a few things i forgot! [this will be updated when i remember even more...] 1. Oxford club nights start soooo early! it's definitely something strange to get used to. people start pre'ing at around 9pm and then get to the club for 10:30/11pm... (i know!!) and don't be surprised when you see the club starting to empty around 2am 2. if you have a lower household income, Oxford have Oxford Bursaries which are UNI-WIDE, not dependant on your college and FREE MONEY!! you might've been asked by Student Finance to share your info with your uni so that they can see if you're eligible. there's a sliding scale - you can see it here: www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate/fees-and-funding/oxford-support?wssl=1 3. getting a bike is NOT necessary in Oxford - i went 2 full years without getting one and only got one in my third year because i lived out in a house. unless you live quite far out (we're looking at you St Hugh's), or your department/labs are far away, then i'd recommend getting one. make sure you have a helmet as it can be dangerous!! also be aware that you can buy cheap second hand bikes once you arrive (that's what i did) 4. formal clothing - guys just bring a suit, girls bring at least 1 formal dress! i'm selling a bunch of my stuff over on instagram @violahelen_ (highlight 'clothing sale') which will be updated over the next 2 weeks 5. Oxford weeks start on a Sunday - which is weird to get used to, especially because we don't have any lectures/classes etc. 6. some people might know this already but i definitely didn't... the bits of reading on your reading list marked with an asterisk (*) are the essential readings and you should prioritise them! it took me while to realise that
Could you do a video on what to pack for Oxford as a fresher, and tips for moving in and out of college so often throughout the year? Like how do you do it, where do you store all your stuff, etc. :)
omg such a range of places, but i also don't like buying brand new every time bc money & environment!! i'm actually selling quite a few of my dresses/outfits from formals, balls and other events on my instagram account (it's in a highlight 'clothes sale') @violahelen_ xx
Hello! Love your video. I am studying abroad at Oxford this year and was curious as to how the atmosphere is for American international students? Do you have any suggestions for integrating yourself or making friends?
Hi. Im in an abusive family so i get no support from my family. I decided to work in australia during my gap year and i want to apply to oxford. But i can’t afford it do you have any tips,
Annabelle Annabelle in my first year I went out twice a week (if not more!), second year about once a week & third year rarely but mainly bc I stopped enjoying it. it’s all down to personal preference x
Loved this video! Oxford looks amazing and this was really interesting. I've just subbed to you and can't wait to see more from you xo. Also, just uploaded a Uni tips video if anyone wants to check it out!

Hi, Viola! Where do you usually buy your formal dresses from and how many dresses do freshers need to pack?
omg such a range of places, but i also don't like buying brand new every time bc money & environment!! i'm actually selling quite a few of my dresses/outfits from formals, balls and other events on my instagram account (it's in a highlight 'clothes sale') @violahelen_ xx
oooh i'd say bring maybe 2-3 formal dresses just in case if you have them but otherwise definitely 1!
Another great video to positively procrastinate to before studying

All of Oxford will judge me when somebody comes round for tea and they get given a cuppa 'builder's brew' Yorkshire Tea 😂
I’m starting PPE in Somerville this October but I have not received anything at all through the mail? Do you think I should ask my college by email?
ivyofskies yes! or check on your college website in case they have all of the resources there instead of sending it to you xx
i'm 10 years old but this will be very helpful in the future i guess XD
Uhmmm, sorry but....weird?
Could you make a video of what to pack??🤗
Just applied to new college! Would you recommend it?
