The US played in a 3-4-3 in the '21 Nations League Final against Mexico. So the team has had success with a back three. With the current group:
Striker: Pepi, Left Forward: Reyna, Right Forward: Pulisic, Left Wingback: Jedi, Right Wingback: McKennie, Central Midfield: Johnny, Central Midfield: Musah, Left CB: Richards, CB: Ream, Right CB: Robinson, GK Turner

Sure seems like if they are building up on the sides, the weak side wide player needs to invert to allow your strong midfield players to move up and down the pitch. The other option is to play a 4-3-3 and play your third center back on the right side, allowing Robinson license to run the sideline on the left.

Was coming to comment the same exact thing. Play Chris Richard’s on the right and you can play with three at the back in possession and four at the back out of possession. That would let Robinson and Weah stay up high and wide to create chances. On top of that you can still keep numbers in the midfield.

I'm just not at scared of Uruguay, especially considering when we played them in the send off series before the WC, I thought we were the better team and we match up well with them personnel wise, unlike Brazil and Argentina

FFS guys. Any lineup that does not include Gio is automatically wrong. Stop it He's one of our best players and has proven it in competitions, time and time again and you design the system around the best players not vice versa.

Weston definitely needs to be in midfield he contributes so much to the midfield to be wasted at rwb

After hearing McBrides roster thoughts any credibility he had was shot.

Sergino dest, gio rena and tyler Adams are must, must and must have in copa America.

Charlie Davies always has a horrible take… Reyna and Tyler in central parts of the top and bottom of a diamond midfield specifically. With Timo Weah and Jedi on the wings, more tucked in defense. CCV, Richards, and Weah in defense. ( Richards can sneak up a bit and tuck in as a stopper style player in offense and high pressing situations since he’s comfortable in a CDM position now) and then have Haji Pulisic and Sargent!

I really don't get why ppl are so focused on Shaq Moore considering there were no other alternatives as a backup when you look at the injuries to other, more favorable options and also that the Olympics away the most favorable bqck up option in Bryan Reynolds. Shaq Moore is nothing more than a squad player on this roster, someone there for practice purposes to fill out the squad. Same with Tim Tillman, so those 2 will NOT see the field, and tbh, Scally may not see the field.
Max, I actually think Weah plays RB, hes played it more frequently for Juve, and his ability to get up and down the wing from that position, coupled with his attacking qualities is the closest thing to what Dest provided. I also see Greg shifting Pulisic to the right where he plays for Milan, and puttjng Haji Wright on the left wing where he plays for Coventry. Greg also came out and said he and the staff see Haji as a winger, so I dont think he starts up top. Flo Balogun will be put up top again, in what may be his last opportunity for a while if he doesnt shine like we all know he can

Call me crazy, but I think Johnny Cardoso is a better player overall than Adams. Why are they putting McKenney instead of Cardoso at the six?

You're not crazy but Adams has done more in standing out while wearing the crest johnny never seems to be super involved almost like he just doesn't gel with the boys like the rest of them.

@@vicp1990That's because he has had very little opportunity. Kellyn Acosta, Roldan and freaking Jackson Yueill all of those guys were given way more opportunity to play in the midfield than Cardoso. Count his caps. Many of them are clean up or garbage minutes. He has not been given a legit shot to get comfortable yet. His trajectory is going up and up.
