Last time I went to Toronto it took almost 4 hours to get downtown, after driving 2 hours to get there, so 12 hours of driving for a 2 hour concert...
So not worth the time when I can drive an hour to London or Kitchener for more intimate venues!

I mean the city itself isn’t really built for the amount of people and cars in it. Not enough public transportation and it’s too late to really build new highways through the city which will probably make things worse. I don’t hate bike lanes but they’re mostly just for show

Let me guess, the solution is more immigrants to build more roads? Just like how the solution to the housing shortage was more immigrants to build the houses.

Can we stop pretending we’re Amsterdam or Paris: we 3 subway lines, not 300; we don’t the temperatures or weather to push bike lanes 12 months a year; cities that have bike lanes usually make those streets into one way streets and they don’t use useless street cars that essential block 2 lanes and create more environmental damage because of all the cars idling behind them.

.........Businesses will move away from Toronto and young people will leave. You no longer have any quality of life living in Toronto.
The traffic is terrible. You move way more traffic with buses and cars and not with bicycles. These bike lanes have definitely made the traffic worse. And it hurts businesses. We have parks and nature trails. The bikes belong there away from the cars and trucks and buses. Keep adding bike lanes and you will hollow out your jobs and businesses. No one wants to sit in traffic all day. You will end up with a city of bicycles and with no jobs to go to. People will leave.........

I wonder how they measure this congestion? Because I find it hard to believe that Toronto is 3rd worst in the world compared to everyone else. To me it seems like downtown Toronto and parts of the highway system are congested during rush hour and then things get better when you move out of those areas.
Don't go downtown and don't use the highways too much during rush hour and you'll be fine mostly.

Seriously I think a fair amount of Toronto's traffic problems could be reduced with just a few simply adjustments like getting traffic lights to be timed properly so that they work in synchronization to keep traffic moving on major roads or if we're talking downtown perhaps implement more scramble crossings so that pedestrians and vehicle traffic is completely separated so that people cross in all directions on one light and then one light for east-west traffic and one light for north-south traffic.
If we're talking 401 I think the easiest way to try and improve traffic flow is to use the express lanes for their intended purpose and reducing the number of entrances/exits to those expressways to be only a few so that traffic that simply wants to travel through Toronto can flow more freely. Just like the DVP close to where it connects to the Gardiner, traffic often builds up in that area when you have too many cars trying to get onto the highway and merging with existing highway traffic.
These are just a few solutions that can be implemented fairly easily that can significantly reduce traffic congestion within the city that our politicians and city planners don't seem to ever want to try.

Toronto's Very expensive and overpopulated. Singapore's The only place on Earth more expensive than Zurich and London's The most congested city in terms of traffic. Meanwhile, Death Valley and Dubai in a heatwave are 2 of the hottest places on Earth and Antarctica is 1 of the coldest. Sometimes however, Toronto's better than Alberta in weather terms.
