I own a Forte SX 2010 sedan automatic. I cannot understand why test roads for the 2010 Forte SX are always reported as being 8.5 sec 0-60mph. Using manual mode my auto trans Forte SX outruns most cars I find at stoplights. That includes Civics Si, TCs, and Accuras TSX and many other supposedly fast cars. I have put to shame many Lexus i250 from standstills, taking them by more than a car length in an 1/8 of a mile. One Accura TSL was not able to outrun me going uphill. I think that he huge torque rating peaking at around 4000RPM is responsible for this car's impressive acceleration. So, why are these road tests so misleading? I have clocked mine at 6.9 sec 0-60mph with a 1/8 tank of fuel and tire pressure of 35 psi.
yep,i didn't know my sx was that fast until someday my dad was on the passenger seat and the acceleration sacred the shit out of him. I didn't really test mine with manual mode Because there were too many rain l,but i ve searched on some website and the “official” 0-60mh was 7.1 sec
Outrunning a civic si? Cap. Must of been a clapped SI. a tsx maybe but they don’t make much power, TC are definitely eh on the power. There’s no way you guys are gapping as much of the competition you claim
There must be something wrong. Motorweek tested the Kia Spectra awhile back and turned out an almost equal 0-60 time and a much faster quarter mile (16.1 vs. 16.6). One would think that, even though the Forte is slightly heavier, the 35 extra horses would do something besides use more gas.
+Basic Car Tips looks are descent but the overall reliability and longevity of this forte is BAD! They are very cheaply built. The inside counsel is horrible. everything moves. The civic will last 300k miles. I own this same 2011 kia forte koup sx.. cannot trade it in cause the depreciation is HORRIBLE.. it is a 2011 with average miles for the age and upside down 7k already! The ride is also horrible. It wont move in an inch of snow. My cell phone speaker is louder the factory stereo in it. They are nice to look at but very cheaply built and poor resale or trade in value.. BY PASS this car!
+Freddie Cordova I believe you're right.. It's so unfortunate that Kia/Hyundai have nice LOOKING cars but I feel that they are still behind the Japanese when it come to reliabiltiy/build quality. I still wouldn't get a civic or TC just due to them being hideousand too trendy. In the past I never had a civic give me trouble unless it had over 250K on the odometer, actually with all my Japanese cars I've NEVER had major issues below the 250K. I will admit it.. I've been tempted a couple of times but I will definitely pass and just stick with what has been tried and true. =)
Are you guys sure about reliability? I have a 2006 KIA Rio with 170k miles. It is still working fine, and has it's all original parts from the factory.
Truth is you can't believe what peoples say these days it best you try something yourself to see how it is. Too many different opinions and poor driver maintenance on vehicles these day. Every car is not meant for everyone.
@DeltaOpS07 also the suzuki SX4 sport/sportback/crossover have independent suspension all around.they all handle very well,SX4 actually beat civic but SX4 sport/sportsback against Si they have work to do.Kia is coming around.
ur right i agree with ya my koup does 7.3 secs it almost got to 6 stock however its because they didnt rev when they launch and also considering the weight of the driver, too bad its FWD I hope KIA will turn this to AWD and put performance tires, and a 2.0T engine in the genesis hood it would totally knock those competetors out on this cars way but why they didn't do that.
YES. thank you that's exactly what I think about these hondas and toyotas all over the place. How can you feel cool driving the same thing half the people at the traffic stop are driving?
@hondacivicsi09 $400=New springs and shocks. $1000 for an entire racing coilover kit. And thats not that much...considering that you have to spend $17k for the car. $1k in suspension components wont kill ya...and if you get a good dealership...they will probably help ya install them
@h0axbu5t0r are you serious? None of which know for their "sporty credentials?" I guess the fact that the tC, which has seen up to 450whp on a stock motor and 530whp with only pistons and rods as the only internals, has no known sportiness? And the Si which is 100hp/L and has held over 350whp on a high compression motor is not sporty enough? Doesn't take much to put those cars in Evo or Sti territory.
@kompleti The 2012 looks exactly the same as the 2011, and it only gained 3 hp. It gained some torque, finally, because the 2011's and below had almost no torque. It still doesn't compete. So no, the 2012 isn't much better at all. Of course the Si will beat it, but not by too much.
@nismofury Their drivers suck.. Look at Car And Driver's test of this car. They say 7.1 I own a Forte SX and Its definitely faster to 60 than 8.6. Usually does it in the low 7s
@unresolved777 btw, hate all you want on my comment, i dont care, facts are facts, and the facts say this is a poor attempt to compete with the Civic Si and tC, and with the new 2011 tC carrying 180hp and 173ft lbs tq, with Dual VVT-i vs the 05-10's VVT-i, this Koup will not compare with the tC. its a good start for Kia, a damn good start! but with those numbers for that power and lightness, its a poor car for competition.
Good lookin car. Would sell more if it didnt cost so much. 25.3mpg... needs improvement. This should be thousands less than any civic. That would kill civics in sales.
@h0axbu5t0r Of course they aren't sports cars, they are FWD. But to say people don't buy them for their "sporty credentials" would be false. People do buy said cars for their "sportyness". Otherwise they would just go out and buy any old car to get them from point A to point B. No one is claiming them to be full on sports cars though, so don't get the point in this argument. For the record....Kia Forte is SLOOOWWW...and would not even touch a tC or Si if it's getting these kind of #'s.
mmh...another class segment?,SX4 are good japanese cars and actually better than the normal civic.the kia forte sx has already complains about the manual transmission. Mazda 3?i like it but i see old women driving it,not cool.plus it has road noise, poor handling same even for speed3.i prefer SX4 sport,i dont want to drive a car driven by old women.Kia is coming around
lol, this made me laugh "173hp and 168 ft lbs tq, that out guns the Scion tC" yet the tC is faster in 0-60 and the 1/4 mile by a whole second, with the fastest time being 15.1 sec in a bone stock tC. and the tC has 5spd M/T and 4spd A/T. thats sad that the tC, which is heavier and has less power still beats the Koup. especially when their 6spd M/T did 16.6 secs in a 1/4! thats slower than a 4spd tC! and the 0-60 is slower than a 4spd tC as well! this wont beat a Civic Si.
unresolved777 I have a 2013 koup 2.0 6 speed and I tunes my 0-60 in about 6 seconds. Top speed with governator 122. I bet I’d get the 1/4 mike around 95mph in the high 14s
Until this day, I am still in love with this car and my goal is to get one as my first car!
Same
Me too,mate!

yep,i didn't know my sx was that fast until someday my dad was on the passenger seat and the acceleration sacred the shit out of him. I didn't really test mine with manual mode Because there were too many rain l,but i ve searched on some website and the “official” 0-60mh was 7.1 sec

I'd take this over a tc or a civic both are way too common on the road and comes with worse warranties.

You actually can drive this car in Forza 3 for X-Box 360!

the 2009-present Kia Forte is assembled in
China: Jiangsu
Kazakhstan: Ust-Kamenogorsk
South Korea: Hwaseong, Gyeonggi
Mine is the Canadian R spec in red love it.
YES. thank you that's exactly what I think about these hondas and toyotas all over the place. How can you feel cool driving the same thing half the people at the traffic stop are driving?
o to 60 mph in 8.6 seconds isnt right. It's more like 7 seconds or less.
Lol, they made a mistake with the engine cylinders, it's an inline 4, not inline 6.
I'd take this over an Si any day!
@plm54 You probably have an EX w/ the 2.0, We're talking about the SX with the 2.4
kia and hyundai are coming up. the more competition the better.
3:12 why isn’t nobody talking about this
(They put I6 by mistake instead of I4)
Wow, the handling is impressive for the price!
@hondacivicsi09 $400=New springs and shocks.
$1000 for an entire racing coilover kit.

make sure to google "kia forte forum and owners club" if you like or own the car.
Little red bottle-rocket? I like it.
@techdude6693 i own a Forte Koup too and is way above 8.6
I have it in titanium, sweet car.
Because Europe has the KIA cee'd. The cee'd and Forte would compete with each other in the same economy.
I have the 2.0L I get 39mpg on the highway.
3:11 inline 6 eh?
i'd choose this over a civic too but stuff like lights that flash to the beat isn't something to brag about

Man this car is HOT!!!! I'm Kia/Hyundai loyal!!! :D
please kia, 2.4l dohc, gdi, 200hp or 2.0l, 270hp turbo!!!!!!!!!
Hmm..I like it. Very sporty..Affordable.
@nismofury Their drivers suck.. Look at Car And Driver's test of this car. They say 7.1

This car looks way better lowered.
@ladyyuna2000 i agree
Beauitful and nice car
8.6sec??? This car does look sharp but subcompacts like a chevy sonic is faster and costs less and gets better mpgs...
I
rather have this than a Civic.
mmh...another class segment?,SX4 are good japanese cars and actually better than the normal civic.the kia forte sx has already complains about the manual transmission. lol, this made me laugh "173hp and 168 ft lbs tq, that out guns the Scion tC" yet the tC is faster in 0-60 and the 1/4 mile by a whole second, with the fastest time being 15.1 sec in a bone stock tC. and the tC has 5spd M/T and 4spd A/T. thats sad that the tC, which is heavier and has less power still beats the Koup. especially when their 6spd M/T did 16.6 secs in a 1/4! thats slower than a 4spd tC! and the 0-60 is slower than a 4spd tC as well! this wont beat a Civic Si.

@@MrBlaze256 lol proper shitbox
Rubbish. I own a 2016 SX that makes my old Mitsubishi Lancer ES feel like a tap on the shoulder! 😡
You’re a little late to the party my friend lol
Mmmm it's a hella reliable manual it's got engine space and it's easy to tune I would say it's decent but yeah I'm late to the party
Still no independent rear suspension.
