This defense attorney is horrific. She is obviously suffering from senility and is rude and becomes confused and does not listen.
I’m not defending her or Jose by any means, he should be eligible for the chair.
It is always hard to cross examine ME’s. They are usually very matter of fact, scientific people by nature. Unless the defense had evidence that the ME office tampered or hindered evidence, made a critical error or prejudice, they should have waived their cross examination.
@@nottanot6015she doesn't do what a trial lawyer should do. in fact, a lot of the time - and i'm relatively familiar with her work, i've seen her in trial several times - when the judge sustains an objection, she glowers and then just asks the question again, but more firmly lol. she's a terrible attorney and i won't be surprised if he gets an appeal because of her.
She should be removed from this case. She seems confused. She is disorganized , thumbing through the documents, which she should have done ahead of time. Appears to not understand what the hearing is for. I agree that the defendant could file for insufficient counsel if he gets an unfavorable verdict.
Kudos to Dr. Molina, professionalism at it's best.

Does the Bar Association do some kind of "peer review"....because this defense attorney needs a "check up". In my cynical mind I'm wondering if Jose Ruiz was sent her way in order to provide him with "valid" grounds for overturning the guilty verdict that is coming his way. (he will use "incompetent representation" and probably win on appeal)

They both should have retired years ago and at this point, should be disbarred! Not that I have any sympathy for the POS defendant, but he would have been better off representing himself! The quote, “He who represents himself, has a fool for a client”, is normally true, but in this case I think that the quote should be changed to…..

I’m not sure if you watched the trial of Jennifer Crumbley, but her defense attorney, Shannon Smith, was a hot mess as well and I didn’t think it could get much worse, until I watched this case! 🫣

Oh, I also had the thought that this was a plan from the beginning….meaning hiring two inadequate attorneys to handle the case so that he could claim Ineffective counsel when he loses the trial, which he did….he was found guilty!

Boy! Watching this trial It reminded me of a 1960 Judge Judy throw back. I never in my life saw a lawyer or public defender like this one here who tends to repeat in circles the same questions but with a little twist. Like seriously, she shall be home drinking some warm milk in her rocking chair 🪑 I will never hire someone over 50s to represent me in court, hell nnooooooooo 😅

Makes you realize how sick of people we have among us. To take the toenails off of a child is horrific and painful. They obviously mean't to Torture Mercedes and I hope they get the maximum. They look sad as they are only because they got caught. Not because they care for others. Hearing the testimony of the case work at CPS made me sick.

Because they cut a lot of us out of the Live!! me and a few others watched, live every day for the first three days, and then they cut it off for us. The lady in the courtroom told me that they were asked to take the chat down because it could create a mistrial. My daughter was able to get on the live chat, but I was not.

I just cant with this defense attorney. She was talking like her dentures were about to fall out. I couldn't understand much of what she was trying to say for the first time they had the ME out there, her speech was so slurred at the end. Shes a hot mess.

I haven't heard the other defense atty. May be these are public attorneys? They don't get paid as much as a private ones. I am sure there are great public defenders but the lady in yellow doesn't come across as well-informed. If I was the defendant, I would ask for another atty. if this goes to trial.

I think the defense is just trying to sew doubt. They mention asthma often, they’ve tried latching on to the Emergency Department‘s Time of Death report saying due to cardiac arrest (which is the VAST majority of Emergency Department’s TOD reports), mentioned the bruising could be from ANY blunt force trauma, not just striking.
The best way I can describe this defense, they’re grasping at straws and hoping the jurors are dumb enough to be tricked. They’ve struggled cross examining the nurse at the beginning and the ME here today. They did do well, IMO at least, cross examining the POS “mother” (she deserves death row too) making her out to be what she is, a poorly educated non credible source. I think the state was hoping for a much better testimony from her.

Court reporter was incompetent she cant spell medical terms. These medical terms are the first we learned in medical assistant training. Geez that court reporter needed to be someone versed in medical terms. I even knew how to spell those words and Im just a medical secretary.
