If anyone doesn't know Hunter wanted his ashes to be put into a cannon and shot into the desert. Depp fulfilled his wishes and paid for everything. This shows how much Thompson meant to Johnny and what a beautiful jester for Johnny.

XD so this poor kid’s ears were just getting assaulted by a hellish barrage of two different songs playing at the same time, the engine roaring, and high winds as they drove along, all while Hunter babbled incoherently at him. Lol.
our human principles are what drives us to help eachother, even while being high we don't forget that, hence why he helped the hitchhiker and why we still decide to do good things even while being high, it's amazing how they captured that and why i love this movie so goddamn much

crazy thing is if you read the book, the movie is pretty much word for word by the book. Every memorable phrase in the movie comes directly from the book. fun fact Johnny Depp is also wearing a lot of Hunter's old clothes from that time period in the movie and had stayed with Hunter for months prior to filming, digging through all hunters old recordings, writings and other stuff from the era. When Hunter died Johnny paid 3 million dollars to have Hunters ashes shot out of a giant 150 ft tall gonzo fist which was exactly how Hunter wanted his funeral to be. nobody couldve embodied Hunter better. Bill Murray tried first in Where the Buffalo Roam, but Bill is Bill, physically he's not much like Hunter and character wise he is always himself. Johnny had the look and truly became Hunter for the role. I know Johnny is in the movie but I can only see Hunter s Thompson when watching it.
Suddenly, there was a terrible roar all around us. And the sky was full of what looked like huge bats. All swooping and screeching and diving around the car, and a voice was and a voice was screaming, "Holy Jesus, what are these goddamn animals!?"
The small detail when he opens the trunk and you can't tell whether it's smoke, or him floating through the sky at first is really well done. Sums up being shitblasted

I think one of the funniest rejections of this movie I've ever heard is a friend said the movie made her "uncomfortable". I said it's supposed to. If you walk away from it thinking the movie is an endorsement of their behavior, you've missed the point. The opening quote gives it away, they've made beasts of themselves.
Benecio del Toro was excellent in the movie Traffic, however I still lose it every time when he gets to, "One toke over the line sweet Jesus, one toke over the liiiiiine..." in this movie. (Pouring beer on his chest to facilitate the tanning process)

I became extremely anxious and paranoid just like he did. It also explains why acid was utilized on MK-ULTRA captives and also during spy interrogations.
