Me too. Wondering if the darker color was ok. The ones I ordered and planted were white. The beans I saved were white and a purple color as shown. So all of them are ok to plant?
Ok thanks. beans where great this year. 8 foot wall 65 feet long was putting out 3-4 lbs every other day. Just let them grow ou te last couple weeks for seed and storage
Thanks! First year growing Heirloom Provider and the seed vault I bought only came with 24 beans. A few of my plants started to seed out and I was curious which seeds would be viable. This is exactly what I was looking for down to the same variety.
Have you noticed a difference in percentage of sprouting by the stage of drying the beans? More will sprout when left on the vines to dry? I try to let all mine dry on the vine, unless I know that a lot of rain is coming. Thanks.
I gonna try this with butter beans (if I remember the correct English word, in Holland we call them sperziebonen) which I bought from the store :p Thanks for your information :)
Thank you for watching Homesteaders Freedom and for commenting! You're very welcome, I'm glad you found the video informative. This method will work with any type of bean. Happy gardening!
@HomesteadersFreedom can you please help me. I'm letting my beans dry out write now for seeds, but we have a lot of rabbits this year and I'm afraid I won't have any left. Question.? Can I pull them out of the ground and let them dry on my porch?. Thanks
So what about frosts and hard freezes now later in the year here? We have a lot of Kentucky wonder and a purple pole bean still up...,think we should just let them dry on the vine? It's getting in to the 30's now every night
+TACTICAL DAIRYMAN Thank you for watching the video! If its getting that cold, I would harvest as many bean pods as you want from the most productive plants and let the large seeds dry out inside the house. You will be able to plant them during the next growing season.
i want to plant some pinto beans i already have the clients they need about 6 tons per year how much space would i need to plant thatt much , im hoping to use some aeroponic system to reduce cost space and increases productivity with lesser space
Why dont people eat green bean seeds like other type of beans like kidney beans, black beans etc? And could we eat other bean varieties in pod form like green beans?
You can store them in any container you have and keep them in a cool dry location. I tend to store my seeds in the fridge but they don't have to be in a fridge.
is it possible to grow beans with dry beans ? like the ones from the bag at the store ? I live in asia not in the states anymore and I can't find any type of black ,pinto uncooked beans here.im wondering if I can grow some with some dry beans??!
yen Ling shang afaik you can dried beans stay in water for 24 hours or so. Then you put them in the ground. Afaik that works for the most kinds of beans.
