The Sour family might be my favorite family of cocktails. It's so diverse but incredibly reliable. I don't always use egg white though it's become very common place. Great job. You've got yourself a blue streak David! 🥃
A blue streak huh???? Your right sours are so much fun. I need to try a new foaming agent for fun. But apparently they are hard to get or very expensive.
We got the blue for the free coctail bar at play festival, a local circus skills festival. It was given away over the bar, that was the theme. Grenadine was the main mixer by the volunteers but that was too sweet by the second run. So went behind and found sour cranberry to cut. De kuyper is a decent blue. This looks great
Looks great! I’m glad you added bourbon! When I saw the title I thought it would be straight blue curaçao ...which wouldn’t tastes like much! Haha. ...yes those McGuinness liqueurs pretty much have a monopoly on flavoured liqueurs here in Ontario. I just picked up their peppermint schnapps and Creme de cacao for holiday drinks
Great drink David. Looks fantastic. I enjoy bright looking drinks and sours so this should be a great option for me. You are taking kind of a risk grabing just random bottle after eating the egg yolk. I guess should be smart never to leave your bitters that hign. hahaha Cheers!
Awesome stuff David. Not sure if you can find this in Canada, but if you can, look for Butterfly Pea. I'd give you the scientific name for it, but I'm sure your channel if PG, hence, didnt want to risk anything. It's a flower, that when tossed into a bottle of clear liquor (gin and vodka are the safe favourites), changes their colour. Quite a common ingredient in a Malaysian dish from a state called Kelantan. Try it out if you're able to. Regards from Malaysia.
More like a Blue Cura-sour, amirite? Ahem. Sorry about that. I love Woodford Reserve. I have a bottle of the Double Oaked currently, and got to stop by the distillery once while travelling through Kentucky. I don't have any blue (or clear) Curacao, but I may try this with Cointreau.
That was Funny. I like puns. Try it with the Cointreau and let me know how it turns out. It won';t be blue/ Try only adding .75 o/22.5 ml of the Cointreau.
@@boozeontherocks At present I'm experimenting with pairing Drambuie and Cointreau, because Drambuie and orange really pair together nicely. And since St Andrew's Day is coming up, I was thinking of swapping out the Cointreau for blue curacao to bring in the colour of the Saltire. Still very much a work in progress though. I'm using the Old Fashioned ratio as a basic formula, gin or vodka as a base spirit with orange bitters. If anyone wants to improve this, I'm open for suggestions since I'm not a mixologist just an enthusiast.
2 thing. LOVE a blue drink. Secondly... Why have I never comprehended Bourbon with Blue Curacao?! 🧐🤷♂️👏👏
It is an unusual combination, but it works really well.
Sounds good. PSA was too funny. Stay healthy & safe. Thanks for posting. Have a good week!
Your welcome. and Thank you. You have a great week too.

The one sour I don't like egg with is the New York Sour... I find the texture clashes with the wine.

@Rob's Home Bar It also makes it harder to consistently get a good float.
@@RobsHomeBar Interesting you mention New York Sour.....hmmmm....
@@carl_busch can we expect something soon?
DUDE your setup is awesome! Just sub'ed , Cheers!
Thank yo very much. Glad to have you on aboard.
Aaah, every bartender's nemesis, Blue...cur...a...cao. :D I can't remember the last time I have used that stuff. The recipe seems A++ though :D
thank you. I can see why its not as popular, but it could also be time of year related.
Big fan of sours no matter how they look, this one just happens to be beautiful as well. Love the reference to Indiana Jones as well.
Thank you . Indian Jones is awesome.
I can't believe I hadn't seen this channel before, gonna be bringing these all weekend lol
I'm glad you like it. Please let me know how it tuns out for you.

Thank you, I am a huge fan of blue cocktails
I haven't bought Blue Curacao in over 6 years. But does look really nice
It does work well.
Dave laughs in the face of ecoli! Haha great vid and drink!
Ha,ha, ecoli has nothing on me 😀
Love the BOTR News lol. Keep on getting awesome!

Coloured drinks are fun! I got ingredients to make blue, green, red and purple drinks.

Tempting indeed! I ♥️ the bright color. A big thumbs up 👍 and Paw5 🐾
Thank you
I give my leftover yolks to my dogs, they appreciate them so much more.
That they would:)
I typically don't like an egg white in my sour. I just use whiskey sour mix and blue curaçao and whiskey of choice tastes great .
That's fair, what kind of sour mix do you use?
@@boozeontherocks Ms T whiskey sour mix.

Your right, I don't have the bitters where i could casually grab one. I figure if I reach at random it could be interesting.
@@boozeontherocks it definitely is lots of fun. I just want any unnecessary suffering to be avoided. 😁

..
Well I do like Blue, but I would like to try a different distiller.
@@boozeontherocks best clear triple sec and add blue food colouring 😉
@@stephane.foisy.186 That would have made it even more blue.....hhhmm.............
Blues on the Rocks. Huh, that wouldn't be a half bad name for a cocktail. You need to invent it before someone else nabs it.

Let's get into it!! I happen to like the texture the real egg adds.
I prefer it. It gives that nice silky mouth feel.
Love the egg!
