The thing with Hancock is that, because of what she experienced, she believes that weakness is what ended up with her becoming a slave. She was vulnerable, and she and her sisters went through something horrific because of that vulnerability. So she has to constantly project this image of total power at all times. If she showed sympathy for even small animals, that it's a sign of weakness that can be exploited. It's over-the-top, and the fact that the animals she kicks aren't even seriously hurt goes to show it's more of a gag than something that's meant to seriously demonize her. You compare her animal kicks to the knee Dio gave to a dog which seriously injured it, and the vibes are completely different.
Yeah the animals got kicked away but not hurt, the animals even seems totally fine as they get angry, not even a bump. I know Boas kicks are strong so those were probably not even kicks for her but a shove at them to the side
I do see a lot of truth in that, but also it was the part of the act she had to put on. She had to seem calm and not but an ice queen to try and escape any notion that she was once a slave. She wouldn't show weakness or mercy, but I tend to believe it was a means to and end.
Branding the Sun Pirates symbol over everyone, including non-slaves, so that the people who were slaves were no longer able to be identified was one of the coolest and most touching details for me when I first watched One Piece. I remember being blown away by this
She's a traumatized woman, who was abducted, branded and abused when she was 12. She vowed that she wouldn't let anyone make a victim out of her and her sisters, so she created that act where she's a dominant one and everybody just lusts for her. Luffy was the opposite, he doesn't lust for Boa, he's kind, he doesn't look down on her because she was a slave and he punch a Celestial Dragon. Luffy embodies everything that opposes her views on people, specially men. That's why she's enfatuated by Luffy. It's like kuja's women relation with Boa.
People who are abused sometimes try to overcome it by not showing any weaknesses. Attachment to anything (love, care, empathy, compassion) is seen as a sign of weakness by them.
My headcanon is these are placed there for just the act. They're trained to be as tough as the rest of the critters on the island and are well pampered and cared for off screen. :D
Yeah if she kicked them for real, they would just explode😂 It’s all an act and I don’t think she even really hurts them that much, they seem more angry at her then hurt.
7:49 fun little detail... this is something vivi taught luffy all the way back in drum island arc. for a while luffy has been saying "i wish sanji was here", "i wish franky was here", etc since he genuinely relies on his crew. even now, vivi is still part of the crew in this gesture😭
That scene also shows his character development and how he held onto the teachings from Vivi, the same way Vivi holds onto the teachings from Luffy 🙌🏻. They both learnt something from each other to become better leaders
The darkest part about their backstory is that you don't get to know the whole details of what happened to them as a slave... and they were only kids (the oldest (Boa) was only 12) They used her beauty against her and hurt her and now she's taking advantage of her beauty and using it as her power against others
While they never explicitly state it, there are implications of SA in Boa and her sister's back story which really casts a different light on her when you realize it. Most characters we see that are captives of the celstial dragons are treated as disposable labor that don't live to see freedom. Given that Boa and her sisters were force-fed DF's for the celestial dragons "entertainment" coupled with how unusually long they survived, it leads to a very disturbing conclusion. Boa's coldness is a trauma response.
reminder that even though Boa is physically beautiful, beauty is measured based on strength on Amazon Lily, so when Boa is saying she's the most beautiful she's actually saying that she's the strongest one lmao, and her people respect her not because of her pretty face but because of her strength
Luffy is the first person to treat Hancock like a person and not someone to be adored or, to put it bluntly, something to _do_. She's almost old enough to be his mother, but again, if this is something she's never had the opportunity to experience when most people would experience it, she's not necessarily going to know how to deal with it. She still has a persona to maintain, it's not going to change overnight, and in her position she has to be a little ruthless. Kicking cute baby animals isn't necessary, but she does have to be a bit ruthless.
That's the thing, Hancock has only known Luffy for like a few hours. Expecting her to completely change her personality over less than a day just isn't going to happen.
I think when grandma said Luffy was lucky, she was referring to the fact that he could get Boa to do anything, including gettin him in time to save his brother. But I get what you were thinking hahaha 😂
25:35 LMAO. Everything with Boa is so over the top, I can't help but be amused by it. 24:40 I think you nailed it. The first guy she's met that sees her as just a person (immune to her power). I always figured she and her sisters never had their childhood since they were taken, so this is kind of her first 'crush', with predictably blown out of proportions emotions? :D
Probably one of my favorite arcs for Luffys character, despite everything else we have seen so far. Also there is something about him seeing a naked woman presenting herself to him and just reacting "that isn't food..".
Luffy acting like a full on cartoon character, coughing up the poison gas before blowing it all away, was wild. I swear ever since the Live Action series came out all the goofy rubber stuff has been completely recontextualized for me. I also love how he got mad that no one at the banquet seemed to be having fun, and he made it his mission to make sure everyone had smiles on their faces by the end of it.
I’ve tried watching other reactors watch this show but no one compares to your vibe! Thanks for the content always and hope your week is treating you well. 😄 try to enjoy this island because like someone else mentioned.. it’s the calm before the storm. but don’t fear, there will be a rainbow 🌈☀️
Boa suffered many things early in life. Because of this, she developed a heart of ice. She was never allowed to be herself. Also in leading a country, she is expected to be strong. (She takes this too far) In one conversation, (with the help of Granny) Luffy is able melt her frozen heart, and encourages her to open up. Everyone has some sort of emotional baggage. Letting it weigh you down by not dealing with it in a healthy manner will destroy a person. Luffys charisma is the key to her frozen heart. She doesn’t have to pretend anymore. She doesn’t have to be “cursed.” Finally she can treat herself like a person.
boa best girl. best girl!! she does not understand love, trust and people because of literally being traumatized from birth, branded and we dont even know how long and what was done to them. they are kids and beautiful too
Luffy was real, mean and understanding with her, he treated her like a person compared to everyone else in her life that treated her like an object, a slave, then a sex doll and a monolith that cant do wrong, all facades she kept to survive.
just wanna comment. ive been waiting and going through so meny one piece reviewer trying to find someone i relate too 100%. you and this channel is my fave and the one i will carry to end with. thanks for sharing and making content. love everything about this ride and thanks so much and here is hope we make it all the way. i will be here for every video, for sure.
Have to say, Oda is really a master at creating characters that you want to hate at first, but either through developpment or a change of perspective, and you can easily flip your view of said character. Hancock is a great example of that. I don't fully condone her pretty atrocious behavior towards a lot of people, but you can understand why she does this, and because of her trauma, I can let it slide to a certain extent. She really went from a character I disliked to a character I now appreciate a lot
Keep in mind, the Celestial Dragons aren't just men. There's women too. Like the woman who pointed a gun at Camie. Boa Hancock is trying to avoid showing vulnerability to *anyone*, not just men.
Lmaooo your reaction to Boa’s love sickness is hilarious! You a real one for standing your ground. I forgave her for kicking puppies long ago…and yes it’s bc she’s beautiful! 😍
So now you've met the one person who could possibly out-simp Sanji. Speaking of Sanji, I don't believe we could ever have him visit this island. He'd never survive.

i think why boa likes luffy a lot is because she can trust luffy and she can let her guard down around him. luffy is probably the only person other than her 2 sisters she can show any type of vulnerability around in more than 11 years.
I understand not liking Boa Hancock at first because many feel that same sentiment. And by no means am I excusing her horrible traits. But youve seen first hand how awful the Celestial Dragons are. It would be natural for someone like Boa to put up this front of horrible toxicity. The Celestial Dragons take without any sympathy. They kill with no remorse. They torture for pleasure. I find it funny that male reactors mostly never understand boas "sickness" before its revealed, and most women reactors usually understand it seconds into seeing her xD
I mean, Boa might be a bit of a bitch but it’s all a gag. The women on the island are shown to be happy and thriving. The whole reason for her taking the warlord position was to protect the island.
i mean it's not like people instantly forgetting whom Hachi or Bon Clay , or Duvall and a few others were , was any different . The biggest difference with Boa , is that she was part of a cruelty based set of jokes
11:49 I think she's also mean to her own people because she doesn't want people to see her as a victim - it hurts too much too look back that she doesn't want anyone to know about it, she doesn't want people to feel pity or sympathy for her because she doesn't want to think about what happened to her and she sees it all as being weak and powerless and doesn't want anyone else to make her feel that way even if it's meant with kindness because she associates it all with others looking down on her.
13:30 Forcing them to eat fruits like love love and snake just shows what level of perverts they were, I really feel bad for her she blames herself being "Off guard" and going through SA and is paranoid that her people will suffer the same by men so she acts all strict and rude, also falling for the 1st man who showed her genuine kindness and not let her get away with "Coz i am Beautiful" is also sad (Also lot is a weird comedy gig by Oda) the sisters PTSD was so evident in that scene
I love the "romance" betwen hancock and luffy, not because it's a good one, Boa don't deserve luffy, and also he doesn't care about that stuff. However is extremily funny to see the snake queen act like a highschooler in love, for this rando guy.
Basic Haki Armament Haki Observation Haki (also known as Mantra by skypians) Conquerors Haki The first 2 can be learned by training, conquerors Haki can’t be learned you have to be born with it! And all three forms of Haki can be mastered! Once mastered unlocks, Advanced versions of Haki.
26:21 Hancock really thought she had to put out a facade, but Luffy actually already changed her. That scene she actually said to her people, don't do it again (or something similar I don't remember) instead of cold silence.
When i first saw her my first impression on her was that she was a Spoiled, Insecure, little brat that's never been said no to because of her fruit but what made me take it all back was they're backstory.
She likes Luffy cause he doesn't see her by her beauty but by who she is and how she acts While even most of people of her island like and respect her because of her beauty It's even sadder that most of the fanbase also like her because of how she looks not because of her character development
Not done watching yet but Queen you seem harsh on Boa. She is no saint but her actions make sense with her backstory. You seemed disinterested throughout. Idk, different perspectives. She was a child when all of that went down. She isn't right for what she does but she is learning to heal. We all can work on ourselves. Love the reactions! Hope you are good :)
It might because she is not introduced to be on luffy's side right away. A lot of people find it easier to ignore that Luffy is a man, on a "no Men" island, and that he accidentally broke one rule that not even the women there were supposed to break, and all that stuff Boa have been thru, than recognizing Luffy was stranger danger for them and Boa is too heavily traumatized to just be cool with all that.
So why she is like that? People with trauma leen to develop some type of defence mechanism, these things don't just go, they change the person forever, some times more stressed or aggressive Basically she is like that so people see her as a strong ruthless women It's not a facade she is like that because of her experience
"When are they going to show the rest of the crew" Me holding back my tears for knowing what is going to happen to Sanji 😰😭 Why is the world so cruel! Poor Sanji!
You probably won't even see this but just wanted to apologize for saying your reactions were bad on one of the early One Piece videos. Your reactions are amazing!
Your feelings on Boa Hancock is pretty much I I feel about her. Though kicking the small adorable animals is a gag I like to establish that she is utterly cruel. But there is one moment during one arc that made me at least respect her coming up. But yeah, I feel you on this one. "Hurt people hurt people..."
28:12 I still say that if he had, he'd have his hands on her for perhaps five seconds before dropping to his knees begging 'please'. I think he knows that to.
The thing with Hancock is that, because of what she experienced, she believes that weakness is what ended up with her becoming a slave. She was vulnerable, and she and her sisters went through something horrific because of that vulnerability. So she has to constantly project this image of total power at all times. ooh, thank you for this analysis!
Yeah the animals got kicked away but not hurt, the animals even seems totally fine as they get angry, not even a bump. I know Boas kicks are strong so those were probably not even kicks for her but a shove at them to the side
Knowing her fighting style Supporting this comment 100 %
She's faking it
She's got an annoying personality and her forehead is huge.
I do see a lot of truth in that, but also it was the part of the act she had to put on. She had to seem calm and not but an ice queen to try and escape any notion that she was once a slave. She wouldn't show weakness or mercy, but I tend to believe it was a means to and end.

Ok i have to just add. There is a RUclipsr called MelonTree who did a video called the beauty of boa, which goes into a dee dive of boa specificaly. I highly highly recommend.
Now the next one is more "optional" but there is another guy whos mom is reading one piece. All good, hoping the same for you!
You can't really blame Hancock for hating men or at least distressing men on sight given her first experience with men.
On Amazon Lily Strenght is everything
if she showed even a bit of bit of weakness she runs the risk of being exiled
Thats why she puts up facade
While she is Strong enough to command all of them the trauma from her childhood still keeps those thoughts in her head that she needs to be stronger than anyone

I appreciate that, thank you
13:30 Forcing them to eat fruits like love love and snake just shows what level of perverts they were, I really feel bad for her she blames herself being "Off guard" and going through SA and is paranoid that her people will suffer the same by men so she acts all strict and rude, also falling for the 1st man who showed her genuine kindness and not let her get away with "Coz i am Beautiful" is also sad (Also lot is a weird comedy gig by Oda) the sisters PTSD was so evident in that scene
I would've never imagined how creative and dangerous rubber can be. Goda indeed
I deadass screamed at the wake her ass up clip😂😂😂
I love the "romance" betwen hancock and luffy, not because it's a good one, Boa don't deserve luffy, and also he doesn't care about that stuff. However is extremily funny to see the snake queen act like a highschooler in love, for this rando guy.
Basic Haki
Armament Haki
Observation Haki (also known as Mantra by skypians)
Conquerors Haki
The first 2 can be learned by training, conquerors Haki can’t be learned you have to be born with it! And all three forms of Haki can be mastered! Once mastered unlocks, Advanced versions of Haki.
To be strong in the one piece you either need an overpowered devil fruit or be a master of Haki
one of the most crazy arcs is about to start XD
def my fav one piece reactor keep it up, btw love the editing style sm.
Thank you
26:21 Hancock really thought she had to put out a facade, but Luffy actually already changed her. That scene she actually said to her people, don't do it again (or something similar I don't remember) instead of cold silence.
When i first saw her my first impression on her was that she was a Spoiled, Insecure, little brat that's never been said no to because of her fruit but what made me take it all back was they're backstory.
Hola queria decirte que disfruto mucho de tus reacciones a One Piece! Gracias por tus videos!
13:45 damn. One of the few cutaways thats off 😂
She likes Luffy cause he doesn't see her by her beauty but by who she is and how she acts
While even most of people of her island like and respect her because of her beauty
It's even sadder that most of the fanbase also like her because of how she looks not because of her character development
Queenblaze has been harsh for pretty much every character...
Nami, Robin, Brook, Franky, etc. Most of them she has warmed up to.
People with trauma leen to develop some type of defence mechanism, these things don't just go, they change the person forever, some times more stressed or aggressive
Basically she is like that so people see her as a strong ruthless women
It's not a facade she is like that because of her experience
7:06 the Katt Williams meme was perfect 😂😂😂
The edits were hilarious this video!!!!
"When are they going to show the rest of the crew"
Me holding back my tears for knowing what is going to happen to Sanji 😰😭 Why is the world so cruel! Poor Sanji!
You probably thought no one could top Sanji. Congrats on meeting the simp of the century.
Think of it this way, if Luffy and Elder Nyon don't hate her, then maybe she isn't so bad.
That’s true Luffy even seen her kick the animals and didn’t get upset. Luffy is a great judge in character.
I binged watched the epiusodes, never thought I´d be binge watvhing react videos of the episodes hahaha
Here we go! were heading into one of the best arcs of the story imo.
Hancock x Luffy pairing is a go!
You probably won't even see this but just wanted to apologize for saying your reactions were bad on one of the early One Piece videos. Your reactions are amazing!
25:08 Lmfao speechless reaction time.
Always love the edits
Your feelings on Boa Hancock is pretty much I I feel about her. Though kicking the small adorable animals is a gag I like to establish that she is utterly cruel. But there is one moment during one arc that made me at least respect her coming up. But yeah, I feel you on this one. "Hurt people hurt people..."
I’m surprised you didn’t realize the pun there
“Her BACK story”
It’s literally baked in. It was very clever. By oda
Hello Queenblaze in the manga there’s a whole cover story showing aces adventures just wanted to give you a heads up
oh geez I'm getting chills here.... it's about to begin eh? We're almost done with the preliminaries...
...........I promise you luffy is already her's he just hasn't realized it yet. Just give him a couple years it'll stick 😂🤣
28:12 I still say that if he had, he'd have his hands on her for perhaps five seconds before dropping to his knees begging 'please'.
I think he knows that to.
Luffy fever is INSANE
And so it begins~ 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Like Sanji once said in Arlong Park, and his Zombie in Thriller Bark
LOVE IS ALWAYS A HURRICANE!!!
Boa Hancock could get a tattoo on her back and no one would know she was a slave 🗿
Wait didn’t Nami change her tat?🤔 Totally didn’t think of this
@@QueenBlazeBecause she likely doesn't want to feel that kind of pain again. She would have to be rebranded.
its fun seeing her kick pets too. its her thing, people will hate it if oda suddenly change it
and we are about to start 3 arcs of straight PEAK
Luffy proving what he can do with the gum gum fruit 😂
