My dad died 2 years ago. I was told at 1 am. I asked god for peace to sleep. I didnt sleep that night. But I heard a loud breath in my ear, and the air circulated above me, whenever my door was opened it continues, but stopped when I left the room. God told me he was there, gave me peace beyond what I asked.
James 1:2 says, “Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials,” but how many of us TRULY do this? After David heard Goliath’s vain boast against God, he looked at him thinking you’re going down! How many of us face OUR trials in the same way?
Today was definitely not a good day for me. I have anxiety induced seizures. I had a total of 7 today. I still went to my classes for college. I made it through the day because of God’s grace. I have amazing friends who support me despite my illnesses, I have a service dog that detected every seizure I had and prevented others, I have teachers who understand. I am thankful for God’s love.
I respect Josh as an artist and I believe his songs touch people's lives.... with that said unfortunately you can see the religious teaching of the viscous cycle that a Christian goes through of the ups and downs believing they are some lost sinner saved until they screw up again and Christian songs have a way of teaching that its NOT finished . The best example I can think of is 1 of my favorite songs by DC Talk "In The Light"...... that chorus sung in so many churches is so PAST TENSE. Because I AM IN THE LIGHT I DO SHINE LIKE THE STARS and HE IS MY LIFE AND SALVATION so WHY am I asking to be these things when I already AM....... When I left organized religion was when I started believing who I was in Christ, knowing my place as a child of God and joint heir to the throne. The legalistic mind set had me trapped in a cycle of doubt and condemnation. Understanding who I was under Grace set me free and have found life, freedom and joy I had lost in the church. I hope he can write some tunes about the finished work.🙂❤
I found the same things in church, and stopped going a few years ago. I heard this song again today after many years, and to me it actually speaks to the completion, we’re just not abiding in it. We struggle within our circumstances, instead of seeing that when we just accept and abide in the knowing of who we are, the struggle goes away!

Have you heard God Only Knows by For King and Country. I think you'll find it helpful. You know, my devoted wife died in December of 2016 so I've gone through hard times. And yet, I try to deal with my problems by providing encouragement for others. You might also want to listen to Help Me Find It by Sidewalk Prophets. I'm typing this with a computer that has speech software. I've been totally blind since birth. By the way, I'm typing this on a Friday. My bride died on a Saturday. I have a large supply of Christian music I can share with you. For now, let me give you one more song. It is New Jerusalem by Michael Card. I think you will love it.
