Very cool to see Swallows Racing develop suspension specifically to mimic the Jag ride quality, yet make them adjustable. Really curious how it will handle once they're done! My personal favourite is still the XJR though, because it looks so sinister.
@@Drivetribe I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the XK is going to come out. It's a great car as well, I love Jag's in general, but if I had to make the choice it would be the XJR. Mainly just happy to see a Jag project, as most car channels do muscle cars, JDM or German sedans.
It's super refreshing to see the guys at Swallows thinking ahead re cores and spares for that subframe (and undoubtably other parts/programs). So many folks are reactionary today it makes me smile to see that!
I noticed on the last episode of Hammond’s xj that they said “we’ve done this, we’ve done that” but we only got to see the finished product and not the work. Kind of ruined it me and as for them there’s a lot more content in that
The Smallest Cog has been very busy recently so we weren't able to film the nitty gritty of Richard's XJ work. Thank you for the feedback, we'll aim to make the future episodes as in-depth as we can 🙂 - Mike
@@Drivetribe I understand you’re very busy with the smallest cog and I appreciate that. I just love seeing the work on the cars too. I hope we catch some more of it in future episodes. The episodes are still enjoyable to watch too 👌
I wonder how much all of this would cost. The tune up, coolant pipes, supercharger pulleys, gaskets, powder coating, bushings, etc. I’d love all this done to my 2002 XJR 100, but I’m in the US and would prefer to have it in the hands of these guys who are completely familiar with this era of Jags.
in case anyone is wondering, here in japan car shops don't gouge on maintenance. my 6 monthly oil change and tune up costs about $50. every 2 years we're required by law to get a more thorough inspection and anything worn or dodgy has to be repaired. minimum cost for this is about $1000 per, though for cars over 10 years old it's usually closer to the $2000 mark with parts needing to be replaced. people happily do regular maintenance because it's cheap and hassle-free, and there's no way to opt out of the thorough jobs that do cost a lot.
The Jag F1 livery is one of my favourites, but the best? Nah. The JPS Lotus. The Marlboro McLaren. The Rothmans Williams. The B&H Jordan. The 7-Up Jordan. The Orange Arrows. Not just a list of liveries better, but also more iconic.
Sorry Jag fans, but I have to go with the Lotus black & gold John Player Special cars as my favorite F1 livery. Jaguar and the Mclaren Marlboro cars round out my top 3. I do love the Jaguar 44 Le Mans cars!
Just a small nitpick: That is not 2002 Jaguar R3. From how the car (especially around sidepods) is shaped I'd guess that it is a 1999 Stewart SF-3 in Jaguar colors that was used as a show car
You’re right but show cars sadly are often billed as a completely different model from what they are. I’ve seen many people send me a picture of a Frankenstein car Red Bull said was the rb16 and it’s a mix of rb13 and 12 parts
I bought a Rover SD1, it broke down at peak hour causing a mass traffic jam that caused the police to turn of traffic lights in order to sort out the traffic jam at Sydney airport and central Sydney roads. That got me on the news that day.
2:20 I do like it a lot, and it's kinda funny because i was discussing livery ideas recently with someone, and i suggested that Red Bull could do their cars in my favorite flavor color, which would be the green from the Cactusfruit flavor. I made a quick Photoshop mockup of what i would think it might look like, and i could've sworn that it reminded me of something, and now i know what it reminded me of, haha, it's this livery. Although mine had a couple more magenta highlights, that is used on the Red Bull can (and is the color of the actual soda), and of course the Red Bull logo would add more yellow/orange coloring to it, but otherwise my concept was pretty much the same as this one. I would like to see Red Bull try out their rainbow of flavors over a season.
Mike - you need to reconsider the format. Recently there's way too much waffle, showing stuff that's not on topic and solid sections all about advertising. I'm here for the nut and bolt action, which is becoming the smallest part of every upload 👎
Haha, crazy. I have Eddie Irving’s helmet and a gear ratio from the 2002 Australian GP. He finished 4th, with only 7 cars finishing. Mark Webber finished 5th in a Minardi, with Alex Yoong in 7th. Ah the memories.
I totally agree on yellow jordan livery. Although I think you mistake a p40 warhawk with the jordan simply having a snake head on the nose. Either way, it's far more epic than this green livery. (although I will admit that this livery is far above the average f1 livery)
As a brief aside.......The 'Sharks Mouth' originates from Luftwaffe Zg 76 flying the Me110d, moves to 112sdn RAF P40s then connects to the AVG of the Chinese Airforce P40s known as the Flying Tigers.
Rust free Jags with low mileage are also to be had Down Under. My 2004 XK8 Coupe only has 130,000 ks & no rust at all, but am also about to replace the front struts & top plates.
I prefer the Marlboro Honda. Or the simple Brawn design from 2009. The lotus looked better parked up than racing. The JPS livery looked better on the Rotary Nortons back in the 90s. The dash of grey made the gold pop more.
I was gonnae go out for a small drink because I got the notif at the end of service. Now, I'll probs watch it a couple 'a' times. How 'bout that Messi, eh? What a lad....
even in countries that dont salt roads or havent in a long time there still the chance of corrosion the salt just makes it occur faster NZ stopped salting by the 80's [it wasnt even a wide spread method anyways] yet my 97 honda has a reasonable amount of rust probably due to the salt water it lives by and the fact its a small honda thats been bashed about since atleast the mid 2000s
I had a 1973 XJ6 that had come from the UK. I ended up scrapping it because it had so much rust, I could pull a Fred Flintstone and put my foot through the floor pan. It's a pity cause that was a nice car too.
