This is the Ontario Government's answer to eliminating coal-fired power plants: Blow them up before their time, without any plan in place to replace the lost generating capacity and then import power from other coal fired plants in the United States.
    Fucking Brilliant.

Tragic. An amazing place gone before its time.

I wish I paid more attention to the tour I was given when I was in Scouts. One of our scout leaders used to work there, so before it was demolished, he gave my Scout group a guided tour. I took a piece of coal from the conveyor belts and brought it home where I stored it in a mason jar. I think I threw the coal away months later.... I really wish I kept it, but alas I was only a boy at the time.
I remember the cargo elevator, it was huge, the whole group fit in it, many floors in the plant too. I can't remember all the details now, but I remember seeing the elevator, some workers in blue coats, and many many pipes throughout the plant.
I remember watching on TV the 4 "Sisters" smokestacks being demolished. Only 2 stacks were ever used - the other two where not equipped with scrubbers if I recall correctly, therefore where never used hence why the tips where still white and clean.
Watching this made me sad a bit, I wish it was still there. Exploring it today would have brought back so many memories.

@@iamjaysaul1169 Mine was going to work there, but due to the scheming to get rid of it in the 90s, was sent to one of the nukes instead.
Here, or there. This place would've given me a good life and did for many others. It breaks my heart to see it go.

Look closely on 54 seconds and you could see apart that hasen't fallen compleatly. Very intersting. What kind of powerplant was it?

I live closeby and think it was still needed in the power grid especially in a back up capacity during high demand.
Ontario government blows on this one.
    Why not use natural gas?
4 years of construction destroyed in a matter of seconds.Sad to see it go.
I was inside a few times on delivery and the place was massive in scale.Awesome what man can build.
