Usually I find your videos very clear, even when the technical aspect of construction is challenging - but the "bring the contrasting color to the front" part is virtually incomprehensible. Would be so so helpful to see it broken down into slower parts, or shown from multiple angles as you do in other videos with confusing steps! I do appreciate your videos on the whole very much.
Showing it from behind would be incredibly helpful. I saw someone comment, do it from behind, so I had to visualise it with the tiny glimpse from the behind he gives. It is much easier from behind.
Incomprehensible?? Dude just watch the clip of it a few times over and pay attention to the creases… It’s just folding paper it’s not impossible just trial and error

To do that put your thumb there and add pressure (pushing it backwards). Then continue doing that all the way where the line is

I don't usually like to thumbs up on comments that directly trash the uploader, but this time, I really have to agree. Jo, some of the folds that you feature are really difficult, not to mention that your hands are in the way. Obviously you need hands to fold the paper, but it's so hard to follow your videos.
First time I tried this I just got horribly confused. The second time I realised this is actually quite a simple origami, but the instructions could be clearer. Generally though Jo's videos are really great. It helped to do this with tissue foil paper and a little origami scoring tool to poke the reserved corners and folds back into shape - really helpful!
Thank you thank you thank you for creating this adorable bookmark!!! I'm very fond of reading, I love cats and I started folding origami about a year and a half... so this is perfect for me! I had a lot of trouble in the folding back part, then with the ears and the narrowing the neck part... But with patience, I was finally able to make it!
3:36 I'm going to explain why this step is so difficult for everybody: 1° you turn the whole figure, while you are folding it at the same time 2°to top it off you do it fast being that it is the part that suddenly becomes more difficult, 3° besides it starts to look blurry and out of camera, no doubt, for an origami tutorial tentatively for beginners, (because otherwise I guess it wouldn't be on youtube unless it was to show off), it was super frustrating, but I didn't give up, I got really angry and wanted to destroy the universe because I wanted to make a cute kitty, but it was worth it. P.S.: I love the loog of your channel and you deserve all the success in the world, please, make tutorials designed to teach didactically.
Practice makes perfect. Don't give up,my folding is not perfect, but I progress. That is for any of my origamis. I often find them very hard, but at the end I finish my model. It would help a lot if you slowly went though each step, or used a bigger piece of paper, because your fingers were in the way for most of the video so now I have a half folded cat because I couldn't see what you were doing

All ya people talking how 03:36 is and I here got stuck at 02:16. I had to improvise so much but it kinda looks like a cat. I'm kinda proud since this is the first time I ever did some challenging origami. All I ever made were butterflys, since it's really easy.
he's a genious for making this up. I can't even keep up with the origami tutorial... I remember I made it when i was 9, and now i have no idea how I managed to do that. wow this guy is really talented...
I recommend if you speak in your videos it would make the tutorials easier? Just kinda explain where the creases should be made, what edges to bring where, which layer of the paper is being used, etc. I've watched a couple of videos but I'm just never quite able to understand them as well as I do with another origami youtuber that I watch. Just a suggestion!
Oh come on man why are you all complaining about him Let me tell you the reasons for why not to blame him ● the model is designed by him ● he have made a whole video on the tutorial ●he has also showed the diagram ●and the most important thing is that he is doing all this for free jo nakashima você é incrível você é um incrível artista de origami obrigado
essentially you inverse the last couple of folds you made, watch it a couple of times over if that helps. just remember to crease those folds really neatly and strongly and they'll inverse relatively easily.
I wanna know how to do open sinks on the tail.. Guess I'll have to experiment! Also, to those asking him to go slower: This tutorial is meant to help you, not hinder you. If you can't complete the model, I suggest you practice on some simpler pre-requisites, preferably ones with similar folds. I can testify that this model is ABSOLUTELY foldable from this tutorial. Get some practice on easier models, make use of the diagrams, and don't give up.
Nice! I've never done any origami before but I was able to make this. I had to watch a couple parts a few times, but I got it. The next one will be easier.
Had a really hard time folding that colour from the back to the front but once I accidentally managed to put one side in the right place it worked. Now I've done this whole thing and just found out that I either missed a step completely or I messed up. The cat head is stuck to the body tightly with no way to nicely unfold it. I've folded dinosaurs, birds, bugs, dogs, all kinds of flowers, and this flat cat just got the better of me...
Hi! I have trouble making the part that begins on minute 3:40. I have tried several times and I still cannot do this part. Could you please do it slower? Perhaps this way I can do it. Thanks alot!
No I couldn't do it either. I bought origami paper it's very thin. Tears easily. I've tried this about 7 times. I can't do it at 3:31 when it says wrap around from behind. It doesn't make sense. I can't follow him. He should make better videos. It's not you. I've made a lot of origami. I'm leaving this video and giving up it's too frustrated. Every time I get to 3:31 and wrap around from behind my paper tears when I try.
OMGG I DID IT!! Guyss... at 3:7 or 4:00 he basically does the same as he did on the left side.I managed to do good on that left side so what i did was to ignore his confusing hand gesture and i unfolded my paper on the left side (not all the way) just to see where the creases were and i just copied the fold on the right side like a mirror . So if on the left side that ''square' had a horizontal/diagonal crease i just folded on the same line on the right side and so on ! it may sound complicated but i suggest giving it a try ! just analyze the left side and figure out what you did there!! p.s. i'm definitely not a expert in origami so don't worry :))
Achei suuper difícil a parte em 3:36, para entender o que fazer e a orelha também, e depois a parte de esconder os ombrinhos também... Mas consegui!! Ameei!!
It is true that the step at 3:36 is rather difficult. But I would say it’s doable if your intermediate. You just need to play that part over, several times, in 0.25x speed. Analyse it, till you understand. Good luck to you if you are still struggling!
Ugh! I am stuck on just one stupid impossible part, than all the other one would be a piece of cake. Young man/women, u are helping me do this at my house.
This was my first origami since I was a kid so, there is no bigger noob than me. It was tricky but I still managed to finish this bookmark. I like the result although I did it on printer's paper :)
I basically stopped looking at the video at the 9 min mark when my paper became too full of creases that is was difficult to follow what you were doing. For the ears I did my own interpretation, but overall it went pretty well for my first go!
I FINALLY got the color change part when I stopped trying to mimic his moves. I looked at what the goal was, then stopped following his video. This was after watching it over & over and failing over & over.

Just kinda explain where the creases should be made, what edges to bring where, which layer of the paper is being used, etc. I've watched a couple of videos but I'm just never quite able to understand them as well as I do with another origami youtuber that I watch. Just a suggestion!
Very confusing sometimes your hand covers the whole camera i barely see anything
@marvel2326 it's a kanji dictionary
I make a lot of complex origami and this was too hard to do even with all of the stuff I make daily.
Oh come on man why are you all complaining about him
Let me tell you the reasons for why not to blame him
● the model is designed by him
● he have made a whole video on the tutorial
●he has also showed the diagram
●and the most important thing is that he is doing all this for free
jo nakashima você é incrível você é um incrível artista de origami obrigado
obrigado pelo apoio!
How does it work on 3.49?? Makes no sense. A little more information... Maybe some steps... Seriously confusing
essentially you inverse the last couple of folds you made, watch it a couple of times over if that helps. just remember to crease those folds really neatly and strongly and they'll inverse relatively easily.
:
finishing this was so rewarding!! I almost rage quitted at 3:47, but i'm glad i didn't give up! Great work, man!
fix your angles. You're fingers get in the way a lot and the camera loses focus. Makes certain folds very difficult to understand.
I wanna know how to do open sinks on the tail.. Guess I'll have to experiment!
Also, to those asking him to go slower:
This tutorial is meant to help you, not hinder you. If you can't complete the model, I suggest you practice on some simpler pre-requisites, preferably ones with similar folds. I can testify that this model is ABSOLUTELY foldable from this tutorial. Get some practice on easier models, make use of the diagrams, and don't give up.
Where can I purchase this quality paper?
origami-shop (there is a link on the video description)
Yes !! Jonakashima

+Harison Igor Artes Se quiser posso traduzir, quer?
***** Não, desculpa meu nivel de "Origamista" é bem baixo é tipo nível 1 kkkkk😅
Nice! I've never done any origami before but I was able to make this. I had to watch a couple parts a few times, but I got it. The next one will be easier.
Ok so I'm at 4:00 and what is he telling me to do because I have tried like 15 times and I don't know what I'm doing wrong
Purple Swablu maybe i he was in foucus and not out of shot!
+Purple Swablu same here!!!!! I've tried 30 times tanks to that i accidentally unfolded everything!
I still have my unfinished cat origami after 5 months so if someone can explain I can finish it lol.
+Purple Swablu what I can tell you (and for what I understand) is that he's folding to the front side
it may be hard but if you look closely you could do it

Yay. Thank you so much for these insteuctions. My first one was crumpled a bit and wrinkled, but the second time I did it, it was so much better.
I really don't get the wrap around a layer.
I gat it
Had a really hard time folding that colour from the back to the front but once I accidentally managed to put one side in the right place it worked.
Thanks alot!
i think, the video-speed is ok, i can make it after seen the step
Same! I am having trouble at 3:49 please make it slower or some other way please. Thank you;)
You can change the video-speed pressing on the settings (second icon on the right of the bottom of the screen).
Every time I get to 3:31 and wrap around from behind my paper tears when I try.
it gave me a hard time at first too, try enumirating the 3 folds that appear, it helped me a lot and it worked :)
Gamer changer. Onwards! Thanks for the tip!
*How the heck you did the freaking ears!!!!*
*I'm so confused*
(*dies*)
If you get stuck at 3:50 you can hold the part that is not ment to be hold and make an inner crese if you get that
Clicked on an origami tutorial video, found some rocket science mechanism here :|
Thank you for sharing this!!
I wrote eyes, mouth and wiskers on it and now I have cute cats for my books :)
i dont get it in 3:37😢😢😢
Achei suuper difícil a parte em 3:36, para entender o que fazer e a orelha também, e depois a parte de esconder os ombrinhos também... Mas consegui!! Ameei!!
I can't finish this origami, all about that fu**** fold at 3:40! And in love cats so much...:(
First masterpiece from you
3:47 is impossible!!
Ericat what? This is easy. Try making something like his devil dragon v2
It is true that the step at 3:36 is rather difficult. But I would say it’s doable if your intermediate. You just need to play that part over, several times, in 0.25x speed. Analyse it, till you understand. Good luck to you if you are still struggling!
This isn't simple. AT ALL!
Ugh! I am stuck on just one stupid impossible part, than all the other one would be a piece of cake. Young man/women, u are helping me do this at my house.
What the hello this is so frickin confusing
This was my first origami since I was a kid so, there is no bigger noob than me. It was tricky but I still managed to finish this bookmark. I like the result although I did it on printer's paper :)
this made me so mad when i did it lol.
@coam2 no problem
@Mist3030 sorry, I don't sell origami... but this one is easy to make
Mmm, best bookmark design ever!.
@CrazyEnora231 I added a link on the video description
@OrikamiMaster yes, go ahead
Please post it as a video response so I can see it ;)
Thank you very much! It took me two tries to make a decent neko bookmark but it works! Now I have my own cute neko as a bookmark. =]
I think I just died of cuteness xWx I'm defiantly going to have a crack at this!
if you check the first video response around 3:50-4:00 he goes through it slower and is able to show it in a little more detail
@Supergurl829 yes, and we live on the same city
I basically stopped looking at the video at the 9 min mark when my paper became too full of creases that is was difficult to follow what you were doing. For the ears I did my own interpretation, but overall it went pretty well for my first go!
unbelivable, I wanted to open youtube to see if you have a video for a bookmark and guess what the first vid was in my subsciption box :D
I finally got it after re-watching 3:50 countless of times!!!! Thank you so much :)
I FINALLY got the color change part when I stopped trying to mimic his moves. I looked at what the goal was, then stopped following his video. This was after watching it over & over and failing over & over.
The Origami Neko bookmark is sooooooooo Kawai! I want to make one, too! Origato Gozaimasu for sharing your video!
