QUESTIONS: First, are you saying that when an SSD is the primary drive Windows is being booted from on a Desktop, you only should have the Data SATA III cable plugged into the SSD, but not the Power SATA III cable plugged into the SSD? If that is the case, why?
Second, why are you saying it is necessary to have the SATA III Power cable plugged into the SSD while using Cloning Software?
Third, are you saying a 3.5" mechanical Hard Drive should use both the Data SATA III cable and the Power SATA III cable when the HDD is the primary drive being booted from? Or is it only necessary to use the Data SATA III cable?
I'm a bit confused after watching this video.

Following are my suggestions for making this video clearer and better for those of us who have never opened a PC or are nervous about cloning Windows 10 on C and not want to brick their PC! 1) spend some more video seconds on showing close ups for power and data connectors for cables as well as SSD/CD drive 2) How to identify different type of connectors, cables, perhaps a simplified diagram of what type of connector and cable goes to what type of connector on SSD and motherboard 3) Provide a link to Amazon or ASIN for Y cables/Power cables/tools etc 4) If SKHynix, Windows 10 or Macrium software will let you do the same with USB to SATA cable in a yet easier way. Thanks.

I ran into an issues with this setup. Granted it could quite possibly be user error. My suggestion though, would be to be sure to have your start up disk. Not quite sure, why this happened. I followed these steps, step by step. I also have the same office computer. But after the cloning process was complete. One I tried restarting my computer. it said "BOOTMGR Is missing". long story short. I didn't have the disk. I had to create one and use it to repair the issue. Other than that my computer is so much faster. It was complete worth the investment.

Have some basic decency. Maybe a disclosure about the video being sponsored? 'Fastest' SSD you have tested, yet it's a SATA SSD and pretty much any modern SATA SSD drive will hit the SATA3 max bandwidth. Maybe try to sell it on the MBTF, not the speed.

QUESTION: My laptop from 2011 is a Dell Latitude e6420. It came with a Kingston 128GB SSD when I got it. This Kingston 128GB SSD takes exactly 17 Seconds to Boot every time. But when I cloned to a 1TB SK Hynix SSD with DRAM, it actually made the Boot times longer. The laptop now takes 20 Seconds to Boot. Why would it take longer with a SSD that is so much larger and includes DRAM?

@@teknerd Heck if you go back to the late 1970s, you could buy 128k "Bubble memory" cards for various systems; Intel made them for the Apple II for example. I know a couple of Amiga users (or rather I knew) who used 5mb Disk-On-Modules back in the late 1980s. Of course the Bubble memory was just non volatile RAM, and the DOMs were only good on systems that didn't do heavy file journalling (write-life wasn't great). But I do go on...

I never thought about tinkering with SSDs until Walmart started selling them around '16 or '17. When I saw them, I was like, "The only people who know enough about these to find usefulness in them aren't going to go looking for them at Walmart." However, when I started looking into console upgrades and portable flash drives, I found a use for them. Most HDDs require enough power for the internal mechanisms to function. However, plug these SSDs into USB enclosures and you have a handy, portable hard drive with the capacity of an HDD but the durability of a flash drive. Eventually, I decided to upgrade the hard drive in my main computer rig containing my OS to SSD. Fortunately, I had a hard drive cloner from when I was upgrading my consoles. Less than 30 minutes later, I pop it back into my computer and boot it. I could, definitely, see a speed increase. But, one thing I found as a side effect was that I was getting video tearing while watching RUclips videos in full screen mode. I have a program I run in the background Process Tamer. It throttles programs that use up too much CPU power so that they don't slow down the system. I had Chrome set to "Force Below Normal" because it could easily eat up all the CPU resources before. Once I configured Process Tamer to ignore Chrome, suddenly I wasn't getting video tearing while watching RUclips videos in full screen. I can't think of any reason why Process Tamer could create an issue like that other than Linus from LTT having a similar issue with his NVMe file server:
    ruclips.net/video/xWjOh0Ph8uM/видео.html
My guess is the SSD was attempting to optimize the CPU usage but was competing with Process Tamer trying to do that itself.

For Linux you don't need any weird tool. Just put the SSD in another system and it works fine, except when you use an Nvidia-card, then you need to put in some extra work but if you go from one system with an Nvidia card to another (or a system with an AMD-card of course) then it is not a problem either.

So I just noticed that my SSD holds my system partition while my hdd has the booting one. I get an error while trying to clone my hdd over to the ssd, must likely due to the system partition existing in the ssd. And I can’t delete it, it’s windows locked.... any recommendations?

This is a great vid...thanks! I'm getting this SSD to put one game on for faster loading/transition times. I want to keep my main harddrive as it is, as the primary. Do your instructions change at all?

Ok, no offense, I love you guys. But man you're a bit behind. Currently it is very cheap to get a NVMe SSD, even 512gb ones are ~$150. If you really want to save money you could get a 128gb one for your OS and a normal SSD for more storage, it's really cheap. Granted, older motherboards won't support NVMe, so it's not great advice for the people you are trying to adress, but that's not really your audience here in the first place.

I'm so frustrated, I have watched videos like this for weeks now and I'm still as lost as I was on day one. I'm never going to have the confidence to do anything. Are there any videos that break it down even more? I feel like this video is for people who already have a complex understanding of how the internals work and I don't know how any of it works, I was lost with every connection and why they were connected etc
