@@funnyyoshi "The song was released in Australia and New Zealand through Eleven Music on 5 July 2011 as the second single from Gotye's third studio album, Making Mirrors (2011). It was later released by Universal Music in December 2011 in the United Kingdom, and 20 January 2012 in Ireland and the United States."
@@funnyyoshi Apparently the song came out in July 2011 in Australia & New Zealand (Gotye is Australian, with a Belgian backgrond) And I remember that here in the Netherlands, the song already became a big deal in the summer of 2011. There used to be this radio competition for Song of the Year over here, and Somebody That I Used To Know was voted Song of the Year 2011. But yes, it wasn't until January 2012 that the song was released in the U.S. (in the U.K. one month earlier) My perspective here is a bit eurocentric. In the experience of a lot of people, this was very much a 2012 song
Drums are hard for this one because there are so many layers to this song. The actual drums get covered by all the other samples which have percussive elements to them
Gangnam Style!! (though not with those drums) And didn’t Gotye’s song come out in 2011? Here in the Netherlands I was already hearing the song in the summer of that year (if I remember correctly)
@@defx01I was going to give your RUclips channel a sub then I read your bio, sorry just because you’re back doesn’t mean you deserve special treatment.
Fun fact: Somebody That I Used To Know’s famous beat is completely sampled from Luiz Bonfá’s Seville, unfortunately, Bonfá died in 2001 and Universal quickly snapped up the licenses for his songs, Universal sued Gotye for $1m and claimed that all the money won in the court case would go to Bonfá’s "estate", his family didn’t see a single penny.
I figured from the view count that it either had to be Somebody I Used to Know or We are Young, and then the second that the drums played the tempo was off for We are Young.
I heard the bass line and my mind was like “BUT YOU DIDNT HAVE TO CUUUUUUUUT ME OFFFFFFF”
But didn’t Gotye’s song already come out way in 2011? Maybe it didn’t become a hit in North America until 2012
@@Arawn505It was absolutely 2012, I don't know where you got 2011 from.

Ngl I was like, pumped up kicks, wtf? But then the bass gave it away easily
I got it on the drums but only because I knew the drum pattern, it does not actually sound like that though lmao
Yeah it sounds nothing like it
only one i’ve ever gotten just from drums
Drums are hard for this one because there are so many layers to this song. The actual drums get covered by all the other samples which have percussive elements to them
Bro dropped one of the most fire pop songs ever made and dipped off the face of the earth
Nah. He just took the money and is fucking around (aka making whatever music he feels like) for the rest of his life. More people should do that :)
Besides doing stuff with The Basics, he had another pretty big hit in Easy Way Out.
She guess on my song until I band

Gangnam Style!! (though not with those drums) And didn’t Gotye’s song come out in 2011? Here in the Netherlands I was already hearing the song in the summer of that year (if I remember correctly)
I didnt even think it would have over 300m views ngl
@@SwitchbIade not sure you're that old than tbh, shit was *M A S S I V E* back when it was big
thought it was Kokomo at first
I remember it like it was yesterday. 13 years old in 2012, The Beach Boys made their amazing return and dropped the craziest comeback song Kokomo
bruh same
@@defx01bro u making me feel old wtf

gotye dropped this masterpiece and then disappeared when thw world needed him most, like the avatar.
The drums and the release date and views were enough for me and now I'm proud of myself
that bass is really that iconic
The production on that song is just unmatched
I do enjoy watching these a lot
Those drums just gave it off so quick
Gotye somebody that I used to know
I never get it on the drums, but as soon as they add bass you can tell exactly what it is.
Anyone else alway get ‘under my thumb’ vibes when listening to this song?
immediately knew this one, grew up loving this song
Drums made me think Beach Boys which i knew was wrong lol. Bass is iconic here though.
Anyone else thought the drums were can’t touch this
Check bandle today you won't believe it
I thought they were the intro to MJ's rock with you
@@all-caps3927 rock with you didnt come out in 2012 bro 😂
Honestly nailed it. The celebrations kill me
Only time I’ve ever gotten it on the first bit of the song. I usually NEVER get it
Im only 14 and i love this song. Millencolin are so underrated
I swear I recognized it just by hearing the first bass note. Up until then, I had no clue.
Thank you so much for introducing me to this game ❤
Certified 2012 summer song. It was everywhere.
before i heard it i was like "that gotye song is the only one i remember is from 2012"
The bass doesn't even sound like that until you get to the chorus, it's only the first half in the verses.
The drums were giving California Dreaming
I heard "2.1B" and "2012" and assumed it was going to be something from MBDTF
That sounds more like somebody's cover of the song than the actual stems
Playing bandle, the easy songs are some of the more difficult
I don't listen to pop music but the drums reminded me of Anaconda by Nicki Minaj 😅
i got it after 0.000001 seconds on the drums so much i surprised myself and spilt water everywhere
i’m ngl i knew the song but i thought it came out in like the 90s lol
Fun fact: Somebody That I Used To Know’s famous beat is completely sampled from Luiz Bonfá’s Seville, unfortunately, Bonfá died in 2001 and Universal quickly snapped up the licenses for his songs, Universal sued Gotye for $1m and claimed that all the money won in the court case would go to Bonfá’s "estate", his family didn’t see a single penny.
This is the first one I’ve gotten from just the drums.
Drums sounds like miss Baltimore crabs
Thought it was that Peter bjorn and John song at first
melon getting hyped over these games is the best thing
I saw 2012 2.2B and already knew
I will watch these everyday if you upload them lol
Holy shit I guessed it from the drum part even though it didn't sound familiar at all
I mean. 2012 popular songs my mind was like Carly Rae or gotye before anything played
Funny thing about Kim bruh. She got Ye but now she’s somebody that he used to know
I hate how quick i get these sometimes when i cant remember the names of the songs i listen to half the time
No cap I knew it immediately. The cowbell like thing gave it away to me
I guessed it when he said 2012, first thing that came to mind
That song was every where that year
The drums sounded like Kokomo to me
As soon as i heard 2012 and 2.1 billion views i knew it was Somebody that i used to know. Just because of the view count. I watch it a lot.
i love how excited he gets
I GUESSED THAT ON THE DRUMS LMFAO!!! SHE DIDNT HAVE TO CUUUUUUUUT ME OFFFFFFF
You have to play the midi vocal cover after getting it anthony
the drums sound like cell block tango
I got it from the drums, theyre good
i thought it was circle in the sand until I heard the bass part
I thought it was that song from Inglorious Basterds
Proud to say I got it right before melon boy. The moment that bass hit I knew
The bass line is unmistakable
I got it off the drums. Let's go
Same
Got it on drums
we studied this song in school so i got it immediately
Somehow i got it on the drums, lol
I hope he plays the bandle for today
me exactly
Crazy how I got this instantly
I got it from the drums somehow
When I heard the drum I thought it was Kokomo but sped up 💀
I thought he said 2021 for some reason so that threw me off.. damn dyslexia
Weird because I was listening to this in 2011
I already knew without hearing the instruments☠️
Knew it as soon as I heard the drums
I figured from the view count that it either had to be Somebody I Used to Know or We are Young, and then the second that the drums played the tempo was off for We are Young.
Fantano I just aced the Spottle today
I shit my pants that little clack clack in the beat got it for me. No way.
One of the only ones I'd get in one
Always amazed that I get it before melon and ion know shit about music
Cant believe he didn't get it at the drums
i knew it immediately because of the claves
I was thinking gangnam style…
It actually came out in 2011 so Bandle is just a load of barnacles
I knew it immediately lol
Got it from the drums
i guessed the song and then the drums threw me off 😂
Sound like Chicago cell black tango
The start reminds me of be my baby by the ronettes
I got it with the drums
He knows his bass
Bro i couldn't even recognize this if they played the whole song. How do some people do that xD
Sounded like Kokomo at first 😅
Got it right at the start
i guessed it at the bass too 😂😂
Gotye come back please. The whole album was so good.
I guess it at the exact same time he did😂😂
i thought it was smooth operator
I can’t believe I got this before him
Gangnam Style
