- Students training aid for testing continuity of the CPC and polarity of a 2 way lighting circuit. Full demonstration using a MFT Megger tester set on the ohms scale.
Demonstration shows how to set up your Megger MFT tester and carry out an insulation resistance test for a 2 way lighting circuit. Test voltage is 500V DC and the minimum acceptable value according to BS 7671 1 megaohms with further investigation when the reading falls below 2 megohms. Also shows and explains the need to switch both 2 way switches into the other on position and repeat the insulation resistance test.
Videos are training aids for City and Guilds (C and G) and EAL courses Level 1, 2, 3 plus AM2, AM2S and AM2E.

Absolute legend - Some trainers enjoy complicating this process, you make it as simple as it should be. Thank you.
Thanks Daniel 💕🦾💕
Always clear your channel has taught me loads
Thanks 💕🦾💕
Your videos are really helping me with my 2391 prep. thankyou!
Thanks 👍🏻
How did you get on?
Ive been at college 9 weeks doing evenings. weve lost 3 tutors so far with the help of your vieos i will pass thank you
Hi. Thanks for your message I am gutted about your situation but glad my videos have been helpful. Our electrical science and principles channel may also help you it’s call Hoe Robinson Training. All the best Gaz
Yup .. my college is exactly the same. And I think Gaz means Joe Robinson and not Hoe (well, at least not during respectable 7am to 7pm college hours 👠👠 🤣 ) .. Joe’s science vids are ace 👍👍
Thanks Gaz, it looks you didn’t take the lamp off while doing the insulation resistance test, would it be ok?
Brilliant training videoclip. Just as it should be in any respectable training session. Well done.
Thanks 💕🦾💕
Another cracking video Gaz. These are gold dust! Thank you!
Thanks 😊 👍
It is possible to show the method of examination by drawing
Would this testing be the same for two phase two way ? Because this is three phase ?
thanks for making this video it really helped me understand it
Hi. Thanks for the positive comment Gaz
Hey, When you get the first reading for continuity, are both switches in the on position? Cheers
Hi. With 2 way and 2 way and intermediate switching down won’t always mean on. Think about the landing light at home the switch downstairs and upstairs operates the same lighting point but it won’t always be down for on... thanks Gaz
ah I see, sorry for it being quite a silly question but thank you for clearing it up.
Hi Gaz what two points does the link attach to thanks
Hi. The line (brown) and cpc (green/yellow).Thanks Gaz
GSH Electrical thanki
Well explained as im a novas
Thanks for the positive feedback Gaz 👍
What about 0.38 reading, that is the highest reading,is that going in cert?
Highest recorded reading 🦾
Hi Gaz, in an installation wired in the loop in method with say the lives wired to the switches. If the end of line neutral and earth is in a different room than the end of line switch feed. Do you have to run a wander led between the two to obtain the highest possible r1 r2 reading. Or does the max resistance reading from a switch line to only the lights its controlling suffice? Thanks
How do you test a two way lighting circuit briefly
Hi. I have playlist on lighting circuits but this may help

Thanks for watching and commenting Gaz
Cheers Steve
is there a max value for R1+Rn ?? why do we just look at Zs for earth fault. Surely a live to neutral fault must also trip the circuit breaker fast ??

Total Earth Fault Loop Impedance Zs = Ze + R1 + R2 for TN-S and TN-C-S Earthing Arrangements ruclips.net/video/Ksg2zQLuiAs/видео.html
@@GSHElectrical I want to know about R1 + RN not earth fault. Is their a max value for R1+RN ? I mean if there is a short between live and neutral for CB to operate within 0.4 secs or is it not important ?
