In this tutorial you'll learn how to make an origami Dragon Bookmark step by step.
Now you can have a cute little dragon sitting and guarding the page of your favorite book! This is a simplified version of my first Origami Dragon Bookmark ( • ORIGAMI DRAGON BOOKMAR... ).
In 2015 I’ve created the original non-bookmark versions of the Chibi Dragon and the Dragon v1 from a combination of crane and frog bases. But only in 2018, after the creation of the Crane Boomark, many of my viewers requested to do the same with the dragon - and it worked pretty well!

► MY PAPER: 20cm x 10cm Shadow Fold paper (www.origami-shop.com/fiche_ar...)
For this model you’ll need a rectangle with 2:1 ratio (half of a square). I recommend 20cm x 10cm.
It works best with a very thin paper, otherwise the layers of one of the sides of the dragon will get too thick and hard to fold or keep the shape. It does work with printer paper for test fold and learning, but don’t expect very good results from it.

I recommend using a *very thin* paper, otherwise the layers of one of the sides will get too thick. I'm not so sure a chibi dragon would be the name to describe what I got, dead rat seems fine...
I wish I had some origami now. I made it with "medium weight" drawing paper that I trimmed to size (2:1), and it got thicc really fast. The dragon's really cute though, and I'm proud of my first attempt.

It took me a while to understand what you did at 4:20 (not pun intended). As a suggestion, if I may, lighter colours which allow to see better the inner arists probably would help clumsy people like me. Anyway, great work!

I just made my first one... Actually finished folding it too. 4:25 I got super confused but pushed on. At one point I compared my current fold to yours in the video, and a piece of mine was 'missing'! Needless to say, I got super frustrated: 1) I have not done origami for years. 2) I never got far with any previously. 3) I am using some regular colored paper, so it got very... dense. But I restarted, even with all the folds, and actually finished it! (Not the best of folds overall, or looks, but I am happy with it.) He is a dense boy. XD I think I will give this one to my friend and begin another one at some point.
I love the detail of your videos! The pictures really help. After a complicated fold, I also appreciate any time when you show the different angles; it helps me know if I folded it right or not.

I noticed in the comments many others losing it here as well. There is one central shape --the only new crease in that section-- that you do not show. That is what everyone is getting hung up on. If you would do a short video posted under that one including a view of making that crease, it goes very smoothly. :)

@@honey3336 it is a bit hard to explain without pictures but when you open the paper like he did by putting his thumb in, you shouldn't open it all the way, just to the diagonal line of the square. I hope that makes some sense :/

Jo nakashima saludos desde Colombia 🇨🇴. Una pregunta en todas tus figuras que papel en especifico utilizas. Es que acá en mi ciudad por ningún lado encuentro de ese papel. Sólo puedo conseguir es uno que viene en Blok. ''Blok iris'' Se llama Y es muy malito para realizar figuras con muchos nobleses y se rompe luego. Aún así las figuras me quedan bien hechas pero. Como te digo queda rasgado en muchas partes
