What I usually do when I was using stones in the very beginning before I bought a workshop was I would wrap the handles with Walmart bags and then I would hold on to the blade that I had wrapped from the bottom of the handle up in Walmart bags so that none of the gunk would get onto the grip itself
I’ve noticed that once a blade is pretty sharp as long as you don’t roll it you only need to do like 10 Passovers on each side till it’s sharp again 😀🥷⚔️
Thanks for sharing your experience - it should certainly minimize the amount of mistakes I would make, trying all this stuff out on my own. I have already learned how to sharpen the WRONG way.. You'd think that would prevent me from making any more mistakes, but probably not.. I can appreciate the value of your efforts to clue the rest of us in, and I'm paying attention..
Diamond plate are good, don't own any, but you do have to be careful with them. Since Diamond is a hard material it can mess up a blade if you're not careful. But they do cut fast.
Then you have my lazy ass that just pulls out the work Sharp I ain't got time for no stones unless they are of the pipe variety lol 🤣 great video gargoyle

Tha works, personally I've never had a problem with that, I guess it's just the way I hold it when sharpening.

Absolutely, if you're edge is maintained, it really shouldn't take long.

Don't worry about making mistakes, I still do myself, it just takes practice and patience.
Good video 👍
Thank you
I’m watching this video while sharpening my leathermens tool right now 😄
Right on
What about Diamond plates? They are roughly the same size as kuromaku stones and, potentially a more budget option.
