A lot of people don’t factor in how difficult it is to settle into retirement mode and budgeting and dealing with boredom, especially if you’re moving into a small budget apartment. Retirement requires discipline and commitment to decades of being able to fill in your time without blowing your budget and staying healthy.
I think if your monthly pension or retirement is $2,000/month, you should be fine unless you abuse your budget. I am a single guy in my late 50s. I will be retire in Thailand at approximately $3200/month. My main motivation is, I want to eat out everyday. I am not a big drinker maybe a beer or two every now and then. But I love to eat and I plan to eat a lot and walk a lot in Thailand. I want to live a simple life. I just want an Ok condo or apartment nearby restaurants or street food. I am an introvert. It is hard to live comfortably in the U.S at $3,000/month unless you have a wife or a girlfriend who also have money. I am happy and envy all of you there. Live your life while you get a chance before you die.
I recommend doing a video on how you or others fill most of their time on a typical day. Most people, I would imagine, mostly focus on financially preparing for retirement and don't take into consideration how they will spend the roughly 16 hours they are awake everyday. Getting a coffee, cooking, going for a walk or the gym, meeting with friends, hobbies, etc.
As a retiree in Thailand for seven months now, I've seen this question asked many times. The answer is, minimum $400 - 500 a month if you live like a cheap charlie hermit in a pos apartment eating cheap food every day (which is sad way to live), and there is no maximum especially when you're a monger.
Youre bang on, I lived in Tenerife for 3 years , you have to calm down and live like you would in the UK , by that I mean eat sensible, drink sensible and get yourself healthy with exercise otherwise you will burn out and end up on a drip in hospital, so many people who I knew have now died in their 50s due to over doing it
In the long game, a regular girl will cost you more than a weekly " takeaway" girl. The sex becomes less and less frequent, as in the majority of cases. Better then, to save up for a " big night out" with a looked, and once you are a regular, these girls do tend to drop their price if they actually enjoy your company and are good sanook😉
Could you do a video on the social side of living over there, Daz? i.e., hobbies, social groups, friends, etc, as well as get togethers with other expats
Other you tubers are often stating how busy it is over there this high season never looks like it to me when I see these videos . Good information in this vlog
I imagine the price difference is huge. I am in Pattaya at the monenrt, & the cost of food is roughly a quarter to that in Australia. I actually wouldn't bother cooking here in Thailand, given there are plenty of meals available for 60, 70 thb. Go down some quiet little sois, some great food available for 60, 70 thb. Other things are obviously cheaper too, including clothes. I notice brands that are also in Western countries, such as Colgate, are only a little bit cheaper, & you can actually get them cheaper in the west if they are discounted. Having said that, if you can get tham at a discounted price here, which happens, BARGAIN! Stock up.. As for comapny, it is actually less too, though how much obviously varies depending on who you are dealing with, where you meet them, or even when.. 7am on the street when someone is heading home to sleep, but they decide you don't look too shabby, they might want to take a detour via your place rather cheaply.. Anyway, it does obviously, get expensive if you do it everyday though, which you inevitabaly wouldn't if you lived here. Some mature ladies still look pretty good, & if you click, happy days
Having visited Thailand many times and also having lived there for 6 months the price of living is higher there if you want to keep your living standard, not talking about "company". It starts with the condo or house. You can live Thai style and pay much less than you do back home or you want to keep up with the standard back home, you`ll pay as much if not more there. Food Thai style is really cheap and good. If you want western style food it`ll be more expensive. A normal food delivery - western style - comes around at the same cost as back in Europe. If your pension is less than than 2.500 USD per month as a single you will retire poorly in Thailand. Retirement should not be about depriving yourself of the things you like. In my point of view this video in general doesn´t provide an accurate view on the costs because it`s directed to a certain clientele.
Terrific advice Daz ,i watch all your videos always informative im retired now 74 and living here for 13 years i rent a house in Paniad Chang , and i average around 66000 bht per month , that may be helpful for some of your subscribers , cheers Daz regards Seagull.
@@Ardoyne10 That is not KING level living, and hasn't been in 20 years. That's a comfortable enough life, not knocking it. But you should not think that is the ultimate lifestyle or anything, it's not. A nice, small house with a pool would crush half of that budget. Visa expenses are way up for most people these days. Western food has gone up significantly over the last 5 years. Entertainment costs are up as well. So if you're just an ordinary guy living in a decent house, going out to Western style restaurants and going out for entertainment a few times per week, you'd exhaust that budget each month, when you factor everything else in. And that's certainly a decent lifestyle, but it doesn't leave a lot of room for BS.
66k you say...can i ask how much you would be going out scoiallising , how many nights a week...and is that also covering female company ...hope u dont mind answering
You forget that most pensioners need monthly medicine. In the uk it's free in Thailand expect to pay for example £100 per month for diabetes and hypertension medicine. NHS covers for Free not in Thailand 😔
Good advice n common sense too with good breakdown of monthly costs if planning on retiring there. When I lived there over 10ys ago I found that it’s best to get a partner that has a normal job…ie office, salon or shop worker which helps rather than from the bars or freelancers as they will just drain your money away. Always said if sensible u can live on 45-50k bt per mth easily….esp,if have own property n transport.
Depending on whether you want to live in retirement, or are just waiting to die in retirement one day. Thailand is not cheap anymore .But is still affordable .We live only one time
Hi Daz, would you be able to do a vlog on a normal shop in the supermarkets? E.g. cost of basics, vegetables, meat etc. Despite the cost of living crisis UK supermarkets are still relatively cheap, such as in Aldi can get shaving gel for about 70p whereas in Thailand it was nearer to £3 from what I remember. Would be interesting! Cheers
Yes, I would like to see you do a video of going to the local markets and buying meat, fish and veg that to take home to cook and showing the costs of this. Then another video of going to a supermarket to buy things like shaving products, shampoo, deodorant etc again to see the costs of these. I'm fine about you doing this in Baht, I can do the conversation into my local currency and I think most people should be. You could make this into a mini series buy then doing another at a drinks shop for beer, wine, spirits but also water and soft drinks. Just an idea. Thanks for all your great videos, I'm close to making the move to Thailand
condo rental, food, clothes, even transportation are in general much less expensive over in Thailand compared to most places in the USA. And you get warm weather, assuming you are looking for that. It is still relatively easy to exist in Thailand. how much you want to live, party, eating higher priced western food twice a day, how many girl friends you plan to short time or long time, soapy massages, boozing every day, etc.. can out pace your monies. Many expat retirees go a bit stir crazy after many months of having not much to do and not having much personal interests aside from work. He is totally correct in pointing out what you are going to do.
I’ve been living in Pattaya for 4 years and the prices are a lot higher. Even the shopping at Lotus and Big C have increased a good bit. So the prices are still ok but higher. I’d say a few thousand baht a month
Hi Daz, this is a great topic and I value your experience and comments. The one thing which I can see as a big variable in retirement planning is 'medical insurance'. I am about 60. My 'fitness/wellness' is very subjective. I am much fitter than some, less so than others. I would be really interested if you know anyone in town who can advise on this subject like your visa specialist friend does on visa's. We can all get caught out by ill health and/or accidents. It would really plug a gap if you can find anyone and/or do an episode on this aspect of living in Pattaya and Thailand. Thanks.
I am 66 pay 90,000 per year. You must disclose all know illnesses which will not be covered plus there is a first 4 month exclusion for big medical problems and some things like prostrate problems and related have a 2 year waiting period. I go with pacific cross.it is a mine field when buying medical insurance I read the policy from cover to cover and this seemed to cover all my concerns.Any pre medical conditions you will have to pay yourself. It’s roughly 2-3 thousand bhat a hospital visit 300-400bhat for a walk in street clinic. Hope this helps.
@@martincowie4277 good info sir Martin. As a USA resident I do have USA medicare which is going to settle out at 200 USD a month. Now it is not much good in Thailand or outside the USA, although emergency treatments are supposed to be covered and can be re-imbursed. So medical, proper medical is a concern for older folks. I turn 66 in May.
Great insights Daz. The important point you've made is to settle into Expat frugality vs. 2 Week Millionaire partying, ASAP. Finding the balance is key to survival, limiting yourself to one or two nights of decadence a week or month, if residing full-time. Unless you've divested all your assets and can truly afford to sustain a Thai lady financially, it would be best avoided. I honestly think you'd need a 'spare' 40k baht minimum to sustain a Thai partner, on top of your own expenses. And you're not gonna get a supermodel on that.
Hi myself has a nice 50yrs attractive girlfriend who lives in a village with her Mom wants to be My wife. Now im 82 when I Die Will she be entitled to my 50 % + Assets values by Law. ?
@@billvalentine4207 Quite possibly. I'd contact a legal professional to ensure she doesn't receive too much, or too little. Do you have a legal will and power of attorney in place? Perhaps worth a quick trip to either Bangkok or Pattaya to put something in place.
Blind leading the blind here. If you have to pay 40,000 baht per month to rent a woman, and an average looking woman at that, you're doing life wrong. Stay away from prostitutes' or ex-prostitutes, and don't be in relationships with girls who moved to Pattaya to find "love." There is no good reason to stay in a relationship with a woman long term if she does not actually love you. You wouldn't do it at home, don't do it here.
That’s a VERY accurate budget. When I was staying in Pattaya I had a gf (a 9) and we stuck to that budget. I would pay the bills put money in savings and whatever was leftover we would split. In fact I would leave our allowance out on a table for either of us to grab from whenever we needed. Although I told her she could take without asking she would still ask. If she wanted to go out with her friends she would only take 300 baht when there was a pile of cash on the table. Then she’d be video chatting with me, unsolicited, because she knows how jealous western men get when they go out alone and I had to keep explaining to her I’m not that type. She might’ve been video chatting to keep on eye on me too. At the moment I’m regretting leaving her for the Philippines, but I wanted to see what the Philippines has to offer before I make any final decision on where to retire. I almost brought her with me too, she even got her visa.
Whats the verdict Philippines or Thailand? I haven’t been to either place but my recent research has me considering trying both places. I just retired December 1 and was set on Dominican but I’m very interested in seeing what Thailand has to offer. I want to visit Thailand for a few weeks but feel somewhat intimidated about traveling solo because it seems like its so many hotel options and nightlife areas that I just don’t know where to began. Any insight from your experience will be highly appreciated.
i rent a great condo at the Orient Jomtien for 8,500 a month. and you can lose the 1,500 agent fee. since most of us dont cook for ourselves, raise the food bill to at least 10k.
I'm definitely thinking about doing this. Will be another 4 years before I retire and with pension, IRA and Social Security I will be able to live like a king in Thailand! Thanks for breaking the cost of living down! 😊
Also Daz, on what girls say they make take into consideration the "Pinocchio effect"(when they answer you do you see there nose growing????? Also take into consideration if they move in with you they save 4-5 thousand baht or more on there monthly rent(and probably a much better condo than the "tiny-crappy ROOM) they currently reside in ????????
Great solid advice ,costs are relatively correct ,with one exception. In my case I am 67 years of age and I pay 90,000 for a good quality health insurance per annum. This does not include dental.
@@rajahhindi3921 Ummmm! In Canada it is free! In Thailand, it is free for Thais in Govt funded hospitals! You are comparing apples with tamarinds. For one, he gave his age but you did not! He also did not say what his medical issues are... I am assuming that there may be a least one at age 67. And yes, it may seem high to some... especially if you are younger or have previously received your medical for free. But it is likely that he took out full medical insurance coverage with a Western insurance company... but even then that price would be within the normal range (even on the lower end) for his age! And if he does have medical issues then that would be quite cheap for full coverage! I have seen some Western companies offering coverage for as much as $10, 000 USD a year! You certainly can get coverage for $35 if you are in your 30s... but once you edge over 55 years: it balloons. One, of course, can get much cheaper insurance... but those are really stripped-down healthcare coverage and offers very little. This is for those who are very healthy and are willing to take that risk! That being said... many ex-pats in Thailand do NOT have health care coverage... so there is that! This may help or at least act as a guide. Regency for Expats (through jhoanne.baltonado@nowcompare.com... or, Kerese.Elliott@nowcompare.com) is offering full health insurance for his age for $373 for the first 3 months... and then at $124 USD per month after those 3 months are completed ($2488 per year). However, they do not seem to offer insurance past the age of 70... so there is that! Maybe his current insurance offers health insurance for as long as he lives at very competitive prices.
Thats correct. German Resistants needs also a health insurance. And it is a big point. 90.000 p.a. for 67 years old man is cheap. I checked for me 58 years old and they offer 70.000 up to 150.000 p.a.
@@thomasschumacher5362 I believe there is a severe mix-up with Rajah. Somehow he is mixing up his basic (govt funded) healthcare in Australia with what ex-pats must pay for healthcare in Thailand! It is really puzzling! He should see what his healthcare insurance would be if he travelled to America or Canada!... if he will be staying there long-term! Literally thousands at age 63.
Thanks for this info, Daz. My pension is almost three times the amount of that 1400 USD, and that's not counting Social Security when I have the age for that to kick in. I really need to get my plans together.

After watching your videos for the better part of a year, I have decided tom move to Thailand, I live in Tbilisi Georgia now, and the cost of living here, comforts and quality has nose dived over the last year, It is now a welcoming city or anything close to affordable to live here. That Elite Visa with watching your videos man has sold me on Thailand, I need to take a year to get my stuff in order, and I am out!!.
LOL! Retired means retired. You don't party every night, drink, etc. Relaxing, going to a gym, learning conversational Thai, meeting a "9-5" lady to date, not living with me, traveling through the country (you get the idea). I don't drink or smoke, so hopefully, I would do well retiring in Pattaya or Bangkok.
I totally agree about everything you mentioned. From condos, food, renting vs buying and company. Over the age of 60 why would you want to invest in a condo especially in a foreign country?
Your estimate is spot on; it goes up or down based on the individual need to indulge..true retirement is when you are six feet under; there are things to do everywhere that you live, and people just need to get involved within their community (either for free or extra income) and it will keep you active other than chasing putang.
That’s where I plan to retire to also. I’m 46 now and plan to do it within the next 8 years. I’ll holiday 6 weeks every year out there, until it’s time.
When I repatriated back to Australia a few years ago, I had a good amount of savings I wanted to transfer from Australia. Kasikorn bank made it VERY difficult for me to do in one transaction. In the end, I pulled it out of the ATM in Australia $500 at a time: cost a bit more but at least I got it. Whatever money you take to Thailand you should count on losing it. Agree about property: don't buy property in Thailand unless it's a quality condo a local expat would like to buy, like Saranchol in Naklua. You won't be able to move it on, the workmanship is garbage and you'll be rebuilding it in no time.
hi daz, about the cars, what you say is correct for the import, but lots of cars are assembled in thailand, such as Dmax ,Mu7 etc,i think the fortuner too.even harley davidsons are assembled in thailand and are cheaper then in the west,or slightly more expencive, for example a fatboy is under 30000 euro, the isuzu Dmax is 840000bath thats 22000 euro you will find nothing new in europe for that, and its the most famous car in thailand.
Thanks Daz for such detailed information. Greetings from all Swedish/Norwegian prospective retirees. By the way, the older our women get, the more they transform into strong men. We look forward to seeing a feminine woman before we die. Thanks Daz you are a star to us.
If you have a bar girl around you long time, you've still got to pay the bar fine per day & pay them a daily fee, & then you've got to feed them & buy them drinks ( & probably some of their friends) The downside is that you've got them around you all the time!
When I come bkk in March I will keep 80% of my lump sum in uk 🇬🇧 and live off the monthly pension I get and dip into the rest .. my gf will continue working & earn , in her office job .. we shall split the money every month , all should be ok .. I hope
Hi Daz, I think you've forgotten to mention one very important cost: health care insurance which is private and goes up in price the older you get. As an example, I have a friends who's in his late 70's and his insurance would cost him a 400 to 500 euro per month.....that's easily 15k Thai Baht extra......And the older you get, the more likely you going to need medical help....
Yes - No. 😵💫 🥴 😵 The insurance is a very difficult point, by every person it is different. How ill are you? And it depends from the insurance you select AND what is included AND when you select the insurance, 50 or 70 years. Your example seams for me a first class insurance!
@@Fliegerfan1 yes it is, but it's not the most expensive one.....the most expensive insurance was 700 euros....the difference was the maximum sum insured which was almost double
Cheers Daz. So a visa agent is 1500 a month which is 18k per year. That sounds about right from what I've heard if looking to arrange a retirement visa although I know some charge more. Maybe doing a video on visa agents would be good. Maybe you've done one already. Who is reputable?
Prices vary depending on which location you go through the red tape. Immigration Department of Pattaya, Bangkok and Chiang Mei charges you. Agencies only earns 100 usd for annual retirement visa
I believe (IIRC) the Thai government has some guarantee for Baht 1m in all per account holder if a Thai bank goes bust (per account holder, not per account). I believe the UK government has some guarantee for £85k in all per account holder if a UK bank goes bust (per account holder, not per account). Having 5 different accounts at the same bank will not get multiple payouts. So IMO yes it's not wise to move all your money from the UK to Thailand bearing in mind you'll want to leave Baht 800k there for your 'visa account'. If you have to move more then it would be wise to use multiple Thai Banks 'Just in case'. No Idea what guarantees there are in other countries.
ALL great advice and examples Daz. I will be careful when I retire in Pattaya. I will not go Casanova loco. I will go out to the bars and gentlemen's cubs etc. The first Friday or Saturday of every month ( or some other single day a month) and party like a 1-week tourist. and I will not fall in love.
Yeah I like the "Gik " system you talk about Daz having the same 3 girls each week . However I think you would need to have a good amount of experience in Pattaya to do that. You cant just jump into that one . I'm still a newbie .
Of course buy a condo if ur staying longterm 10+ years even if u sell at a slight loss u will have something to look forward to wen u sell ..renting is dead money 💰 ..rent for 1 year moving around every 2 months to get a feel for different areas and buildings then negotiate a good deal for you
@sidecar7714 rent 15,000 thb month is 1,800,000 over 10 years ..ur likely to get the majority of that back if u bought the condo somert to look forward ..personally I've both savings a condo and properties in uk spread the portfolio rental incomes are doin fantastic in uk 🇬🇧 . The condo I bought is,72m2 teak solid flooring 13 meter balcony sea breeze coconut palms in me garden its all retired expats here very quiet of a gem I'm very happy .to rent here is 20k month 1yr contract it's,worth looking around to find your perfect style
@sidecar7714 yes maintenance is tax deductible akso ..tax is so little really plus my tax allowance is £12,500 after that is maintenance deductions then 20% after so little my 4 houses have gone up in value £180,000 in value in past 4 years that's uk investment..thai condo is 26,000 thb the yearly fees well worth it in my eyes this is why I recommend diversity this condo is my home that's important peace of mind just a feeling but feelings are everything.
It's crucial to have a meaningful hobby. Dentists 10 times cheaper? You're right about 65,000 being more than enough. 50,000 being enough. A lot of new cars are cheaper than in GB. Check out the pick-up prices in GB. Way higher than Thailand. Just avoid imported ones. Or bikes. Good video.
Man. Im trusting you. Im coming February 1. Indefinitely. Btw i talked to a new visa agent. Farang Thai Visa. Similar rates to our dearly departed friend Darren. Hopefully she is also a skillful facilitator. 555.
Dont know if prices have come down, but I paid 1500 baht bar fine and 3000 for short time on walking street which is not too bad. Bar was lighthouse on WS. Dont know why people are complain about price. That's about only 500 baht more than before covid and most of the girls even when I paid long time on ws for 3k, they would leave after sex anyway or leave after 2 hours.
I love watching these videos. But all of them are how to live on $1000 a month or living cheaply. I want to see a video of what it's like to live on $5000 a month. Which will be my income in retirement.
I did buy two condos at good locations, they rent out easily. (Just do rent it out yourself and if you use an agency then just check what they do, control is much better then trust). With the rental incomes I rent a nice Poolhouse in East Pattaya. Near Mabprachan lake. (Rents are much lower in the Dark Side) Nice garden, nice pool and a dog to take care of, … so I know what to do and live a normal life. Two-three times a month I go to town to visit some bars, I think I enjoy it more because it isn’t a daily routine. I feel sad when I see people drinking and drinking all the time because they don’t have anything else to do. Always complain that you have no money, when he/she/x stays with you although you do not spend lots of money, then stay with he/she/x you did find the good one.
Very informative and very good advice buddy , I don’t like that you rate the girls by numbers , it’s very disrespectful to the ladies , but other than that , thanks , I have been a regular visitor since 2004 , about 20 times i think , I am hoping to retire here in a few year’s myself, keep the updates coming
IMO You really need a bit more than 50k although you may not spend it most months. I'd certainly want to get away from Pattaya/Jomtien every few months and a trip to Hua Hin/Bangkok/Chiang Mai/Islands etc, whilst not necessarily being expensive, will cost a bit more than Pattaya/Jomtien and that's a cost 'on top of' unless you find a magic way to avoid rent etc for that week or two.
I prefer to only go to the gogo bars maybe once or twice a week. But only if my stay in long. When I worked in thailand, i only went on Saturday night. The fact the tourist visas are short 45 days actually stops me from going for several months and only going once a week to the bars. I prefer to stay 6 months and party once a week if I could.
I don’t drink much in Pattaya maybe 4-5 beers per week. Often when I go to bars/clubs/agogos I still end up spending a lot of money because soda water or Coke Zero still costs 50-80 baht each at these places and I may buy lady drinks too. One night I spent 5K baht at an agogo and didn’t order a single beer or BF a girl. So it all depends on your activities.
@@upperlowerclass I stopped going to bars & drinking altogether years ago. 100% freelancers now. Haven't given a bar 1 baht in the past 15 years. Not judging though, I know many enjoy that scene (I used to). It's all good 🙂
The thing I like about your videos the most is you present the wisdom that people of retirement age should have gathered in their previous 60 years on the planet. I'm coming up on retirement in a few years so I watch a lot of these channels. It amazes me how many don't have the sense a person of their age should have by now. Instead of retiring you would think they were randy 20 year olds and party animals. I was on Submarines in my 20s and we would anchor off Pattaya for a week and hit the beach with boners and pockets full of money. We would drink all day everyday. Our motto was "pay double, tip heavy". The girls loved us! But that's youth huh. Come on you old fools, haven't you learned your lessons. Did you never figure out moderation? Because if you haven't no advice is going to save you. It's easy to get caught up in the Thailand fantasy you see on the RUclipss. It makes people forget they are retiring. Instead they start thinking they are starting over. You're going to find that perfect woman and live happily ever after. But you already lived the "Ever" and you're planning the "after". I'm still working hard at a job I like and being rewarded more than ever before. But I'm getting tired and it seems so repeatative, I just want to slow down and relax a little. Enjoy the fruits of decades of work and duty. I was married for 21 years to a good Italian girl and it was really good for most of those years. We raised 3 now successful children and I have a granddaughter. It was a good life but it was also a lot of work. It's a burden I gladly carried but now I want to put the burden down. I want to be free for a little adventure. I want to do all the things I never had time for because I was always working, always working. So when people tell me I could find love with a good girl in Thailand, they might be right. But what I see beyond the beauty is another 100 pound bag to carry. I don't want to carry another bag. I want to sit in the shade, in a comfortable chair. One of you youngsters can carry the burdens.
......its all Brexits fault, nothing to do with the £500+ billion Boris flushed down the toilet in less than 2 years eh? Who’d have thought that locking a country down and paying people to sit at home on their fat @ss would cause a ‘cost of living crisis’? And you blame Brexit ...🤣
A very well video, Daz, - and very helpfull, thank you very much. 👍 But, one very important cost I miss in your calculation: The life-insurence!! Without an insurance it's crazy to stay in Thailand or an other country - in my opinion. 😱 If you have an accident or will be very ill, what you do?? Yes, the costs by every person is different, but between 6.000 and 10.000 BHT per month is a serious calculation, correct Daz??? 😃
Daz, have you done a video of land ownership with or withoutna 99 year lease?? Land and house ownership, 51% owned by Thai partner and pitfalls on both subjects?? If not, could you do such or refer this on to somebody knowledgeable with Thai law and the pitfalls here ?? References to immigration, real estate ownership etc to give support to these problems facing farangs.
You say attractive company is expensive but, if you were paying for attractive company in your home country, it’s either non existent or much, much more expensive.
Thank you so much for your videos. Your videos have been enlightening. I am 60+ and considering retirement in Pattaya. Could you provide more information about medical treatment, doctors, hospitals, pharmacies, and medication? I appreciate all the videos you do on central Pattaya but my tastes (and age) leans more toward eastern Pattaya (Darkside). I am not looking for love but would certainly welcome companionship from a a woman over 30. More of a "friend with benefits" type of relationship. How would that work? Also, how exactly do you pay for things; when do you use cash and when do you use a credit card? What I gather from your videos is you don't want to carry too much cash, you don't want to use your credit/debit card in some instances, and coins are different than paper money. Thanks in advance.
U say u can't maintain the party life style because it could lead to a early death well would it be the same for the wild bar girl. I also think being a bar girl what they make they spend just as fast

It is hard to live comfortably in the U.S at $3,000/month unless you have a wife or a girlfriend who also have money.
I am happy and envy all of you there. Live your life while you get a chance before you die.
7:00 - just for comparison, a 9 or 10 girl in a Vietnamese ktv in Singapore makes usd 15k+ a month vs. $2k+ in Pattaya. what a great value for money.
Good information in this vlog
well i guess everyone is lying and you've cracked the code. All those flight reports must be fake too.
I think its busy. I think there is even more people now mid January than new years eve. Totally feels pre covid levels
Really good and down to earth pricing Daz. I always say 1200 quid as a comfort zone and the rest after that is lifestyle
Fantastic information for us first timers considering retirement in the Kingdom! Great channel, the very best !
Terrific advice Daz ,i watch all your videos always informative im retired now 74 and living here for 13 years i rent a house in Paniad Chang , and i average around 66000 bht per month , that may be helpful for some of your subscribers , cheers Daz regards Seagull.
66000 you must be living like a king dont even spend that in the west
Cheers
Yes please do!!! Like where would I stock my condo with cases of beer or liquor and how would I get it home without a car???
I went to pattaya in 2016. Loved it. Cant wait to return
Excellent 'down to earth' advice. Many thanks Daz !
"If you party every night in Pattaya, be prepared for a very short life!" Hahaha love it.
@@martincowie4277 Many thanks Martin. 👍

@@billvalentine4207 Quite possibly. I'd contact a legal professional to ensure she doesn't receive too much, or too little. Do you have a legal will and power of attorney in place? Perhaps worth a quick trip to either Bangkok or Pattaya to put something in place.
Great comment Richard
Blind leading the blind here. If you have to pay 40,000 baht per month to rent a woman, and an average looking woman at that, you're doing life wrong. Stay away from prostitutes' or ex-prostitutes, and don't be in relationships with girls who moved to Pattaya to find "love." There is no good reason to stay in a relationship with a woman long term if she does not actually love you. You wouldn't do it at home, don't do it here.
Awesome video! Thanks! I added $150 (as a Guesstimate) for Motorbike Rental to equal $1550/ Month,, Pretty good to what I'm paying!

@@michaapinski3684 Having only visited once before I never researched the Motorbikes,, Now i know from your comment what options I have,,, Thanks!
For a guy like you I would start in Phuket
Hahahaha Stop dreaming and be careful Solo hahahaha
Philippines not bad..especially ANGELES CITY

Regency for Expats (through jhoanne.baltonado@nowcompare.com... or, Kerese.Elliott@nowcompare.com)
is offering full health insurance for his age for $373 for the first 3 months... and then at $124 USD per month after those 3 months are completed ($2488 per year). However, they do not seem to offer insurance past the age of 70... so there is that! Maybe his current insurance offers health insurance for as long as he lives at very competitive prices.
Correct they will cover me up to 99 years of age on an increasing scale every 5 years with discount if I don’t claim in that year.
Thats correct. German Resistants needs also a health insurance. And it is a big point. 90.000 p.a. for 67 years old man is cheap. I checked for me 58 years old and they offer 70.000 up to 150.000 p.a.
Mmm, interesting. Think I'll budget my Thai retirement as approx:
30% Accommodation etc
30% Food/Drink/Groceries etc
10% Medical
30% Other (inc fun!)
Love the straight forward advice Daz!
Thanks for this info, Daz. My pension is almost three times the amount of that 1400 USD, and that's not counting Social Security when I have the age for that to kick in. I really need to get my plans together.

Happy New Year. Outstanding all around
Mmm, think I'll budget cB60k/mth:
1/3rd Food+, 1/3rd Fun+, 1/3rd Flat+
= B700/day Food+, B5k/wk Fun+
& B20k/mth Flat+
I am considering retiring in SE Asia, I would consider Jomtien, but probably not right in Pattaya.

If you have a bar girl around you long time, you've still got to pay the bar fine per day & pay them a daily fee, & then you've got to feed them & buy them drinks ( & probably some of their friends) The downside is that you've got them around you all the time!
Very helpful as always! Hope to see you when I get there!

I was in Thailand for the last month... my laundry was 250 baht for 2 weeks clothes - pay by the kg not per item!
That Cost of Living goes up by at least USD 200 for Medical Insurance once you are above 60 years old.
Hi Daz another great vid
Im here tilk 11 feb if you want a drink keep up tge good work mate 🍻
Hi Daz, I think you've forgotten to mention one very important cost: health care insurance which is private and goes up in price the older you get. As an example, I have a friends who's in his late 70's and his insurance would cost him a 400 to 500 euro per month.....that's easily 15k Thai Baht extra......And the older you get, the more likely you going to need medical help....
Yes - No. 😵💫 🥴 😵
The insurance is a very difficult point, by every person it is different.
It was funny to hear how you turned the page a little after the five minute point…
Great video brother thanks
I wonder if there rentals where a person could fish and maybe have a couple of people hired to help out with cooking and housekeeping.
The Best.....No BS....Thank you
I believe (IIRC) the Thai government has some guarantee for Baht 1m in all per account holder if a Thai bank goes bust (per account holder, not per account).
Great video Daz

I did buy two condos at good locations, they rent out easily. (Just do rent it out yourself and if you use an agency then just check what they do, control is much better then trust).
With the rental incomes I rent a nice Poolhouse in East Pattaya. Near Mabprachan lake. (Rents are much lower in the Dark Side)
Nice garden, nice pool and a dog to take care of, … so I know what to do and live a normal life. Maybe you don't like the numbers, but what other way can you get accurate info across ?
Great vid as usual - never invest in Thailand more than your comfortable with walking away from.
Excellent vid. Non-drinkers will also save a small fortune each month.
It's all good 🙂
wow need to jabs to get into Thailand again... i bet that's caught a few by surprise! lol
Hola Señor Daz!
Hehe...😏
“boners and pockets full of money” describes 99.9% of us soon as we step foot in Pattaya lol
Well said!
Sitting in the shade in a comfortable chair are for ladyboys. Go be a man and get your girl!
Thanks Daz. My big fear is, that the Baht becomes as strong or stronger than precovid so we loose 20-40% fin power
Good point.
GBP is struggling against every major currency and that won’t change anytime soon.
@@DiscoDrew Brexit was wrong. Boris and Cambridge Analytics fooled us a lot ...
......its all Brexits fault, nothing to do with the £500+ billion Boris flushed down the toilet in less than 2 years eh? Who’d have thought that locking a country down and paying people to sit at home on their fat @ss would cause a ‘cost of living crisis’? And you blame Brexit ...🤣

A very well video, Daz, - and very helpfull, thank you very much. 👍
But, one very important cost I miss in your calculation:
The life-insurence!!
Without an insurance it's crazy to stay in Thailand or an other country - in my opinion. 😱
If you have an accident or will be very ill, what you do??
Yes, the costs by every person is different, but between 6.000 and 10.000 BHT per month is a serious calculation, correct Daz??? 😃
@@baltazarbrick4521 Than you have very big luck, well, 👌
but an accident can happen quickly on the roads in Thailand!

You can easily find company now and then quite cheap on the Darkside.
Never use bank cards in Pattaya, other than a big supermarket, always use cash.
What kind of funds would you need saved to retire at 50 in Pathaya and live comfortably? Roughly?
Living expenses rent etc 30000bt

U say u can't maintain the party life style because it could lead to a early death well would it be the same for the wild bar girl. I also think being a bar girl what they make they spend just as fast
