Having lived in South Florida, I can tell you this song came out in 1994 and was a huge hit. Darius & Dan Marino are actually good friends who have played a ton of golf together. And even though Darius Rucker has gone over to country and been extremely successful, Hootie & The Blowfish still do concerts and have a huge benefit concert in South Carolina, home of the Gamecocks every year.
it's crazy how big Hootie exploded. they were playing college towns and when blues traveller and dave matthews took off, they exploded soon after. you saw them and heard them everywhere. i even saw an Friends rerun the other day and they were talking about going to see Hootie at MSG.
Always liked Hootie. I’d graduated college and been working for a couple of years, just was settling into my career. I’d bought a Dodge truck and would listen to Hootie on the way to work. This was one of my first CD’s. My new truck had a CD player. I remember wanting a cassette player because of all the cassettes I had. I had to go out and
Blowfish formed in college at South Carolina. If you go back to the video for wagon Wheel,it starts with Darius Rucker lying in bed! The blanket is a South Carolina Gamecocks blanket! Saw them live in Atlanta (Chastain Park). They were barefoot and chug a lugging out of fifth’s of whiskey onstage. I don’t know how they didn’t fall off the stage, let alone remember the lyrics. If they were drunk, you couldn’t tell! Maybe it was just iced tea! They put on a great show!!!
I love these guys...this song takes me back. Their music got a lot of radio play. Didn't know they were from SC until I moved there. My biggest surprise in later years was discovering Darius Rucker as a country artist. Thanks for this reaction. 😊
@ReactionsByJeff do you remember a band called Live?they sing Throwing Copper.they are supposed to be working on new music and a come back.same for Three Doors also.
Hootie is awesome Plus the Bob Dylan reference is cool for the lyrics where he says out on a little Dylan then he says I'm tangled up in blue (great song by Bob)
#33 is Alonzo Mourning who was playing for Charlotte. Darius is from SC and a huge sports fan. Obviously a Dolphins fan too. The band met at the University of South Carolina. They credit David Letterman for launching them from a college band to being world famous. I Took the whole family to see them live this summer. Still awesome. You should do this one next Darius Rucker "So I Sang". It is from his solo career but he has said it is the one song that truly him. ruclips.net/video/YfOLTh9W01A/видео.htmlsi=Klb9TR8NXt8v_ocV
I was going to say Alonzo my son was 10 when this came out and him being a huge Charlotte Hornets fan(we live in N.C.),he loved this video and would watch it every morning before school, lol,he still has his jersey Santa brought him that year😊
from the wikipedia page on this video... The accompanying music video for "Only Wanna Be with You", similar to the song, had a sports theme, incorporating many elements from ESPN's SportsCenter. The video featured appearances by (then-current) SportsCenter anchors Keith Olbermann, Dan Patrick, Mike Tirico, Charley Steiner and Chris Berman, reporting on the band playing in games with several professional athletes, including Dan Marino, Fred Couples, Gary McCord, Alonzo Mourning, Muggsy Bogues, Alex English, Walt Williams, and Charles Smith.[6][10] Rucker said the video was his idea, adding, "It was just a way to meet all our idols."
I saw them a few times before they made it big. They played in a club in Myrtle Beach S.C. when i was stationed there at the Air Force Base in the early 90s.
This was 30 years ago, and the sports commentator in the end of the video, Mike Tirico is now covering the Olympic games! Didn't know he was in this video until now!
I was flying on a small flight from Pennsylvania to Upstate NY with my husband and kids to a wedding and I saw a couple guys sitting off to the side of the boarding area playing on handheld video games and the one guy was black but I noticed he had on really nice and expensive cowboy boots. Being a woman I told my husband, those boots are movie star level expensive! That has to be someone important. Of course he shushed me and was like, you're nuts. lol I watched from a distance and when he looked up I saw it was Darius Rucker, and his bandmates. The year was 2006. We boarded the plane and flew to our destination and the entire time my husband was SURE it was not Hootie and the Blowfish and we went back and forth for the next 45 minutes about it. When we landed he stayed inside to get our rental car and I walked the kids outside and right in front of the tiny airport was the Hootie tourbus! My husband came flying out of the airport all excited and was like "You won't believe it! I just met Darius Rucker in the airport and he was so amazingly nice!" I said "NOOOO, REALLY????!!!" lol As they boarded their bus they waved to the kids as they pulled out and the kids thought that was really cool. I'm pretty sure that they probably overheard my husband and I going back and forth and thought it was funny that I tried to convince him for an hour while he was telling me I was nuts and that's why Darius Rucker went over to shake my husband's hand. Only to come at me like he knew it the whole time. I'm a woman. I know a pair of $10,000 hand sewn ostrich boots when I see them.
If I recall during their reign 4 out of every 10 cds/cassettes sold were Cracked Rear View. I do not stand by my faded memory fueled facts but it sure seemed like it at the time😂
My sister was at USC when Hootie was just hitting radio, I think she sold a pair of gloves to a member back in the gap between her master's and when her first research grant started. Nice guys.
Went to college with Darius , got caught in girls dorm room one night ! We were crap faced but knew him well just saying ! As SC graduate I was happy for them cause they started playing local spot in Columbia SC group therapy etc bars ! They finally made it ! I didn’t lol
Bob Rivers did a parody of this song (similar to Weird Al) called "Three Inch Tool"; lyrics are: Little me, my nuts are small as pearls You like to laugh at me 'cause I'm hung just like a squirrel Sometimes it bugs me, I'm not a bigger guy When I was a baby, I was exactly the same size But there's nothin' I can do 'Cause I only got a three-inch tool Come home with me, have a cocktail at my place I gotta tell you before we get past second base In my pants ain't no big schwing But if you can find him he's a friendly little thing But there's nothin' I can do I only got a three-inch tool When I'm comin' out of the pool I only got a one-inch tool Sometimes I wonder if it'll ever extend I get embarrassed when I'm hangin' with my friends They like to razz me, I don't know why They get me a Happy Meal and super-size my fry And there's nothin' I can do I only got a three-inch tool When I'm comin' out of the pool I only got a one-inch tool Yeah it's small but it's real cool I'm happy with a three-inch tool I only got a three-inch tool
BP: “You know, those outlet malls, in the pockets of the suburbs” Rush “The suburbs have no charms to soothe the restless dreams of youth”. (Is that enough of an incentive to get you to check out “Subdivisions”?)
The lead singer, Darius Rucker who people refer to as hootie, even though that wasn't the intention when he named the band has had a very successful solo career also, in the country genre.
Mugsy wasn't just short, he was almost the size to be classified as a dwarf!!! He was 5' 3"!!!! Possibly the greatest athlete EVER in the NBA. WHO has less to play with then hum in a league of true giants?
All these years, it never crossed my mind that he was talking about the Miami Dolphins, making him cry. I just assumed it was because dolphins getting caught up in tuna nets or something.
Hey Pegasus, love your channel all the way from the UK. I'm a big fan of Darius Rucker. Would love for you to react to Rucker and Adele singing a cover of Lady A's "Need You Now". They sing live at the Country Music Awards and personally I think it's better than the original
MIAMI DOLPHINS WHERE in a huge movie and now a huge song RIGHT ON Miami Dolphins they have been my fav PRO FOOT BALL TEAM Not much in to foot ball like i WAZ
WHAAAAT!!! What!!! Back when I’d sit on my couch in the summer and just inhale both MTV and sportscenter like drugs. This was the perfect video!!! How about how Crazy that Olberman Guy became!!! Jesus H!!!
This song played EVERYWHERE "back in the day." I do love Hootie and the Blowfish and I love how Hootie has become so good in Country music, by his real name Darius Rucker. Such a versatile singer. H &TB brings me back to the 90's everytime. Thank you for your reaction and for sharing it with all of us.

Hootie and The Blowfish always bring a good feeling when I hear them. A total gift to the ears. AND the heart.
Too bad there's very lil feelings these days...terrible world😢
I'm so old, I still have that album on a cassette tape, lol! Good stuff!
it's crazy how big Hootie exploded. they were playing college towns and when blues traveller and dave matthews took off, they exploded soon after. you saw them and heard them everywhere. i even saw an Friends rerun the other day and they were talking about going to see Hootie at MSG.
From their first hit, I just loved their sound!! When they shifted more towards country, I still loved their sound.
It was a big song, I loved it when it was released.

My college days! Hootie & Blowfish went to University of South Carolina! Go Gamecocks!
Saw them at five points before I knew who Hootie and the Blowfish were.
Mine too (Class of 1986)! I remember seeing flyers all around campus for Hootie & the Blowfish but sadly I never went.
Loved em brother !
@@TubE-tr8yiyep same here ! Group therapy and couple places !
One of my favourites ❤
I’m so glad you reacted to Hootie. Great concert back in the 90’s, and definitely on my playlist regularly. 😊
BACK in the 70s The Bay City Rollers Had a huge hit called I ONLY WANNA BE WITH YOU.
@ yes, I believe it was a cover originally sang by Dusty Springfield. Bay City Rollers were a staple at the roller rink. 😊
Darius is an amazing artist.i got to see Hootie live as kid and the entire band has a great stage presence.look for 'The Old Man and Me'😊🖤🎵🔥🖤🎵🔥
I love this band and the song
Darius is such a fan that he named one of his daughters Dani after Dan Marino
Just love this song
i sat side by side with darius in isle of palms at the windjammer slamming some beer... hes a great person
And now, Darius Rucker- lead singer- is one of the biggest stars in Country. Watch “ Wagon Wheel” video! Great vid and song with Darius!
You keep taking me back to Jr hs and HS. Love it, thank you!!!
I love Hootie & the Blowfish! Pretty much everyone did. Definitely do more.
Saw them before they were big here in Columbia, SC at a college bar called Group Therapy. They are what you see as far as people go.
Hootie, Gin Blossoms, Matchbox 20, Tonic, and the Goo Goo Dolls made for a great decade--on the men's side.
@ReactionsByJeff do you remember a band called Live?they sing Throwing Copper.they are supposed to be working on new music and a come back.same for Three Doors also.
I was so totally a Hootie & Blowfish fan in Columbia SC at this time in college! They were amazing then & now
He is favorite! No matter what he does! Huggers and love! Pegasus!❤😊❤
This is DEFINITELY my favorite Hootie song!!
Met Darius one night at a bar (Keg of Nails) in Columbia SC he used to sing at before they blew up and he was the nicest most humble guy.
Loved it,heard his album and went and bought it straight away,1995.then he disappeared until I heard him one day on a country station.
I still have this CD.
Good memories!
Yeah, he said the Dolphins wanna make me cry: I’m still crying
😂
Dan Marino-one of the best quarterbacks to never win a Super Bowl. He played at University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) and I saw him play many times.🎉
@chrismiller4348Hey-I’m a Steelers fan-I feel your pain! Loved Dan Marino-watched him play often at Pitt!
This was their huge breakthrough hit!
Hootie is awesome
Plus the Bob Dylan reference is cool for the lyrics where he says out on a little Dylan then he says I'm tangled up in blue (great song by Bob)

Absolutely 🔥
Love this song and his mini tribute to Dylan within. Tangled Up In Blue and Idiot Wind
This was my first CD and i was so excited to get it! I got the CD and then my grandparents took my uncle and me to their concert. It was Awsome lol

L9ve this group!!
I loved Darius Rucker's voice in Hootie and the Blowfish, and I love him as a country artist.
“Time “ Hootie & the Blowfish ✌
Another great band similar to Hootie was Blessed Union Of Souls, check out their big hits "I Believe" or "Let Me Be The One"
I saw them a few times before they made it big. They played in a club in Myrtle Beach S.C. when i was stationed there at the Air Force Base in the early 90s.
HOOTIE AND THE BLOWFISH STARTED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN COLUMBIA, S.C.! HOMETOWN FAVES🥰
I still have the concert t-shirt from the 98-99 tour from Michigan.
It Won’t Be Like This for Long will definitely pull at your “Dad heartstrings.” 🥰
Yes!

Another good Hootie song is Hannah Jane. It was their first song I remember hearing.
Darius went so lo o and he has a killer country album with the hit song 'Wagon wheel A great song PERIOD!!!
If I recall during their reign 4 out of every 10 cds/cassettes sold were Cracked Rear View.
I do not stand by my faded memory fueled facts but it sure seemed like it at the time😂
Bobby is so cool.❤️✌️🌼

This whole album bangs
Lyric… “I’m tangled up in blue” - a tribute to that song by Bob Dylan.
Went to college with Darius , got caught in girls dorm room one night ! We were crap faced but knew him well just saying ! As SC graduate I was happy for them cause they started playing local spot in Columbia SC group therapy etc bars ! They finally made it ! I didn’t lol
Yes it's a new time capsule. ❤
Bob Rivers did a parody of this song (similar to Weird Al) called "Three Inch Tool"; lyrics are:
Little me, my nuts are small as pearls
You like to laugh at me 'cause I'm hung just like a squirrel
Sometimes it bugs me, I'm not a bigger guy
When I was a baby, I was exactly the same size
But there's nothin' I can do
'Cause I only got a three-inch tool
Come home with me, have a cocktail at my place
I gotta tell you before we get past second base
In my pants ain't no big schwing
But if you can find him he's a friendly little thing
But there's nothin' I can do
I only got a three-inch tool
When I'm comin' out of the pool
I only got a one-inch tool
Sometimes I wonder if it'll ever extend
I get embarrassed when I'm hangin' with my friends
They like to razz me, I don't know why
They get me a Happy Meal and super-size my fry
And there's nothin' I can do
I only got a three-inch tool
When I'm comin' out of the pool
I only got a one-inch tool
Yeah it's small but it's real cool
I'm happy with a three-inch tool
I only got a three-inch tool
Wow! Keith Olberman before he caught TDS and anti-O’Reilly. Lol
Hottie and the cowboys.....Darius Rucker on a country tip and rocking it now
BP: “You know, those outlet malls, in the pockets of the suburbs”

According to Steph Curry, the saying among players at the time was that if you can't see Bugsy, he's under you, stealing the ball:)
I know every generation says this but I truly believe the 90's had the best music of any decade.
Now that we have gotten into Darius' amazing voice, ya gotta react to "Time", arguably the best song on the album. Guarantee you will love it!
Darius is amazing and does fantastic concerts. As a dad, check out It Won’t Be Like This For Long and This!
Hootie's a country star now 🙃 Darius Rucker
Just love those college bands. I think the best known and my favorite is U2.
All these years, it never crossed my mind that he was talking about the Miami Dolphins, making him cry. I just assumed it was because dolphins getting caught up in tuna nets or something.
You should hear him do grinch!❤😊❤
That's Alonso Morning of the Charlotte Hornets!
"Not Even The Trees"
This song is a tribute to Bob Dylan. There are various excerpts of lyrics from other Dylan songs throughout this one.
Darius whoo!😊
Yea i prefer listening on this one😊
Have you played Darius Rucker - Don't Think I Don't Think About it. One of his first songs in years. Didn't kno,w how much his voice was missed.
💚💚💚💚💚
Singing not rap without the unwholesome lirics glad you enjoyed it you just didn't know what good music
Hey Pegasus, love your channel all the way from the UK. I'm a big fan of Darius Rucker. Would love for you to react to Rucker and Adele singing a cover of Lady A's "Need You Now". They sing live at the Country Music Awards and personally I think it's better than the original
Don't throw the golf ball bro.. Give er the ol "Foot Wedge" 😉
Darius Rucker the singer is now a huge country artist. Check out his song Wagon Wheel
Yeah my daughter got a couple of drumsticks tossed at her a couple of different times from Hootie and the Blowfish before they were well known.
I think let her cry is their best song.
I think the key line is "when I go out with my friends".. obviously, his friends are all going out and being fools.. just like the lyrics are saying.
In an age of Grunge, be a Hootie or a Blowfish instead. Good stuff.
Marino. Bogues. Larry fucking Johnson. Beast Mode
My boys from South Carolina go gamecocks they all went to USC
MIAMI DOLPHINS WHERE in a huge movie and now a huge song RIGHT ON Miami Dolphins they have been my fav PRO FOOT BALL TEAM Not much in to foot ball like i WAZ
❤
WHAAAAT!!! What!!!
Back when I’d sit on my couch in the summer and just inhale both MTV and sportscenter like drugs. This was the perfect video!!! How about how Crazy that Olberman Guy became!!! Jesus H!!!
You need to watch another version of this song…Darius Rucker hits a really low base note at the very end of the song
Try blessed Unions of souls I believe. It's a very powerful song
Darius is a big Miami Dolphins fan.
So surely someone has already said the lead singer is Darius Rucker who you have heard sing a couple of country songs.
Id never seen the vid 😂
Good comment .
He was always Darius, never was Hootie. It was just a group name they came up with.
Great song! Silly video.
All I hear is "A E I O U!"
