    Markus, this is brilliant. Exactly what I need to help organise a hybrid meeting. So clearly explained. Thank you so much. It's been doing my head in for days (and nights) trying to work out what devices I need and how they connect and what they need to be pointed to. So grateful.

      Excellent! I hope the meeting goes well!

    Hi Markus I found your channel from Sean Cannell's video. I can't hear this good info enough times. Sometimes I need to hear it from different people before i really get it. Good luck!

      Welcome to the channel! I always get massive value from watching Sean's videos, and I'm happy I could be a part of the call!

    More great tips! Thank you! I'm nervous about doing the hybrid meeting (want everyone to feel included, and not have technical issues) but it will be vital for our membership to do it, when it is safe to go back to in person. Hoping someone in my club will step up to be the technical advisor and it not have to be me! I know your videos will help us be prepared when the time comes.

    •  4 года назад

      When I started doing hybrid meetings, I told our members that I'll need ten meetings worth of practice to get it right. It turned out to be an accurate estimate!

    Can u describe how to screen share media in both aspects of the hybrid meeting

    •  4 года назад

      If you have a projector in the room, it's as simple as sharing it on the laptop. It will be shown on the projector and the online meeting as well. Just make sure whatever you're sharing is easily visible even from the back of the room.

    Hi Markus, thank you for this video it is very helpful. I don't seem to be able to connect my smartphone by starting a meeting, because Zoom makes me end the meeting on the other device. Am I missing a step? Thanks!

    •  4 года назад

      For me it works. Yes it logs me out on the laptop. But it doesn't end the meeting.

  • @toledoindiegirl
    @toledoindiegirl 3 года назад +1

    Thanks for the great info! One question-why do you need to start the meeting from the smartphone instead of just starting from the laptop?

    •  3 года назад

      You should start the meeting from the laptop. But then when you join the same meeting from the phone, you can do it in two different ways. Either click start which is easier, or join as a guest. The latte is harder because you have to input the meeting ID and password.

    • @toledoindiegirl
      @toledoindiegirl 3 года назад +1

      @ thank you! I was curious as to why you start the meeting from the phone though? Is this so that the phone camera is the dominant camera operating during the meeting?

    •  3 года назад

      @@toledoindiegirl The only reason is that it's easier than other methods of joining the meeting. If there was a Join button, I'd use that.

    Hi Markus, Awesome channel! How do you prevent looping in a hybrid meeting with the sound echoing? Thanks

    •  3 года назад

      The easiest way I've found is to disconnect the audio on all devices but one. Like this: ruclips.net/video/7tFPAEmGijM/видео.html

    Thanks for doing all of these videos. My Toastmasters club is in the United States and is also looking into doing hybrid meetings using Zoom. I'm impressed with what you have done here, and I have a few follow-up questions.
    (1) How do you handle the host functions if you have only one laptop that is in the front of the room? For example, accepting people from the waiting room, muting participants, and conducting polls, which you need to do during the meeting. Don't you get in the way of the laptop and affect what you're displaying with your projector? Should you have a second laptop for that?
    (2) All of the reasonably priced microphones that we have seen have very limited ranges for picking up sound. Can your Boya pick up sound from both the person at the front of the room (e.g., speaker, Toastmaster of the Day) and people in the audience (e.g., functionaries giving ah counter, grammarian, and timing reports)? How big is your meeting room, and how many people do you usually have in the room?
    (3) Are you using a Zoom Pro plan only, or do you need additional add-ons as well?

    •  4 года назад

      Hi Robyn, and thanks for watching! Yes we do use the Zoom Pro license, but without any add-ons. For the mic, I'm actually working on a separate video about audio, including a conference mic. But the short answer is that currently everyone has to walk to the stage to speak. And finally, for question 1, tune in on Thursday to this live stream I'm doing specifically about Toastmasters hybrid meetings! ruclips.net/video/sVpHHxfYWCY/видео.html

      Thanks for your quick reply. I saw your notice about your live session in your email and already put it on my calendar. I’m looking forward to it.
      Microphones seem to be the most challenging part, so I am glad you will do a video about it.
      If you’re talking about Toastmasters, we are also wondering how best to show the timing lights in a hybrid meeting. In an all-Zoom meeting, we use virtual backgrounds with the different backgrounds, but it might be tricky when using them in the room.

    •  4 года назад

      @@robynseaton5872 I'll definitely talk about timing signals on the live stream! But the short answer is to point a second camera at the timer.

    Markus, Audio question! How to avoid echo? Which mics are hot?

    •  4 года назад +1

      In my setup the only mic that's on is the lav mic on the stand. I'll do another video or two about audio specifically very soon.

    That said, it was quite a few calls to action there, buddy...

    Marcus how to set up a hybrid meeting where a speaker and music runs at the same time

    •  2 года назад

      Do you mean there's live music in the room and someone speaks at the same time? Or do you mean music playback plus someone speaking? Or do you mean the music and the speaking is coming from the online participants?

    Great video. One thing to remember is if you're using two devices in the same room make sure you don't join with audio with one device (the phone your setup) otherwise you'll get feedback

    •  4 года назад +1

      That's absolutely correct Matthew! And funnily enough, I had that point in my video script, but forgot to actually record it. Making videos is hard. 8-)

    Hi, I have a question, when I join from a different device it logs me off from the other device. Will this affect the setup when trying to enter using the phone?

    •  3 года назад +1

      It's a weird quirk, but in my experience it does not affect the meeting in progress. For the next meeting you might just have to sign in.

  • @irah6250
    @irah6250 3 года назад

    Hi Markus- thanks so much. But one problem: previously I'd run several 90 min meetings in a row by sharing a 2nd cheap camera (Logitech USB video cam set on a little tripod swivel) pointing out to show the in-house attendees, with no issues. To do that I was using Zoom, and in the Advance tab of Share screen, I shared a 2nd camera. So the view of the meeting was the large view and the zoom attendees were tiled in on the top or right. Yesterday I tried using the phone as you recommended, on a nice tripod. I was super excited to use the phone because it's video capability is much greater than the cheap video cam but the phone video itself froze 6-7 times and I had to stop share and then restart each time. This was not Zoom freezing, it was the new Samsung cell on AT&T network, but it's deep in a building. I'm afraid it is back to the video cam next time. Comments? PS Does Zoom have any way to get higher res video's if we record a video as a class or promotion? They appear low res if you shoot a music video etc... I am Zoom admin for a non-profit.

    •  3 года назад

      I would connect the phone to wifi instead of cellular data. And unfortunately Zoom recording is super unreliable when it comes to quality. I usually record with OBS and directly on my camera.
