- Amazon announced Thursday it has officially closed the deal to buy the home security device company, Ring. It's reportedly a billion-dollar acquisition, making it one of Amazon's biggest purchases. Ring, founded in 2013, has more than three million users, but is best known as a smart doorbell maker. The device is a Wi-Fi-enabled doorbell that streams live audio and HD video. CEO and chief inventor Jamie Siminoff joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss what sparked the idea for the doorbell in the first place and the company's core mission.

You gotta love the guy for not throwing a shade on sharks rejecting him but instead thanking them for the opportunity. Life lesson right there :) Way to go Jamie!!!!!!
It's the difference between those who succeed and those who don't.
Being there in sharks and out with or without a deal is much more better than paying for Billboards, TV ads etc. So why he or anyone will hate if they rejected.?
Nothing wrong with throwing shade on arrogant people.
You can’t say that’s true. Plenty that are successful will throw shade
He for sure threw shade in a slick way. He said they gave him exposure and I quote “as a volunteer job and didn’t take any money.” Meaning that since he never got a deal he owes them nothing for the international exposure. He even went back on as a guest shark on the show
Makes sense for Amazon to buy ring. Most ads for ring is to stop people from taking your Amazon packages
Glad I found a logical answer for Amazon buying the Ring
Very symbiotic aquisition, ring also benefits working under Amazon .
spot on comment
But what if you order a Ring doorbell from Amazon only to have that get stolen as well?
@@troopcaptain 😂😂
This guy seems really friendly , I wish him well
We'll hes product is sold all around the world and he's also a billon dollers richer so I'm pretty sure your wish came true
With a billion on his pocket i guess he is well
I think he's coming back as a guest shark in season 10
And He did..
@@masterstouch7 which season and episode?
@@nadeemshaikh7863 ss10 ep 1
Now he is a shark
im glad he aint sell out
This guy knows to appreciate everything that comes to him
there is nothing better than rejection to be a true winner
Why
@@crazypato3752Because you can only be a true winner once you know what it feels like to lose.
Now he’s richer than most the sharks 😂
Not really
@@Kendones look up their networth of the sharks, he made like 1.2 or 1.3 billion from ring
@@Kendones he is richer than all of them except cuban
@@Xerx. that’s what it sold for but that not what he himself actually got. His net worth is under 500mil
@@yamkaw346 before taxes lol he didn't just get that money without paying uncle sam first
There have been people in our neighborhood stealing items out of people yards, someone stole another neighbors car but he was caught on camera...so this is really a great product. I have both the ring bell and the flood lights.
4 dislike on this video, probably from all the sharks but Kevin. Kevin cry’s himself to sleep in his mansion lmaooo
😂😂😂😂
Gardening startup? This guy is so intriguing. Please do a story on him. I'd like to know more about him and his inventions.
I learned that woman is rather proud of her WASHINGTON home....
Lmao 😂 I thought the exact same thing
They thought he was a chump. A billion dollars later they regret sleeping on him. I'm happy for him.
Honestly that’s a simple yet brilliant idea . I don’t understand why people doubt this .
Me either. I'd invest if I had the dough. He skyrocketed to the billionaire club more than some of the sharks net worth I think.
*Easy to install **Newest.Technology** and set up.*
700K for 10% was pretty high at that time.
you gotta see the vision dawg
He knew the potential of his company and rejected the deal, look where he is now. Always believe in yourself.
He was offered a little more than that. And for the worse.
Nope. This was the first of its kind and the sharks just can't relate living in 24/7 secured mansions. Even if they owned 5% after stock generation (or whatever the actual term is) of the company, they would've made 50 mil from the sale.
Inspiring 🙏
This is the definition of believe in yourself
Keeping it real 👍 Well done, mate ❤
Of course he's gonna make it! Socially he's very intelligent and charismatic. Also, he definitely knows his craft!
A doorbell and security camera got frisky in his garage...then came THE RING
Anand R omg too funny. Made my evening. 😄
Thats funny
Like the buyouts that made some of the Sharks wealthy, you have to wonder about the accounting and finance work that reached the price paid for Ring. We need to empower the shareholders with more power to halt overpaying for acquisitions.
Great guy, great service. deserves the success.
A billion dollars on one deal is just insane. Many of the best business people on Earth could make big deals for 40 years and not even come close to that number. He basically has enough money to buy a new Ferrari every day for the rest of his life
Could have swore I mentioned this to someone at Starbucks in 2011. Wait a minute.....this guy!
😆😆
No diss but the lil kid from UP is all grown up
@@CarlosCruz-uy6cd Rude.
The best item ever invented.
why does she have to say "We have one of these in our Washington home" no cares where your home is or how many homes you have, just say " we use the Ring in our home." thats it.
Jealous much!!!
I thought the same thing. Lol
She just needed to reconfirm her status
Saying home was enough. He is now worth $300 million.
because she's a Leftist and Leftists need to always let people know how awesome they are one way or another.
Love everything about his story❤❤❤
The way the sharks fcked up on this one
NEVER EVER SLEEP ON THE LIL GUY....EVER!!!
Why are there dislikes on this video? He created his own product then sold it for 1 billion to Amazon is amazing yet people are hating and jealous of him.
Dislikes are from sharks and family..
Is he a good person? Does he sell candy to cats at inflated prices? Is he a notorious goldfish molester? Who knows.
Do your own research.
We're busy.
@@EntireStaff lol it’s funny imagining the sharks going out of their way to go on RUclips and get their family to dislike this video despite having hundreds of millions of dollars
@@EntireStaff 😆
Amazing device for Home security
Such a simple yet effective idea
Very inspiring.
Bet they use it with delivery..no more free packages!
This guy had confidence in his product then and he has it now.
I love my ring bell, I do feel safer with it.
Now we need someone to invent something similar but in cars that way less cars getting broken into or stolen
3:31 great answer 😂
What if they steal the package your doorbell is delivered in! 😂🤔
Thats when package ring comes in lol
thats why i tell them put it on the roof
😂
Wow!
Wow, excellent idea!
Best invention technology in 2010's
Cool!
I know him I am friend with his friend Ollie it was natuket.
Never give up!
02:19 we have one of these in our 'washington home'. humble brag why don't ya lol!
This is quality
Brilliant
I use blink because they have wireless cameras also
I also use blink
The newest shark in the tank
Bro went through a whole Dhar Mann episode 😭😭😭
jamie siminoff appear in shark tank 3 time 1 time as an entrepreneur and 2 time as investor
I love my ring door bell in thr uk wouldn't be with out it best thing I spent my money on 😊
That was the best invention ever made 😊
Kevin O’leary been punching air eversince🤣
Never give up........
hate how Mr. Wonderful had the audacity to be all friendly with Jamie when he came back as a shark when Mr. Wonderful said Jamie was dead to him the first appearance.
Haha didn't catch that. He makes more than wonderful Kevin now.
Steve jobs wasn’t In garage , the real inventor was in a garage from whom Steve jobs took the invention , I mean peoples want to change history !!!!
Best invention ever
The ring has been used in investigations ..... genius!
Pro canned response about privacy and data issues right after Facebook scandal :/
Dude should go on the show as one of the 🦈 s.
I think he did
Plus ring doorbells have played just a major roll in child abduction and major crimes in neighborhoods. The doorbell catches the plates of a car or sometimes leads to the last time a missing person was seen
He didn't answer how ring was going to protect your privacy
It wasnt steve jobs in a garage so much as steve wozniak in a garage.
Shark tank is bighting thier tongue right now 😂😂
The publicity from that show can help better than an investment from the sharks on the show.
I wish I was half as positive as he is
You should come to Coventry - billion dollars to be made
My ring is so delayed that I barely use it. The first one I had my crazy ex came over, snuck up on it and knocked it off my house without it catching her on video. My Blink cameras are way better than my Ring
Americans are so innovative
We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.
" I Couldn't Hear The Door Bell "
Jamie Siminoff
I know. Love that that invention derived from an idea for something else
Sorry shark tank.
Jamie siminoff and Jeff bezos are badass rich person
All the sharks are punching the air
Sharks just want some money. Bussines core isn't all about the money
They crush ADT lol
I like him but he lost me at privacy. Well, Amazon lost me at privacy.
No way..... Eufy all the way.... Way better product cheaper
Wife ❤️ was key
And now they are ripping consumers off with there online solution
No mention of Richard Branson?
Samantha Bidgood for real ?? He gave him his chance 🤣
I've found out that Shaq had invested in Jaime's invention, with an 10% equity at stake. That's 100 million, when it was bought by Amazon for the 1 billion dollar deal. Good move in Shaq's and excellent move on Jaime's.
sharks are regretting now
kevin didnt rject
Technically he did. Jamie made him a counter offer and Kevin rejected his counter deal
if Bezos joins Shark Tank he would get that deal waaaay cheaper !! 🤣
exploiting fearr until the . end off time
i’m happy for this guy but i’d never buy a ring. not a fan of subscriptions. i still have skybell, and if that goes under, i’ll get a Eufy.
1984
one dislike probably from Mark
They raised the cost to 20/month to see history. Total ripoff.
Hear how pretentious red dress was when she said "We have one in our *Washington* home..."
Now the True Shark is Jeff Bezos
Thank ring for helping us ring security camera footage surveillance can capture thief stealing amazon order
👩👦🤳
Mf genius, the shark tank mf made a huge fuking mistake for not accepting the deal
The neighborhoods app is garbage though just saying
I have ring, they’re crap.
SeanScot36 yeah ok
Mr Wonderful is not so wonderful!
Steeve jobs did not invent the technology on the iphone he just put all the technolgy in one phone. Same as this gut puting all the technology in as one item.
