I started my microlocs watching the one and only Patience Edet! I thought i'd make this video to add what she started and show you how I started and maintain my own micro locks. It's not only microlocks that can use interlocking; traditional locks, braid locks, even those with sisterlocks!
I hope this video proves to be helpful to you and it's clear enough for you to be able to follow it simply. I had a lot of fun making it!

Your video just made my entire night. Thank you for the laughs. Its funny that you named Patience Edet as your loc inspiration. I really wanted sisterlocs and was quoted way more than id ever pay for hair. Your youtube videos and her pictures all over pintress really motivated me to start locs. & thanks to Mireille Liong here on youtube I installed my own set of braidlocs and been interlocing them myself. All three of you deserve the praise. Thanks for the motivation.. :)

They're coming alone great. When i started them I was a little worried about how scalpy it looked. Then when i saw everyone on youtube saying they had hundreds and hundreds of locs I was worried. (I only have 113) But this month will make 5 months and they've plumped up and i love my hair so much.
+Ariet Othow I know exaaaaactly what you mean! I started mine with the intention of having as many as possible (500+), but once I started I couldn't make them that tiny, and the scalpy look was very real. Now they have plumped up, I thank God I only reached 350, because I can't imagine self maintenance with 500+ locs. I'd definitely have to pay someone to do it for me lol 😂😂😂

I paid $500 to get my sisterlocks started and still pay 30 an hour for retightening. I don't have the patience nor the arm strength to do my own. I am very impressed with your hair. It looks amazing! You should start your own business doing other girls hair! You have a great personality that comes through in your videos. Blessings!

This was very helpful. I am going to the shop to get them started because that will be best for me and I may go to the shop for my first 4 tightenings. But after that I will do them myself. This gives me confidence that I can do it. I was going to do them myself but my wonderful children came together to get them started as a 44th birthday gift. Thank the Lord they think I am a good mom. Or I would have had to spend about a month or two doing it myself because of my work schedule. I am so ready to start this journey. It has been a long time coming.

Your hair is gorgeous! I am 7 months in and loving it. I don't have micro locs, but I did start my locs via interlocking. I have traditional small locs. Seeing your locs is inspiring, tfs. New subscriber.
I really had fun watching this tutorial for which I’ve watched many. You really put depth in this video even with explaining if you forget your rotation, just don’t enter the space twice. I’ve found true encouragement with this footage. Thank you for slowing it down and giving real clarity to the subject matter.

MaameRMaamehow can we learn from you if you keep making us laugh. you should be a comedian fr. i dont have sisterlocs... more like pencil or pen size. ugggh all of em aint that size tho. 🙈. i want interlock them but not over do it. last set i did and cut em off. i thought about getting sisterlocs or try to do it myself....it start off fine but when i get to the side and back of my hair... i get mad at myself...screaming why. cant do it. lovely locs. and keep being funny. love it. peace

I must say that this has been a really helpful video. I'm starting my locks (again) and was wondering when I'm going to finish as I now have hair past shoulder length. Using just my hands at first really gets things moving along. Thank you so much for sharing!

This is the light trying to disgrace me..i truly understand the ashy fight. Thank you for this tutorial very inspiring. i started over from beginning in January. i did not like my parts so went smaller because of my thin hair. loving it now but retightening was a trip. i wont retighten until may but i got your help now.

You look good without makeup....and I love the method you use. I just did two strand twist yesterday to start off but I prefer your method. I think I'll restart over one twist at a time. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the humour aswell. 😁
+Dorothy Williams thank you very much! And you're welcome! You don't have to re-do all you're locs. You can just choose to maintain with interlocking. Only thing you may notice is a lot of shrinkage, but that happens with interlocking as well

MaameRose absolutely gorgeous I have watched several tutorials and this is the best one by far. I want to get sister locks but dreading the amount of time it may take. I had the same issue with my edges but over the past year I have been massaging my edges with the Jamaican black castor oil and they are fuller than ever. I don't have locks so i am not sure how that may affect your hair just an suggestion. Have a wonderful blessed journey. Love your positive attitude and patience to show us your skills. Thank you

Hi Rose I watched your video about 2 years ago and now I'm 3 years locked. What works for me is braiding the new growth with the lock and then retighten. You can try that or just solely braiding it lasts a while.

+Kimberly Gaffney don't be nervous, take your time and don't feel the need to rush. I took two weeks to install mine. Go at a pace you feel comfortable with and rock head wraps till you're done!

Lmao friggin love you! Honestly, you really look totally fine without the makeup and even with the sweat! And I don't see why people make such a big deal about your edges, cuz they don't look that bad to me either! At least you HAVE hair there. I know plenty of people that are totally bald in those 2 spots but with fuzzies right at the edge of their hairline. So, you good girl! With your retightening, I tooootally understand the procrastination... but from the videos I've watched, the #1 reason I've heard of people losing a loc here and there is from waiting too long to retighten. So the new growth becomes weak in comparison to the weight of the loc, and they pop off. I experienced similar troubles when I TRIED transitioning from relaxed to natural lol... maybe recruit a friend to help and have some wine on deck so it can be something to look forward to lol. Happy loc'ing!
+PhoeJay123 Hahaha! Thank you 😊 I agree with the dangers of leaving it too long between retightenings...I don't want to lose any of my girls! If I do a retightening after 6 weeks then I can do it easily during the weekend. But when it's like this....Lord, takes like a week and I HATE it 😂

Finally got a way to loc the edges. Mine are just over year old and its been trial and error - i mean for real. Not sure if they're sister locs but everyone keeps commenting that they're tiny. I'm just glad i can do the edges properly now.

+ a.d.w.n if you check out patience edet she has a fantastic tutorial on starting locs and her locs are beautiful now. As long as your patient with your hair RUclips has many great tutorials on starting your locs. I have about 500 micro locs last check I have very thick hair though. Find out what suits you best. Good luck on your journey 👍
