The cards we were playing with in this game were all playtest proxies & is in an incredibly chill environment between friends. We assure you that Zack would never toss around real cards owned by others this way. :)
That emergence zone was *chef's kiss*. People thinking Cal was just doing nothing cant be more wrong. It wasnt Prosper most explosive game, but it showed still that massive card advantage and mana advantage he provides
Two things I took from this game: 1. I don't like how Zack threw opponent's cards to them after playing Mnemonic Betrayal, jesus, if anyone, even my friends, threw my LED like that, I'd be mad pissed, took me a while to have the courage to get me my first powerful reserved list card, it holds a special place for me. 2. I like Cal's approach, I am planning on doing an Anje, Maid of Dishonor cEDH deck and was planning on adding all those cards, but doing it instant speed have me a good thrill just watching it!
@@channelbana3421 sorry , but where was it specified that all cards were proxy? Only mention of proxy was that the tournament in Feb was proxy friendly.
That finisher was so satisfying to watch. Kinda wish Zack didn't toss Ryan's LED back like X-Men's Gambit though; don't care if the cards or proxy or not but I dislike anyone who treats my cards like ninja stars :P
Interested to hear why Ryan (Codie player) was willing to go down two cards on the Twister. Esp given that he kept 6 that weren't looking too valuable. Seems having his other two opponents have a fresh seven without a mulligan choice on turn 0 would have been a nice move, even though one had a Gemstone out. That aside, Mike (Tevesh/Thras player) likely could have exiled the Wooded Foothills and kept Pact in his deck for later. Obvs hindsight shows he didn't get Twister through, but I'd have risked it and expected to draw a land in the new 7. I would have also politicked Ryan like crazy to make sure the Twister went off, esp considering he started with only 6 cards
I've been telling my friend in my playgroup we need Emergence Zones! He runs a Xyris Wheels deck and I run a Niv mizzet Reborn 5-Color Blue-Heavy Storm deck both with Wrenn/Sixes and this card would work wonders! Great to see it MVP this game!
I never understood why some people are less than excited about other people handling their cards until I watched Zack toss cards across the table back to their owners.
Ok don’t get me wrong the gameplay is awesome but everytime he says how they decided who goes first and it’s always something goofy I can’t help but smile.
Can fierce guardianship be played from exile for its alternate cost? I guess my confusion is bc in breach lines you would have to pay the 3 for it from the gy, no?
Yes it can. Escape and Flashback give them specific costs (equal to their mana costs) that need to be paid to cast them from the graveyard, so you can't free-cast Fierce Guardianship off of Snapcaster or Underworld Breach. But Mnemonic Betrayal just says "you may cast them" so alternate costs work just fine.
How do you win with the doomsday pile in the prosper deck , i've been building a prosper list and i still havent figured out how do you manage your doomsday pile in order for you to win off that. Does anyone has any pointers , would be much appreciated ! And as always amazing game
Probably a pile that involves the Citadel. Either you have the citadel on the field or you have final fortune/citadel in hand, or a card in exile and Prosper on the field.. Citadel (if you have Final Fortune in hand) or Defense Grid (if you have the Citadel on the field), Dockside/Devil, Curio, Devil/Dockside, Protection. This last protection takes the second slond and is a Defense Grid if needed I think, but it sounds like that if no one countered the Citadel nor destroyed it with the grid on the stack, you're almost near victory. Alternatively, Citadel, Twinflame, Dualcaster, Protection. If you have enough mana and life, or mana and an opponent with 2/4 cards in hand (stupidly risky), either Ad Nauseam or Jeska's Will and 4 cards that will make you win the game.
The most common pile is: With prosper on the field, Final Fortune>Jeska's Will>Twinflame>Dualcaster Mage>Whatever. Go to end of turn, exile FF to Prosper, cast it inside of your own end step, draw Jeska's Will, cast it to crack Twinflame & Dualcaster, win. Without these specific cards, it can get a lot more finicky and is 1000% percent on what cards you have left.
Crazy finish, but I was really disappointed to see Tevesh Szat get SO CLOSE to using his ultimate, only for the game to end a turn prematurely. I've learned to not underestimate Emergence Zone again, getting Flash on EVERYTHING for an entire turn, including opponent's turns, is no joke!
love the games! It'd be really cool though if you guys could do less partner commanders to show off more of the regular ones. I dunno, just haven't seen kess in these games for a while
So while watching this I was so mad at Cal for not exiling Sol Ring with Tibalt! That wouldv'e caused Zack to lose since he couldn't pay for Pact of Negation. But I guess winning the game is a fine reason not to cheese out another player. Still would've been funny. :)
I got a friend who will proxy anything he doesn't want lost/stolen/damaged for reasons like this. Too many horror stories of some "spilled" drink or someone mishandling a card. Sucks cuz he and I both prefer to keep a deck as proxy-free as possible since we're proud to own the cards in our collection.
Kinda disappointed I didn’t get to see Codie go off, people talk about how good it is in cedh yet I can’t seem to find many cedh gameplay vids about it being so supposedly dominating. That was a very cool win by Prosper though.
I wish we had more good commanders i love watching this channel probably seen every cedh episode 10+ times its always the same few commanders but still enjoyable wish you guys would make an episode with a powerful yuriko deck all the videos im aware of its a budget deck or some old stuff that can't hang anymore. Also how do you stop players from cheating during online games we got some slight of hand dude at our lgs it sucks he always plays lord of the void turn 1 with kaalia.
Fantastic game! I do wonder why all the hate on Ryan? Seems like zack had some spite play there? Not bouncing Cal’s Commander when he was on top with the Cyclonic Rift instead of Ryan’s Commander who clearly was in a bad spot didn’t seem like the right play.
I believe that Zack bounced Ryan's commander because with Counterbalance gone & all the interaction blown on himself, there was no guaranteed way to stop Ryan from winning. To win, Ryan basically only needs to untap with Codie in play, 3 mana available to activate codie, and any 1 cost spell (of which the deck has tons of) in hand to threaten a win, which is always very scary! I had a lot of mana but was pretty much out of gas. Demonic Intent off the top was the only way I was anywhere near close to winning. :) - Cal
If Ryan's Dockside resolved he would have gotten a bunch of Treasures and popped off, possibly winning that turn. Best to do it when everybody is tapped low on mana and less likely to have a response.
@@kitsovereign4127 But the Dockside is not an issue if he did it on his turn, which comes before Ryan's turn anyways, right? That'S the part that throws me off.
@@Shinnizle It wasn't possible for me to win on my turn! I didn't have Ad Naus until I got it with the Diabolic Intent I exiled to Prosper at the end of that turn. :) - Cal
He draw the Bloodstained Mire for turn which gives him enough mana to play Codie and activate it next turn, which is all that deck wants to do, so he didn't want anyone else getting a full grip to interact with him. The Counterbalance messed him up though because he couldn't play his Mox on turn 3 to get mana to activate Codie. The Counterbalance wasn't on board when he made the decision to counter and his Dispel can't stop the Counterbalance, but it would be able to stop any other counterspell. The wheel would probably have improved his hand, but the point is it would improve the quality of his opponents hands too and he already had the deck's win condition in hand.
"In response, I win the game."
That will never NOT be satisfying.
If you like that you'd LOVE piloting Yeva 👀
