Well said. I can relate to this a lot. Firstly, I agree; most RUclips gurus are fraudulent. There are tons of Twitter accounts talking about faceless channels and RUclips automation, and it's mostly bullshit. With all that being said, there are some creators that definitely give out great advice. In my experience, having monetized two channels now and holding a degree in advertising, I like to think I have a decent grasp of things. However, I am constantly dealing with imposter syndrome. It's honestly probably one of my biggest hurdles. I'm still figuring out where I fit into the ecosystem BUT that doesn't mean I can't help others.
I don't think you are giving yourself enough credit. Yes, you (and me, lol) are still learning, but we've clearly done something right. Your editing skills are top-notch. Fifty thousand subscribers in under a year is a MASSIVE accomplishment. I would try not to directly compare yourself with others. There are always RUclipsrs who blow up faster and quicker than us, but that's okay. You have to take your own path.
As long as you are making something you are proud of and that people enjoy, you will be successful. Truthfully. That's my motto. A lot of people thought I was crazy to release a documentary about a gas station and now its my second most popular video. You have to believe in yourself, if you do, amazing things will happen. Great video like always!

Hey man! Imposter syndrome definitely seems to be a common factor among many RUclipsrs, and while I can't say I have it myself, the sort-of isolation of the job, alongside RUclips Studio's growth-centric metrics, can feed into those feelings of inadequacy that often lead to it. It's definitely something I'm a bit wary of, which is why I like to tell myself to not bother being perfect and remain true to myself in whatever I do.
As for the comparisons I've made, I mainly did them just to make a point that there are other people in a similar boat to me who have taken wildly different routes to where they are, and that there isn't any one method, or even definition, of "making it." But I do agree it wouldn't be good for my mental health to compare myself to others. It's why I half-left my personal insta a while back. No need for jealousy in my life!
Can't wait for you to beat Chris Chan to 100k subs!

The one thing many seem to forget is that when creators blow up, you see what they recently put out but don't really see what they used to put in

Very well spoken. I really don't think almost anybody understands RUclips and its quirks when it comes to constantly producing content that garners new and grabbing attention. It's really just a manner of refine and repeat until people find their workflow which works best for them. RUclips is a confusing place for sure lol.

    Hey JHXC,
I had a similar experience to you with “starting” my YT channel (my account is like from 2006 lol). I streamed on Twitch for 3 years and it didn’t really go anywhere, and remembered how much fun I had making YT vids in highschool, so I decided to give it a shot. Like you, I had very early success (close to 10k in about 6 months so far, not as impressive numbers wise, but still far beyond my expectations). And, to that same end, I relate in feeling like I know absolutely nothing and always feel like I’m doing something “wrong.”
With that being said, I just want to say your story and openness from you and others creators inspired me to try, starting with an open letter to myself for my first video to be a public reminder of why I enjoy creation and why I need to keep doing it in spite of any growth metrics YT shoves in my face. You’re a very talented creator, and it’s been really cool to see your development over the past year, and I can’t wait to see where you decide to go next.
    Cheers 🍻

This vid was really well thought out, and you've got a lot of wisdom on the subject! And to be honest, if voice-over is all you need a mic for, a USB mic can carry your entire youtube career. There isn't an inherent need for super high quality mics unless you're in audio engineering, or anything related to it.

My first ever videos blew up as well, although not to a viral level, it was huge getting over 110k views on my FIRST video. Everyone in my discord asked how I did it and this and that. The algorithm works in mysterious ways. You can always do the obvious things like making good content, pick something trending, etc... but I dont think I'll ever know why my first ever videos will prob be my best, for a long time...and that's ok.

@@NeverMoney I"m trying new trends, (Palworld) It is what it is. I'm still thankful for the initial boost of growth. There is creators that do this for years and never obtain this level of "sucess". So I cant complain.

Something to add to the "nobody knows what they are doing"
I remember 1,5 years ago i was part of the little community of Arch and he was doing everything at the same time, to try new things, because there is so much, like streaming hosting(Valorant/Minecract/...) Competitions, Making Game mods, he did not know either what he was doing lol, And even now, having come so far, he's trying new things like making custom subtitles for his videos in differe't languages to see if they get him more tracion...
Really, you can never fully understand RUclips, and the keep it spicy in my opinion 😂

The truth is, there is an element of luck to RUclips. If you could predict the future and knew that your video would bomb compared to other videos, would you still upload? Probably not. Therefore, whenever you upload a video you will never be able to tell if they could match the success of your most popular videos. Even Mr. Beast could have a delta of 200 million views between his own videos.

People think that the reason why others are blowing up is because they know/cracked the algorithm and are taking advantage on it. I bet 8/10 times that a creator didn’t know why they even blew up in the first place. The only time they knew they would blow up is if they had a killer idea for a video that nobody did and was for sure going to blow up. From what I’ve seen, most vids blow up because of the idea/title making the viewer feel intrigued and compelled to click on it. Which is probably why you proving Ludwig wrong, only to backfire, did so well. But I don’t think that’s the whole story

Also, Mrbeast is the RUclips guru and some others, I'm not saying that because of the financial position and team back up they have, but youtube has changed for years and Mrbeast has been one of yhe only people "the top 0.1" to understand how and everything works now tgeir is literally no stopping any of them because they have an existing audience
My pov, bruh iono what is coming next but I subbed because while people are being clones of who their not you're bringing something new to the table.
Pls don't quit, no stress and go with the flow. It doesn't have to look like a grind, if you don't see it that way it might help❤
