Love the back to basics testing of continuity, polarity & insulation resistance tests. Always good to have a recap and who better then Gaz to enlighten us. GSH all the way for me. Keep up the brilliant teaching GSH Team, much appreciated and valued.

Hi, now the am2 requires you to go to the switches first carrying the neutral through to the light last

I am preparing myself for AM2 exams, this video is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so very much!!! This is Big Help!
Could you please make videos about fault finding on "S" plan Central Heating and Hot Water system?

Do you need to remove the bulb in insulation resistance test?

    HI,
There are so many variation of tests on lighting continuity tests! I do not understand which one to follow?
The one you are doing is R1+R2 for the lighting is different from the one in another video from some one els?
You did tests for continuity at the lighting terminal points but you also carried out tests on the switching terminals? for continuity. I have seen videos that they carry out tests either at the board end for R1+R2 for lighting continuity or at the lighting terminal points by joining either end with line with cpc. And they do not carry out at the switching terminal for 3 ways light switches. Why is that? Do they do wrong? or missing one part of the tests, the switches terminal? or that is still acceptable?
This really help if you can answer.
    Thanks

When you test continuity on the intermediate switch, and you're probing the line terminal, which one is that? The brown or one of the cables (i.e. Black) with sleeving on? Or is would you just probe onto the common terminal? Cheers Gaz

There’s no common terminal on an intermediate switch, it’s L1 and L2 top and bottom of the switch. I’m thinking as they’re strappers you can test from any terminal in the intermediate switch.

@@olivergalloway4827 thanks for the reply. I'm just trying to get a proper understanding of testing in light switches and the lighting points, so this is helpful 👍

LocoSajoca Yes don’t worry, lighting can sound simple but it’s actually really complicated if you’re not doing it day in day out👍🏼

Have you. Not got to operate switches while continuity at switches to go through strappers
