    Just got my Ssangyong Musso Ultimate here in Australia! It's phenomenal and the best 4wd ute I've ever driven. I've worked in the mining industry the last 15 years constantly and my daily drives have been Toyota Hilux, Cruiser and recently Ford Ranger Raptor as fleet vehicles. The Musso blows them all away with room, comfort and technology for half the price. Test drive the Musso and you won't be disappointed. It is definitely not underpowered and performs wonderfully on the highway at speed as well as having a great turning circle around town. It's the best value for money ute on the market without sacrificing quality materials.

    This car is pretty popular among small business owners in korea. pretty good value for money. I personally like the rugged design. SSangyong has been making pickups for decades and thus pretty reliable. The only problem is that the car is a bit too big to find a parking space in the city, and of course rear seats are uncomfortable compared with regular SUVS.

    I've been looking at the DL 40 and I see you are comparing like for like and saying that the dmax is 8% more - does this mean the Musso comes with a locking rear diff?

    • @clarioncarsuk8837
      @clarioncarsuk8837  Год назад +1

      Hey Mark, that's right, to get a DL40 to the same spec as the Musso you'd have to spend an extra £1060, and yes the Musso has a locking rear diff active in 4WD modes.
      Even if you didn't spend the extra on the DL40 options to get it the same as the Musso, you're still 4% better off.
      However, do take a close look at the current pricing and specs as I made this video over 6 months ago and prices have risen on both trucks since then, although *I think* the price differential has widened again to the advantage of the Musso this year.

    What about depreciation? Friends tell me a 10 year old Hilux is sought after but will a 10 year old SsangYong have any residual value?

    • @clarioncarsuk8837
      @clarioncarsuk8837  Год назад

      It's superb to be honest around 65-70% retained after 3 years! Take a look at my video here from 12 mins for a look at depreciation!: ruclips.net/video/Q-b6NwvFCfA/видео.html

    • @ssingh6387
      @ssingh6387 Год назад

      Musso is fairly cheaper up front with all the bells and whistles. Hilux mainly retains the extra you have paid up front + interest you paid on the loan

    • @clarioncarsuk8837
      @clarioncarsuk8837  Год назад +1

      I'd say that both trucks have a similar depreciation curve regardless of accessories, however the Musso is always cheaper due to the lower initial purchase price, and hence is more popular as a used vehicle.

    • @clarioncarsuk8837

      Nope, it's still using the tried and tested 6 speed Aisin box, it's really due to the superb low ratio pulling that matches well with the Musso.

      @@teamtempest844 "official" wading depth of 350mm is just "don't put our truck in the watar" warning. any 4x4 that tall as musso can go deeper than 350mm including musso. You can actually go deeper easily....(if you have been doing some off roading, you'll know wading depth is most worthless spec since no experts recommend to cross any deep water becasue it is way too Dangerous and hurts environment too much...that's why land rover always bragging about wading depth. Because Novody go off road in a land rover anymore)Even with their older and smaller vehicles. they always said "just don't put our trucks/suvs in the water.... they just don't wanna give you same warranty if you put their truck into some water like many automakers. Yeah The design of wheel arch and front bumper is somewhat wrong for a genuine off roader(i cut off the half of the front bumper and front wheel arch to make it viable) but they are being used in korean military without many changes from civvie spec vehicles. They got anti-reflective Camo Paint, EMP protection, "Off road" Bumpers with Recovery hooks... it means it passed all requirement tests of korean army(by...cut off some front bumper...) And army tests their 4x4 before give official code and logistics stuff. And it need to cross some water without getting damaged in the test... for doing Military stuff. it's main use is mobile command vehicle to replace some of kia k131, current main small 4x4(new heavy duty K151 is too wide for many off roads in mountain pass, or any roads in korea. it's also too expensive for replace those cheap k131 with old mazda petrol engine). Call a 4x4 bad for having bad "official" wading depth is just laughable. so many vehicle's "official" specs and recommendations are just for keep the vehicle out of any possible trouble. You can do crazy stuff and it can. you really think this can't cross 500mm of water???? Triton's 500mm of official wading depth is based on alternator's location. And musso's alternator is located higer than that....
