  • *In this video, I'll show you how to harvest your beans to collect and store the seed. It's very easy to do but you don't want to keep any damaged or bad seed. You want to make sure the seeds are completely dry and are free from mold and I'll show you how to look out and test for that.

Thank you so much for giving a realistic view on bean seed saving and validating my "moldy" bean pods. You are the first person I have seen that will show all the harvest and not just the "pretty" pods.

Very informative! Your videos always teach me so much as a beginner gardener. Can I take seeds that haven’t finished drying, and dry them in my freeze dryer?

Hi @Buddy's Mom...thanks for tuning in!
I wouldn't use the freeze dryer on the seeds if you want to plant them later. If there's enough moisture left in the seed, the freezing process will expand that water and damage the cells. It can still be used for eating after it's dried but it won't germinate.

Any tips if you live in a cold climate and cannot leave the plants out over the winter due to below zero temperatures and feet of snow

Great video! Is this seed saving method the same way to keep beans for storage/eating later too?

      Thanks @Snoopy!
Yes, use this approach for any beans you want to store for turning into a meal later.
