    I would love to see an episode on Caol Ila. Octomore knocked my socks off and opened my eyes to peat but Caol Ila 12 drew me in like a warm hug. About the 18yo peated Highland... there are a few options besides Ardmore like Glenturret, Allt-A-Bhainne, Ballechin or even perhaps Ben Nevis or Jura... ^^ but I believe you guys are right with Ardmore :-)
    Edit: Caol Ila is going to become the next Lagavulin (which figures bc both are owned by Diageo but anyways). 10yo hand-fill costs 130£ atm... I mean it's really good but come on

    Best podcast ever 🤩 love you guys, keep up that amazing content ❤
    About grain vs malt, i think the big difference is the type of stills used when it comes to how fast its aging to that mellow point, column stills usually stripping the spirit to a higher abv and cleaner spirit which takes more time to age to get the same feeling of pot still distillation 🤓 so its not all about malt or grain but more in the process 💛

      @TheWhiskyBaron 5 месяцев назад

    Interesting episode, but not sure there’s enough there (for me) to make me consider buying these products over other rival ones.
    I wonder if you would ever consider doing an episode on Edradour? They have some great sherried bottles and their own peated ‘Ballechin’ range, not to mention a ton of wild wine cask maturations (which range from meh to astounding). I love what they do though and they don’t seem to command any sort of attention except from fanboys like myself. Slainte mhath

      @TheWhiskyBaron 5 месяцев назад

      We’ll definitely get Edradour into the mix for you! Love Ballechin myself.

      @@TheWhiskyBaron looking forward to that episode already. If you can get an older bottling (one of the 21 or 22yr ones) you’ll be in for a treat.
      Well tell a lie I think the Canadian Corn whisky sounds great and the effusive praise of you gents would definitely make that one id buy - the fact it is unique and different makes it, in my opinion, well worth trying. The others don’t really offer anything exceptional. There’s tons of young Islay on the market for example, usually bourbon matured - even just changing that to something like a Fino cask maturation would be really interesting and make me way more likely to buy it despite the fact I know it’d cost a lot more.
      For me my issue with boutiquey(and) this sample set is a good example) is that they are inconsistent, and I don’t feel like I’m guaranteed a base level of quality, so a purchase feels like a gamble. Unless i see/hear rave reviews about a certain bottle I just don’t want to take that risk when other IB’s offer more consistency for very similar products.

On the grain front wonder if you chaps have had the pleasure of sampling any of the Bains (from SA) expressions, tried a Shiraz 10 yr and an 18 yr old fino and they are very different to any grain I have tried before - delicious to boot!
