs they are extremely low work lowed
U actually have 2 female apistos
The hell, I just watched your multi video and your voice so much deeper.
