I purchased both the 65” & 85” 900H models together about a month ago and couldn’t be happier. I’ve put them through the paces and they’ve been remarkable in every aspect.
Congrats on the purchase. That's pretty cool about it being so good out of the box. All manufacturers should take note. I commend you for your loyalty to Vizio, but if they're behind the ball, well, a move to Sony isn't a bad one!
I see nothing funny! His TV is absolutely beautiful and huge. Stop hating he has 3k plus to spend on that beautiful 900h TV. I own a 65 inch 900h and it's amazing as well. LOVE MY TV! He has a beautiful masterpiece there so stop being a hater!
My brother i feel the same exact way about vizio!!! You took the words right out of my mouth. I had $3000 to burn and was excited and waiting in vizios new releases. I called them, emailed them and all they say is coming soon blah blah blah. I waited three months and still nothing. So early June I decided to buy an Lg c9 77 inch, cost a lot more than 3grand,but im happy with it. And then right after I buy the tv.... vizio announces "june 30th" . I said oh well they have lost a customer in me anyway.
Awesome video thank you I'm actually thinking about getting this exact model soon as it goes on sale. I will be coming from a Vizio V series so it's going to be a huge upgrade. Thanks
I was watching your video and had to laugh because I had the same path... I had the 2018 Vizio p 75" and loved it. Was anticipating the 85" P quantum but, like as you, kept getting no information and gave up since i did not want to keep waiting indefinitely. I went with the X950h because I wanted to extra wide viewing (do not use it for gaming so hdmi 2.1 was not necessary) . Super happy with calibration out of the box; picture and viewing angles are incredible. Surprising how they move from 75->85" makes such a viewing experience difference!
I always trusted your cigar reviews and stumbled across this today and pulled the trigger on a 75 inch 900h. I got a good deal on a early black Friday sale at best buy
Even if I cut a hole in the back wall and mounted it in the next room, I could only do a 100" screen and it would still be up high. It wasn't worth it to me. I wanted to take out the fireplace and do a 135"
I nearly pulled the trigger on that Vizio last year, and now I'm happy that I waited. I ended up with the 75 inch x900H and man am I loving it. It really does a good job at everything I've thrown at it so far. It's bright, it's dark, it's colorful, and accurate all at the same time. Sure it only has 32 zones but I'm no longer a fan of how many zones a set has when you can't notice them in the first place. You're making me wish I'd gone with the 85. :p
I am awaiting delivery of this TV. Although I truly appreciate all of the information and visuals I do wish you would sometimes mount your phone on a tripod so you can do a 2 hands demonstration. I am constantly frustrated by the number of vloggers who try to do the whole project while hand holding their camera and working with one hand.
Yesterday 8/9/2021, my wife and I went to Costco to do some shopping. As usual I had to stop in the TV section to see what's new. Boy, I'm glad I did. They had 3 Sony 85" x90ch tv's on sale for $1799. Of course I called a Costco employee over and asked if the price is correct. He said the price is correct. He helped me load it on a loader, went and checked out, and he helped me load it in my truck. With a $1799 price, and a Sony 5 year warranty, I couldn't pass it up. I went back in and bought a Sanus SLF 226-B1 wall mount for the TV. Regular price for the wall mount was $139. It was on sale for $99. I found my wife in the store, and told her what I just did. She looked at the store model, and said great TV, great price. So now it's in my living room, still in the box looking at me. Once my son comes over, we'll take it out of the box, and hang it. Wish me luck.
I just bought the X900h 85" today. Get it delivered in a couple days. It looked impressive to me in my local store. I did compare to some others like Samsung Q80T/Q90T. It wasn't as bright as those, but still impressive.
How come almost every time I see a TV in an american youtube video it's pretty much ceiling mounted, instead of the the way way way more comfortable sitting eye level?
I notice the same. A fireplace like that essentially takes out two walls because you can't mount it on the wall across from the fireplace either otherwise your seating would be backed up against it. Figure the third wall then has windows and your mounting options are pretty low Even when there's no fireplace, though, there seems to be an urge to place it too high or buy a stand that's too high.
Great videos. I just ordered my 85XH90 and then found your videos which are very helpful especially because it’s the 85 while reviews usually done with much smaller screen. Because I have a very similar installation in a niche like you did, I wanted to ask how much space is left below the lower brackets to TV׳s bottom ?

@coguyStuff, I'm actually getting rid of my Vizio p series 75-in out of necessity because watching it the other day it decided to pop and the screen went out. I've had it for less than 4 years. I'm purchasing the same television that you just got! looking forward to it even though I did not think I'd have to spend this kind of money in less than 4 years. I'm just curious why you are upgrading. Are you upgrading because yours broke as well? Thanks!
Very good video. What was the distance between the bottom edge of the TV and the bottom holes? I am upgrading from a 65" to the 85" and I need to know if I need to move the mount to keep it centered on the old TV's location. Thanks.
Nice TV and speakers. I just hope you have a dedicated HT room where you can lower that TV with at least the lower end of the TV eye leveled. That fireplace is a big no no up front. Still nice vid man.
That totally depends on how far away you sit. I’m only 9’ and it’s great. I would love a sweet 150 if I had the room, but the biggest I could put in because of depth is only 100. Not worth it.
I’ve actually gone back and forth between this at 85in or an OLED at 65in as they are the same price. The reflections is what has been keeping me from getting this. From the looks of your video, seems like the reflections are a bit much. Also, I have a similar setup. A large center channel and fireplace that I bit the bullet on and got a small TV and mounted the center channel on top but tilted it down just a bit so the sound wave hits.
Congrats! I need some help. I want to buy new tv tomorrow. My biggest tv I ever had is 66 Sony I think model ends 900e. I am debating between a 65 master oled (would be my first oled) or 75 or 85 900h or 950h..... do I go with my first oled or do I skip oled and go for size with these models!? What do you recommend
I was in the same boat when I got the 75. I didn't want mediocre picture quality just for size. The big ones are now in the very good quality stage. It's no OLED, but no longer 2nd rate to the smaller models. I have no hesitation recommending these in any size. If you need a wide view angle like seats to the side though, don't get the 900H it's specifically NOT for that, that's what the 950 is for.
So your 75 was oled and you then went to Sony 900h? It's killing me as I always regret and with kids now my wife no longer allows upgrade every couple years lol (understandable)... I also get pretty good pricing wholesale so for instance I can get a master oled 2400 and the new Sony 65 oled like 2175... so I am between those 2 debating is it worth the 225 for Master being older.. then hop to 75 series non oled the price is like 1800-2200 for 900 to 950. Wife won't allow 2 lol. You have had oled and bigger non oled... should I go big for this tv and no oled like either 75 or 85 or try oled
Sorry also I don't need wide angle If I opt to go non oled.. with that said is it a no brained to go 900 over 950 considering my cost is 400 difference between models
No, the 75 was just a very good LCD also. Back then OLED was 55, not an option. Go look in person, you can't guess just from specs if OLED is that big of a difference for you.
Purchased the same TV, what is the length between the bottom of the TV and lower VESA holes? I can't find that anywhere and I'd like to install the mount before the TV comes. Also my studs are 9" apart so I'll need to use ply as well. (8 lags, 4 in ply, 4 in ply + 9" apart studs). Let me know your recommendations if you have a second! Nice setup!
Mounted mine yesterday but didn’t realize what those spacers were for....the brackets screwed on tightly without them.. do you think I should take the TV down and install the spacers or do you think it would be ok to leave it like it is..thanks
Good video buddy, I got the 65 inch. Do you know when the update is going to drop¿Floating implies that it is not nailed/screwed/stapled/bolted. Floating floor is not nailed to anything
Thanks for the tip, I'm expecting my X900H on Sept. 4 and Geek squad will install it over my fireplace using my Mantelmount. I expect them to install that horizontal bar too because the studs are off center.
@@COGuyStuff thanks. A guy from Best buy checked on my first place but he didn't use any stud finder, he just said that it can be done. So, I guess I'll wait for them first on Sept. 4, and see what they will do.
Thank you! I think I may be pulling the trigger on it. Have you noticed any dead pixels on your screen? That’s the last thing I want to do is returns a tv that huge.
Wow...very nice. I have the 75" Sony X900F and thought it was already big enough in my living room. If I end up with a 85", even my entertainment center will be too small and I'm nervous about mounting any TV this size on the wall. I did buy a 5-year Costco warranty (2/2019 - 2/2024) covered by Square trade for $113 ($99 plus 5% surcharge for not being a Costco member) but that beats what Squatrade wanted ($380) through their own website. We'll see how long this TV will hold up.
2.59 m is a recommended distance of 85" TV for watching movies (fills up ~40 degrees of your field of vision) www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship
Question... these newer TVs have this setting that IMHO gives movies and all a soap opera look. Just a different look. I always turn that off. Maybe it’s called motion plus on some TVs. Do you use that or so called turn that option off. I can’t explain it totally. Just sometimes if that setting is on... it has like a video tape look aspect ...
how many zones does the 85" have? I can't find that information out yet. I know the 75" has 32 but I would think the 85" would have more. Have you been able to check?
@@COGuyStuff thanks for your response. Looking forward to an updated review in the near future if you're planning on doing one. About to upgrade my Panasonic plasma to this 85" which seems to be a good price on AFEES right now.
LOL that's not proof. That is exactly what I said. Eyeballing from the front. Speculating. Proof, is Sony publishing a spec. I agree it's PROBABLY32, and certainly LOOKS like 32...but it might not be. That test might be making it process in a certain way and the number might be different. The point is - no one buy Sony knows. And that means it's speculation.
32 zones is laughable for anything over 42 inches. Sony has a good algorithm but this tv still suffers from blooming and haloing around bright objects like subtitles. The black bars aren’t inky black either which can be distracting. If picture quality is your main concern why not get an OLED? Great video though. I enjoy your content but this display ain’t it.
Don’t be over impressed by Costco’s additional manufacturers warranty on TV’S. I learned the hard way it does not cover weather events. So if a lightning strike takes out the TV, you’re on your own. States right in the actual contract that no one ever reads that weather events are excluded. Three years of only manufacture defects is kind of useless since it won’t take that long to discover factory defects.
I would never assume it would, cover those things, that's not what a warranty is for. You are confusing it with insurance. That's what your homeowners or renters is for.
Hey I thinking about getting this tv but the legs are to wide for my dresser in my room, does the back have 4 screws to mount a pedestal stand, i found a stand I think would work but I thought I'd ask before I make a purchase
Good afternoon ! You could make a review of the 85th diagonal from the store. If, of course, this is primarily interesting to you! There is no possibility itself, unfortunately, they do not sell it, 85 sizes, only on order! And there are no reviews on RUclips at 85 diagonal
I went to best buy to buy a 55" Class - X750H Series for 599$ but they didnt have it so i ended up buying this tv for 969$ way out of my budget but i don't regent it.

Slim Android down and check out the screen saver. Usually with all Android TV devices there is a problem with the wake n sleep feature. Disable any apps u don't use, u have to slim down the system basically. For screen saver go to never. That should help

Just got my x900h 75 inch last Saturday great tv!!! Nice 85 inch you smoking some good cigars haven’t seen anything new from you in a few......
Uh, posted nearly every day as usual
How is the blooming? What panel type is the tv using? VA or IPS
Very good video. What was the distance between the bottom edge of the TV and the bottom holes? I am upgrading from a 65" to the 85" and I need to know if I need to move the mount to keep it centered on the old TV's location. Thanks.
Just a few inches
Hi thank you for the video. Can you tell me the length between the stand?
WOW 👑 SONY GOD FOREVER#1 ✌️ 👑
I'm waiting for my 85 tv to arrive, do you know the height from the bottom of the TV to the first row mounting holes?
Enjoy your Sony
Great 👍 cheers for Canada 🇨🇦
What kind of TV mount did you use what’s the brand
Nice TV and speakers. I just hope you have a dedicated HT room where you can lower that TV with at least the lower end of the TV eye leveled. That fireplace is a big no no up front. Still nice vid man.
Lol well you can tell who comments without watching
Bravo on the tape peeling segment. lol, i just set up my 75" and I'm sure I missed some tape. There are miles of it , it seems....
Is this tv big enough to look like a movie theater or would you recommend a projector for a theater room?
With a little tilt down I have no reflections. I don’t have any lights in line with it.
I also get pretty good pricing wholesale so for instance I can get a master oled 2400 and the new Sony 65 oled like 2175... so I am between those 2 debating is it worth the 225 for
Master being older.. then hop to 75 series non oled the price is like 1800-2200 for 900 to 950. Wife won't allow 2 lol. You have had oled and bigger non oled... should I go big for this tv and no oled like either 75 or 85 or try oled
Sorry also
I don't need wide angle
If I opt to go non oled.. with that said is it a no brained to go 900 over 950 considering my cost is 400 difference between models
Nice setup!
I’m not moving it to measure, but it’s something like 7” or so
Mounted mine yesterday but didn’t realize what those spacers were for....the brackets screwed on tightly without them.. do you think I should take the TV down and install the spacers or do you think it would be ok to leave it like it is..thanks
Of course I would put them on
What is your thoughts on oled? And why didn't you get it?
Superb tv, I like it! :)
The TV looks awesome!
I'm thinking of upgrading from my 75 X900f.
Would you recommend the upgrade? :)
Good video buddy, I got the 65 inch. Do you know when the update is going to drop¿Floating implies that it is not nailed/screwed/stapled/bolted. Floating floor is not nailed to anything
No one will know until it does. Correct about floating. What about it?
Do you see a little horizontal light on grey color on the bottom ? Is that normal?
Thanks for the tip, I'm expecting my X900H on Sept. 4 and Geek squad will install it over my fireplace using my Mantelmount. I expect them to install that horizontal bar too because the studs are off center.
I don’t think they do any custom work. Be sure before they get there what they will do
@@COGuyStuff thanks. A guy from Best buy checked on my first place but he didn't use any stud finder, he just said that it can be done. So, I guess I'll wait for them first on Sept. 4, and see what they will do.
Gino J please come back tomorrow and shared your experience!!
@@GCharlesE well bad news, Geek Squad couldn't find a stud on my firewall, so this is a no go for us
@@ginoj7553 I also don't have studs. All lath & plaster. Went with the wall anchors and lag bolts. Worked like a charm!
Hi,this tv has Picture in Picture function? Two source displaying... Thanks for the help
no
can you share the link to the mount please ?
Great vid! I'm in the same boat and am thinking about going from a 75" to a 85X900H. Was it really that big of a difference?
Yes it was!
Thank you! I think I may be pulling the trigger on it. Have you noticed any dead pixels on your screen? That’s the last thing I want to do is returns a tv that huge.
Got the 85" and it was SO worth it! No regrets and a great deal from Costco.
Hey how wide are the stand? I mean whats the length of it so I can figure out the maximum suitable table depth it can set on
Sorry no idea, I don't use them
How many feet away are you from where you sit to the TV please. I'm gettin one myself and I've got 12 feet. Space from TV to where il b sitting.
10
Wow...very nice. I have the 75" Sony X900F and thought it was already big enough in my living room. If I end up with a 85", even my entertainment center will be too small and I'm nervous about mounting any TV this size on the wall. I did buy a 5-year Costco warranty (2/2019 - 2/2024) covered by Square trade for $113 ($99 plus 5% surcharge for not being a Costco member) but that beats what Squatrade wanted ($380) through their own website. We'll see how long this TV will hold up.
It does take a very beefy mount!
Great tv but audio drop problem earc/passthrough...i’ve the 75
HEY' CO GUY STUFF? DOES THE SONY X900H HAVE ANY BANDING ISSUES?
Not mine
@@COGuyStuff DOES YOUR SONY TURN ON AND OFF? AM THINKING OF GETTING THIS THIS OR THE SAMSUNG Q8OT WHICH ONE IS BETTER?
If it did I would have mentioned it. Watch my vids I did for the set, I cover everything.
does anyone know what video is playing on the tv during the intro????
Wonderful video! I was considering 85" and setting 2.5 meters (around 8 ft) away! I hope it's not an overkill.
Not at all!
@@COGuyStuff Thanks! Gonna be seriously immersive with PS5!
I just played pinball - Bigger than real life lol
@@COGuyStuff That's what I call a "generational leap" into next gen gaming.😜
2.59 m is a recommended distance of 85" TV for watching movies (fills up ~40 degrees of your field of vision)
www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-relationship
Question... these newer TVs have this setting that IMHO gives movies and all a soap opera look. Just a different look. I always turn that off. Maybe it’s called motion plus on some TVs. Do you use that or so called turn that option off. I can’t explain it totally. Just sometimes if that setting is on... it has like a video tape look aspect ...
There are many names for it and many degrees of it. I turn it all off.
how many zones does the 85" have? I can't find that information out yet. I know the 75" has 32 but I would think the 85" would have more. Have you been able to check?
Sony doesn’t specify zones for their TVs. Everyone has to speculate.
@@COGuyStuff thanks for your response. Looking forward to an updated review in the near future if you're planning on doing one. About to upgrade my Panasonic plasma to this 85" which seems to be a good price on AFEES right now.
You don’t know that. They don’t say. People have been eyeballing and speculating as low as 16.
Can you share the settings?
Don’t be over impressed by Costco’s additional manufacturers warranty on TV’S. I learned the hard way it does not cover weather events. So if a lightning strike takes out the TV, you’re on your own. States right in the actual contract that no one ever reads that weather events are excluded. Three years of only manufacture defects is kind of useless since it won’t take that long to discover factory defects.
I would never assume it would, cover those things, that's not what a warranty is for. You are confusing it with insurance. That's what your homeowners or renters is for.
did they update the calibration software?
Hey I thinking about getting this tv but the legs are to wide for my dresser in my room, does the back have 4 screws to mount a pedestal stand, i found a stand I think would work but I thought I'd ask before I make a purchase
It has a vesa mount and Sony sells a stand
@@COGuyStuff ok I bought a pedestal stand and I wasn't sure if it came with one or not
Good afternoon ! You could make a review of the 85th diagonal from the store. If, of course, this is primarily interesting to you! There is no possibility itself, unfortunately, they do not sell it, 85 sizes, only on order! And there are no reviews on RUclips at 85 diagonal
Great review 👏 and great set up you have, whats the sony like watching movies in the dark any blooming? Guardian of the galaxy looked great.
Mines perfect. Watch the next video on settings
I'm thinking of getting the same television Upgrading it from the 75" Samsung So your happy without television
I'm in retail in Australia and we hardly have any stock of anything....
I personally ordered a 86 inch LG in May and I'll get it just after Xmas
One of the sony pled has spots for wires to use the tv as center channel
FYI
That would be epically horrible if that’s the case.
@@COGuyStuff not as bad as that fugly mount for the center channel
Lol don’t be so jealous :)
I went to best buy to buy a 55" Class - X750H Series for 599$ but they didnt have it so i ended up buying this tv for 969$ way out of my budget but i don't regent it.
Looks great
Is this TV the same at the X900H?
I got mine 55' yesterday and since then it rebooted 2 times by itself. Any ideas what should I do? I really like the picture quality and I don't want to give it back to the store.
Slim Android down and check out the screen saver. Usually with all Android TV devices there is a problem with the wake n sleep feature. Disable any apps u don't use, u have to slim down the system basically. For screen saver go to never. That should help
I Kno I sound like a tool but please listen to what I'm telling u cause it will help
What’s the difference between the 900h and 900f what makes this tv better other than the chip and HDMI 2.1?
The processor and black levels are a big difference. tvdifference.com/sony-x900h-vs-x900f/
Great stools, do you have a link?
They are awesome, part of the more commercial Ikea products. The large size: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/henriksdal-bar-stool-with-backrest-frame-dark-brown-70426132/
Great video does cable work on this TV ?
Of course
could you post the link for the TV wall mount? Thanks!
